Boots quickly on and off. Resolution is amazing but it’s way too heavy. I’m planning to return it...

      Pjdrums0182,

Thanks for your review. If you continue to experience crashes on your computer you can diagnose them with these steps:

      1. At the desktop, click the Search the web and Windows box and type "problem reports".
      2. Select View all problem reports to view a list of errors that have occurred on your computer and possible solutions for them, such as updating drivers, flashing your system BIOS, or checking for updates to the software.
      3. Under the Source column, look for Windows and under Summary, look for Shut down unexpectedly.
      4. Right-click the line item and select Check for a solution.

We'd also suggest checking to make sure that your software and drivers are up to date on Dell's Product Page - https://dell.to/2uP8uQU.

You can read the full article here - http://dell.to/2u98Cct.

We hope that you're able to resolve the issue you're facing soon.

      Best,
      Bryan

    Luv touchscreen w/laptop feature

Replaced Asus desktop all in one that died for no reason after 2 yrs. I have had this Dell for 1 month. I will not buy another desktop. Two features I think I cannot live w/o anymore in my laptop - well lit keyboard & touchscreen. Pros: Monitor - great view, I can use this as a touch screen or a traditional laptop Keyboard- keys are well lit, not too close together (but does take getting used to if you are switching from traditional keyboard- keys seem closer together), I like that I can feel the keys being pressed Speed: I stream and have many windows open at same time and no issues so far. Software: No problems so far Uses: I use it for streaming, email, spreadsheets, word processing and internet searching (I do not do any gaming on this computer) Size: Large enough to have multiple windows open but still small enough for lap use Heat: Quiet- I don't really hear the fan, Don't really feel too much heat after hours of lap use (previous laptop got very hot and was really loud) Desk use: There is a non-stick strip on the bottom so the laptop does not shift on a smooth surface Cons: Don't like the position of the on/off switch, no CD ability, only one HDMI port, uses about 10% of the battery ever hour - and takes a while to charge.

fast and overall a good value

Overall, this seems to be a good choice for price/performance/ hardware specs. Has glass screen - will resist scratches better than membrane type. Two levels of keyboard backlight. Keyboard has spacious layout, and reasonable key feel/travel. With SSD, 16 GB ram, and I7 core, the computer is fast, and so far I haven't even taxed it - fans hardly ever run. There are a few cons/areas for improvement however. The keyboard backlight is uneven, and the "M" is much brighter than other keys. The power button is a bit recessed, and requires a strong "press". The bezel around screen could have been trimmed down for a more compact look. And, as far as I can tell, the entire housing is plastic, and could have been made with alloys or composites to add a slimmer, and lighter look/feel.

Buyers Beware - fell apart after less than 2 years

I purchased this laptop when I started graduate school less than two years ago and it was a considerable investment on a student's budget. I am extremely careful with it (also never use it in the tablet mode) and it stays in a padded case when not in use. Last week I went to close the lid for the night and found that the LCD screen had started to split away from the back near the right side hinge. Three screws fell out of the interior of the laptop and it became clear that the plastic casing holding the lid together had cracked. The repair has cost me almost $300 and has left me without my laptop for almost a week right before an important conference. All of this for damage that was not caused by anything outside of normal use. I could not be more disappointed, as I trusted both Dell and Best Buy to deliver a product that I could count on for the full course of my studies and not cost me unnecessary headaches and stress.

    Great - after two repairs

The laptop is attractive and works well -- after two repairs. When It was only two weeks old, it developed a problem charging the battery. I took it back to Best Buy, shortly after the return period expired, and was told that I’d have to send it back to Dell for repairs. The computer was less than one month old! I sent it back in and received it a couple weeks later. They did not fix it and the same problem occurred again. So, I had to send it in again. This is one of two Inspirons that I've purchased in the last 18 months. The second, the 13” version of the same laptop, has a similar story. A couple of weeks into the new purchase, the screen went very dim and started to flicker. I called Dell and was told that I needed to send the computer in for a new screen. The computer was three weeks old!!! So, now, I’m reliving the same experience. In both cases, I could have bought Best Buy’s Geek Squad protection (i.e., additional money for an extended warranty on a brand-new product), but I firmly believe that I should not have to pay additional money to purchase a working product. I would be wary of buying the Inspiron 7000 series. If you do, save all the original packaging to make it easier when you send it off for repairs.

Received on Wed, stopped working on Sun. Called Dell, wanted me to mail it in and wait 2 weeks to receive fixed laptop. Instead, I will be returning it back to Best Buy on Monday! Spent 1K and should not have to deal with mailing... Dell obviously doesn't stand behind there products.
