Wanted this as it was one of the only launch PS5 games. It's looks great but is very hard. If you die, you start the level over.

Yes it’s a “remake”, yes the OST is good but some tracks aren’t as impactful as others, yes some of the dream-like ambience is lost behind the shiny and detailed environments but you know what? This game is so finely crafted with attention to detail in every nook and cranny you’d argue From Software and Bluepoint would make an amazing team developing a game in unison. A game like this is what every console launch needs as a feather in it’s cap. Demon’s Souls stands tall among the generic shooters (CoD), the wannabe games as a service titles (Godfall) and whatever Ubisoft squats to crank out (Assassin’s Creed, Watchdogs etc).
Demon’s Souls offers a trip down memory lane for veterans of the franchise that started it all and an opportunity for newcomers to experience what they’ve been missing out on in a game that looks, plays and sounds beautiful. I’d recommend this to anybody that loves some true rpg elements in their games mixed with wonderful exploration and an aesthetic appeal that begs to be looked upon and admired. Even if you’ve been kept at arm’s length from previous Souls games for whatever reason I’d say you owe it to yourself, as a gamer and an early adopter of the next generation to take the time and really peel back the layers to discover what From Software has been doing for years. This is the foundation to their formula that has been realized by Bluepoint. Everyone that owns a PS5 should have this game in their library and encourage From Software to sign off on more remakes of their games in this regard.
If I had one criticism to give it would be the lack of an option to listen to the original OST while playing. It’s a criticism from a veteran that has played the original with a basis for comparison that wouldn’t affect a newcomer in the slightest. Other than that Bluepoint has done an immaculate job in staying true to the formula that has all but rocketed From Software into one of the most recognizable studios in the world of gaming.

The game that started a genre. Demon's Souls lacks a lot of quality of life improvements within more recent FromSoft games, but that doesn't mean this isn't a masterclass in unique game design. The remake itself is by far the best way to play; it is groundbreaking on a technical level. This game has no right looking this good and playing this smoothly on a console. Though do yourself a favor and save world 5 for last, and bring lots of fire when you do (you'll thank me).

Best Game Ever, made again for the PS5. (my personal favorite).
Totally redone visuals and voiceovers with the AI and other coding transposed in from the original. Some other minor tweaks. Art designs are either very similar or slightly different, but unfortunately for the worst.
Original OST was great, this one is very meh at best.
It'll feel like the PS3 version while looking as one of the best games to date.
Absolute insanely quick load times.
Pop pop-pop-pop pop.

I love Souls-like games, and, as the true originator of the genre, it's great to get to be able to get back to this game. BluePoint did a great job updating this game from 2009 and (as stupidly tough as it is) it's a great time to experience.
Only gripe is the $70 price tag. I won't give Sony their blood money so I had to wait a good deal of time for a sale but I won't ding the review rating for this, just wanted to point out this.

This is my 3rd Souls outing, and my first time with Demon's Souls, but this is a great-looking game. Punishing just like all other Dark Souls game, but that makes victor that much sweeter.
At this point, this is the only true PS5 title (Astrobot is amazing too, but doesn't really count as a retail game), as all other retail games for PS5 are cross-generational. It shows that this was entirely built exclusively for PS5 with super fast load times, and amazing visuals.

I’ve never given the Souls games much of a chance prior to this title, but I can now say, without the shadow of a doubt, that I have been missing out on a world of immensely satisfying games.
After spending around 100 hours with this game I have beaten it 2 and 1/2 times and secured myself a shiny new platinum. If you are like me and have been on the fence with these sorts of games, I can tell that this is the perfect title for a beginner to try out.
Besides the obligatory tutorial boss that is there for you to die to, this game does a good job of easing you into its mechanics more so than any other I’ve dipped my toes into. On top of that, you can stock up on nearly unlimited healing items and farm souls in numerous different locations, or, just try somewhere else entirely, if you are struggling too much with any one spot.
To finish, if you are a newcomer to the series I highly recommend giving this game a shot. I loved it so much that I immediately started the game again on ng+ after my first play through, and am now working on Dark Souls III.
PLEASE CHECK OUT THIS GAME!

PS5 launch title at its best, although the game is not for the easily triggered gamer. It's a very difficult game and you will die constantly at the beginning, but you will have a great time doing so. The PS5 shows off all of its bells and whistles with this title, from the graphics, load times and controller feedback alone. From the opening credits until my first boss fight, took me 4hrs. Great game for all those interested in this genre of games.

I've always tried to get into the Souls games and it never really clicked for me—that said, this remake combines gorgeous visuals with a more level-based design that made it a lot easier for me to get into it without that relatively open world problem of the previous Souls titles. Excellent game and I'm really loving playing it! It's drop-dead gorgeous on PS5, too. Great technical showcase.

I first played this on the PS3 way back in 2011, and this new version is just like I remember. This new version made some incredible improvements or graphics and game play, while maintaining a lot of the core aspects that made this series of games famous.
It is an opportunity for new players to experience this genre defining game, definitely recommend to all PS5 owners to give this game a little go.

"Demon's Souls" for the PlayStation 5 is a visually stunning remake of the classic 2009 action role-playing game that originally debuted on the PlayStation 3. Developed by Bluepoint Games in collaboration with Japan Studio, this reimagined version brings the dark and challenging world of Boletaria to life with a level of detail and realism that showcases the power of the PS5 hardware.
Graphically, "Demon's Souls" is a showcase for the capabilities of the PS5. The game boasts incredible visual fidelity, from the intricacies of armor and weapons to the hauntingly atmospheric environments. The lighting effects, particle physics, and textures work together to create a sense of immersion that was not possible in the original version. The developers have put a lot of effort into preserving the atmosphere of the original while adding modern touches that enhance the experience.

This is a must play. Simple as that. If you are a fan of any FromSoft games, you already know. If you have never played a FromSoft game before, there is no better place to start. The gameplay, story and graphics are simply amazing. Bluepoint Games took a masterpiece of a game and brought it to the PS5 in the best way possible. If you have a PS5, you have to own this game.

Have been playing. New to the franchise. Definitely ps5s marquee launch title. Beautiful. It really shows what the ps5 can do. I must say cod: cold war is also breathtakingly beautiful. Playing either of these two games on my sony z8h is a joy, and it really even gives my Razer blade pro 4k laptop with the rtx 2080 a run for it's money. The optimization on the ps5 is amazing. Recommend this game. It is hard, though.

I’m a huge Dark Souls fan and remember playing Demons Souls when it came out on PS3. I didn’t get very far. I was naive.
Look here! A beautiful remaster. Probably the best looking console game I’ve ever seen. Some minor quality of life improvements but largely a lovingly crafted recreation. An amazing game for fans of Dark Souls or action RPGs in general.
Be warned: it’s a tough one.

I never played the original Demon's Souls but from what I've heard Bluepoint did a good job staying true to the game. I'm a huge fan of the Souls series and am happy I was finally able to play original. The game was awesome! I've beaten it three times and am working on a fourth. This one is easier than the other three so if you're worried about it being too difficult don't be. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!

This game has game of the year potential!
I have been a big fan of the Dark Souls, Demon's Souls game since its inception. This remake is what most fan's really wanted. A whole new overhaul visually but still keeping the game mechanics the same. The game plays much smoother due to the next gen console. It really showcases what the PS5 is capible of. If your a fan of the Souls series, don't miss this title.

Gamers haven't been able to really experience RTX even though that tech has been out for years. This is partly because there wasn't enough of a hardware base to justify it (so it's been largely absent from PC games). But now that next-gen consoles have hardware-accelerated ray-tracing it can be implemented into new games from the ground up.
This is probably one of the first games that a large audience will experience with fully implemented ray-traced lighting and rendering FX. It was for me. It's easily one of the best showcases for how much of an impact this kind of tech has on the final look of a game. I think this tech shines most on HDR TVs, as the brightness range goes pretty wide, especially with local dimming. The balance of light and dark is effective in setting the dark mood of the game. Lighting feels almost realistic in this game, and it's a big leap from last-gen tech.
Besides that, of course it's a fantastic Souls game as usual. My only minor gripe is the price point at 69.99 which may be the norm now for 1st-party next-gen games. As a developer I can see the logic for this price, especially since game prices have been effectively flat and out of step with inflation for so long. It may help gamers become more careful when picking games rather than piling onto their already huge backlog.
Also the trigger-lock mechanic on the controller isn't perfectly setup yet with the bow in-game. It's a little janky.

Great Game. Very hard. Graphics are good, more sleek compared to the sharp older game, bit of an artistic style difference but not in a bad way. Movement is way better

First true taste of the next gen since it is exclusive to the ps5 only. Souls style games are no doubt difficult but fun and give you a sense of accomplishment when you do beat them. I would recommend this to every ps5 buyer not only because it is a great game but also does a great job showing what the next gen consoles are capable of with regards to graphics, fram rates and load times.
