Onkyo is horrible! Had to get that out of the way. Returned the 545 and 646 models because the HDMIs went out. This wasn't supposed to be a problem anymore but... Anyway, on to the Denon. Overall, it's a fantastic A/V receiver. Sound and Pic are flawless. Setup was easy. Connectivity is good. The bad? Not really bad as they are inconveniences. No actual selection for Spotify on the receiver. It just automatically changes when you use Spotify connect and select Denon on device. This is a slight issue if you want to use two different internet streaming apps in two different zones (for me it's in the house and poolside). Reminds me. The sound for the second zone isn't quite as clear as was from the Onkyo. Small sacrifice for a receiver that doesn't po@p the bed after a month. Next issue is the input automatically changing when it picks up iPhone bluetooth. Not sure why this is happening and in fairness, I haven't called Denon on it. If I'm watching TV the receiver will randomly change input to bluetooth and pick up my phone. Weird. I know. Simple fix. Turn off my bluetooth. But it shouldn't happen in the first place. Overall though, really pleased with this unit (That's what she said).

I replaced a 10 year old Denon receiver with this model because I was having trouble with one of the surround channels. I have a 7.1 setup up with large speakers and this model was recommended by an associate in the store. It was also appealing because it was on sale for $200 off the regular price. The setup was extremely easy with the built in program and mic provided. I have been amazed at the detail that this receiver produces! When watching sports you truly feel like you are part of the experience in the stadium. Movies and music are crystal clear too. It definitely has exceeded my expectations.

This is a great unit for the price. Performs well, setup is easy, and the unit is well loaded with features. I'm using it in a 2.1 setup with just about every media format imaginable being thrown at it.

I picked up this receiver on a BB sale. Great deal for the model. After hooking things up and using the Audyssey room correction, I was pretty pleased with the sound. The one thing I found a little annoying is how high I had to turn up the volume....I believe others have mentioned this. Not a bit deal, but I wanted a little more power. Sound separation wasn't quite what I expected as well so I returned for another brand.

In the under $1000 price range, AVRs from Pioneer, Denon, Yamaha, Sony, and Onkyo are all very good and competitive. You really cannot go wrong with any of them. They all review great. Get this Denon if you are looking for a competitive price ($600 on sale), warm full sound, great auto calibration, and easy to use on screen display and set up. Best advantage of Denon is the up scaling or up conversion, it really is top notch. The picture displaying on my scrappy Samsung LCD never looked better.
This AVR is 95 watts per channel and I am only running it 5.1. My towers, sub, center, and even surrounds are fairly big so I was worried that it may not be enough power for the speakers. However, so far it has played music and movies very soundly.
Keep in mind that Denon offers a warm sound that is full but doesn't play loud or sour as I think if it. For most people this is a good thing but those new to big speakers will probably appreciate something louder. Yamaha and Pioneer AVR do a great job at loud. I have always found Onkyo somewhere in the middle.
Only drawback is that this is a novice AVR in the sense that it does not offer the customization or inputs that many of the higher end models have. Also, being a novice AVR it looks the part. Barely any buttons or options on the front and offerings from Pioneer look much nicer visually.
Overall a great AVR

I replaced my 10 year+ Denon and very happy with the new Denon. The ARC control will be awesome once all components support (cable box). I really haven't used a lot of the features other than passing HDMI for Cable and BluRay thru the AVR to new Samsung JS8500. Have not seen any issues in picture quality. The only thing that seems strange is that I need to turn the volume up to about 50 to have loud enough. I might try and recalibrate and see if makes a difference.

With the ARC function it talks to my TV, making transitions smoother from source to source. The Bluetooth is awesome, I play Pandora from my phone anytime I'm at home and want to listen to music. I have a home enterainment system with surround sound, and a North and South patio that each have speakers. With this unit, the patios can play something different than the home theater, in case someone gets bored with the game and wants to sit outside for some fresh air.

I bought this to replace a Denon AVR-989 that I was really happy with. I upgraded for more HDMI ports as well as 3D/4K compatibility.
I'm very pleased with the upgrade. Audyssey auto setup was a breeze and even included a really cool cardboard mic stand assembly to raise the mic height to ear level when sitting on your couch. I love the on-screen display over HDMI that the older Denon didn't support. Sounds great with my Polk speakers and sub. Seems to run just as cool as my older Denon (which are much cooler than my previous Onkyo receiver).
Wish it had pre-outs for all speakers, but who am I kidding? I know I'm never going to pay for a decent separate amplifier so I don't need them anyways.
I did not try to use any internet connected features so I can't comment on that.
I highly recommend this receiver and Denon in general.

I purchased this receiver to replace a 10 year old Denon. The self guide set-up was extremely easy to follow. The bluetooth and wifi features operated as advertised with no issues. Connecting directly to Pandora is very convenient and has allowed me to play music throughout our lower level. Watching movies with this receiver is very enjoyable...almost theater like.

I have to say I am mostly pretty impressed with this Denon AVR-X2200W audio/video receiver. It could pack a little more punch at certain volume levels but on the whole it is is not too bad. Being the first non-Harman Kardon receiver I have owned in 20 years I was skeptical, but from the moment I started hooking it up did it become apparent I made a great choice. Set up was a breeze and the included tripod made calibration a snap. You can use a regular camera tri-pod as well, but didn't realize that until I had assembled the included one. So far we've only used it for audio when watching TV or movies. Looking forward to trying out direct streaming to the receiver from our iOS devices.

Great device for easy hookup, walks you literally thru the whole setup and how to use it. Easy understanding remote!!!! Great sounding surround sound! Love being able to just turn the receiver on and playing Pandora without the TV.

Very nice mid/high level receiver. Upgrade from Marantz and it's smoother. It blends well with Definitive 8040 line. I forget about the sound when watching a movie and that never happened before. Pass through without turning it is a nice upgrade.

Easy to set up great sound. Hooked up with Samsung SUHD Tv with components and cable box going into the receiver and a single hdmi to the Tv. A little glitch with using cable system universal remote which is set up for one touch on and off of cable box TV and receiver. Receiver sets to TV audio instead of cable box audio. To get cable box audio to come on need to disable automatic switching to tv audio needed for streaming services like Netflix vudu and Amazon prime. Once you turn off this feature you must manually enable tv audio when using smart tv features. Minor inconvenience but would prefer to be able to have cable box audio come on with one touch universal cable box remote AND automatically switch to TV Audio when using streaming services.

This was the first receiver I've purchased. It is really nice, and works very well. I am not much of an audiophile...it sounds great. The only challenge is that is has a lot of functions and a 240 page manual to explain them all. It is a little cumbersome to navigate all of that. The speaker balancing worked great and was easy to figure out. Very pleased...
