Nice Receiver

I haven’t bought a receiver in a long time. This one really was beyond my expectations. It had a self setup where it tests the speakers for optimal sound. Very cool. It has a Bluetooth and WiFi option as well. I’m not terribly impressed with the HEOS app since it does not give the full functionality of the music apps that are available on the app. Another ‘gripe’ is that my router has a dual band 2.4 and 5 GHz. The receiver randomly logs onto either one of these bands which makes it a little cumbersome to use the app from your phone. You always have to verify the band your phone is on to use the app. Sometimes it’s easier just to use the Bluetooth. So thumbs down to the HEOS app.

Great AVR

This is a great AVR. This is also my first AVR. Up until I installed this receiver, I was using an Adcom preamp and an Adcom amp driving Mirage loudspeakers. As Adcom was audio-only, making it work with the TV was an all manual setup. Even with my Harmony remote, I couldn't use the one-button activity feature because I would have to get up and switch inputs on the receiver/TV.
Because the Adcom is great sounding, I was worried I would lose sound quality when replacing the Adcom with the Denon. I could not have been more wrong. The Denon has great sound and actually fills in audio that I didn't hear with the Adcom pair. And I didn't lose any low end either.
Setup for the Denon was a breeze. I plugged everything in and ran the setup. 25 minutes later I was up and running. I reprogrammed my harmony for the Denon, and now I have the one-touch activities because the Denon is switching everything. I am adding a sub and center speaker this month, and I like that all I have to do is rerun the setup and the Audyssey MultEQ XT automatic calibration and I am done.
I like the Audyssey MultEQ XT automatic calibration, HEOS, built-in BT, wireless, and having binding post for the speaker outs instead of the small spring-loaded connectors.
I really like this receiver, and I recommend it to anyone.

Excellent sound and quality. Very cool to be able to operate with an app. However sends confusing error messages to the receiver screen. Also added a Denon spkr for my garage but it will not shut off from app or remote not sure why.

The guys at best buy tried to get me to buy the pioneer. They had a sheet of paper comparing he two which showed how much better the pioneer was supposed to be, but after reading true user review online, I decided to go against the recommendation of the store employees and I am so glad that I did. The sound is amazing, so easy to setup and the price cannot be beat when bought on sale. Read the reviews first from people who have it! They all love it.

Easy to setup - CEC control works great

I use my stereo mainly for TV audio. We also listen to streaming services.
I have this receiver connected to:
-Two in-wall Monoprice 8" ribbon front surround speakers
-2 Polk LM Rear surround speakers
-A Samsung soundbar that I hacked/re-wired to be hardwired as my center channel speaker
-And a a Polk wired subwoofer.
I have a 42" Sony XBR49X900E.
When I got this new TV I wanted to be able to:
- Control all of my devices with the TV remote (Not a Harmony. Which we used to use and becomes kinda cumbersome when you are adding many devices.)
- I also wanted to have 1 wire/cable between the TV and the Receiver.
- I wanted to be able to use the TV remote to Turn On/Off and control the Receiver/Uverse DVR and the TV.
I planned on doing this using CEC via HDMI. CEC IS A CONTROL PROTOCOL that when properly implemented in the devices, allows control and A/V signals to be sent via 1 HDMI cable between devices.
With the TV I purchased a less expensive Denon model, the AVRS530BT that was on sale. After setting it all up, and much trial and error and research it became apparent that the way CEC was implemented on that unit was not compatible with my Sony TV.
Additional research showed this Denon to be a good choice. I returned the AVRS530BT and purchased this one.
It worked properly as soon as I hooked it up and ran the setup process..
I turn on the TV, the Denon and the Uverse DVR via the Power button on the Sony remote.
Of course I can also control the DVR, guide, etc,,and Denon audio or other devices connected to it with the Sony remote.
PROS: A superior interface setup process,
More choices regarding device control, the increased headroom giving the sound a more robust feel.
The Audyssey MultEQ XT automatic calibration with included microphone makes a big difference in your surround experience.
HEOS app that lets me stream Amazon music or Spotify.
Built-in BT, wireless
I can control it with my phone ot my Echos/Alexa
And it has easier to connect binding post for the speakers.
6 HDMI inputs
I have had it in service for 1 year and 3 months and it has worked great.

I initially bought this on Amazon, but when it arrived the wrong model was in the box. So I arranged for return and came to Best Buy. The receiver I wanted was on display on the store floor- there were several of them. Although the price was higher, the sales person quickly checked the Denon / Amazon price on his mobile phone and agreed to give us the lower advertised price. He then also offered us a Best Buy credit card which got us another 10%. So the whole purchase experience was fast, friendly and excellent. The receiver itself is really cool. I have only had it a few days, but it was very easy to set up and configure. I love that it has several HDMI ports. The ability to be able to stream the music I own on my iTunes library from my networked PC is also a great feature. I also like being able to stream Amazon Music and Spotify services. Currently my home is hard wired and this receiver has inputs for a Main Zone and a Zone-2 so I can send the music to my other rooms. Unlike my old Panasonic AV Receiver, this one allows me to have music playing in all rooms at once. Also it has the ability to hook up multiple Wi-Fi speakers. Lastly, I can control the whole system with the free Apps, or via voice commands with Amazon Echo/Alexa. This is a fine piece of equipment at a great price.

I have liv3d with a great yamaha set up for the last 20 years. Analog has always been my preference. But it was time for the upgrade since we upgraded to a 4k hd tv recently and the sound conversion from digital to analog, though not horrible, just needed improvement.
Extremely happy with my denon receiver along with my 5.1 def tech speakers.
I live in an apt aprix 1000sqft and this is a great system

This unit sounds great. easy set up. I love the heos app and the music i can stream with it. The atmos sounds better with this unit than the onkyo i have. I think because the way it calibrates, take longer but sounds much better. The apps I put on my phone (galaxy s7 edge) work great for the receiver and heos. The reviews for the apps said they didnt work well but trust me they do.

I was initially concerned about HDR pass-through from my Xbox One X but almost all 4K HDR enabled games play nicely in 4K HDR except Destiny 2, which drops out of HDR while loading. Don't think it's a receiver issue. 4K HDR enabled video (Netflix) is perfect!
The sound quality I get is wonderful and the automatic audio setup via the included microphone sets up with your room acoustics so nicely. Very easy to use menus and configuration.

I had owned a $1200 receiver that died (after only 6 years), so I did not want to invest that much into a receiver again. I really like Denon products, so I thought this mid-priced unit would be at least very good.
Well, the sound is MUCH better than the previous unit! It does not have as much power, but I do not need more as this can play DVDs to a room shaking level, if I desire. Also the features are amazing with the most impressive being DTS: X.
I am more than pleased with my purchase!

Got this to replace my old Denon that I've had for 13 years and to go with my 4K TV. It's taken awhile to get used to all the new bells and whistles but now it works like a champ. Sound is great now that I've upgraded to 2.0 HDMI cables. Only reason didn't give 5 star is because the setup is a bit challenging but that's probably on me because I haven't had new equipment in so long.

I bought this as a replacement for a Sony with HDMI switching issues. Has better sound than Sony. I have not experienced any issues with HDMI switching.
