Devil May Cry 5 is an excellent game, which I would recommend to any fan of action games with lots of fighting. There are three playable characters, Nero, V, and the one and only Dante. One thing that is amazing is simply the number of techniques and moves that your characters have access to. Along with Fantastic Graphics and game play this game makes for the perfect combination of fantasy and action adventure!

Wow! Just the graphics it self is awesome, with plenty eye candy goodness. Bought the game with the recommendation of my friend. He wasn’t lying about how great the game is. Looking forward for the part 6 to come out. A must game to add to your PS4 collection.

    Action Bliss

Devil May Cry 5 is pure, unrelenting, action bliss. This is the best action game of the year. The game is a welcome return to the long-standing series that has been dormant in the mainline series since 2008's DMC4. While I personally enjoyed DmC, the reboot, a lot, many were dismayed with it. Well, this is a game that will please fans of both worlds. The game follows Nero, Dante, and a newcomer, V. All the characters are well fleshed out with fantastic combat styles unique to each of them. The story is campy yet fun, with its fair share of surprisingly emotionally resonant scenes. What separates DMC5 from many other games is that it's not so much focused on killing monsters and demons as it is about how you kill them. Style is the name of the game. DMC5 will actively push you stretch the limits of how long you can continually punish a lone, poor demon. The phenomenal combat paired along with the excellent pacing makes the full package something you can't pry yourself from. The minute the game ended, I wanted nothing more to jump back in. I highly recommend you begin with the standard difficulty when first starting off rather than the "Human" difficulty. Don't be fooled, however, as the hardest difficulty you can pick right off the bat is only the second easiest difficulty. This game wants you to keep replaying the game. New systems, mechanics, weapons, and combos are sprinkled throughout the main campaign, demanding that you take advantage of the new skill. You literally receive a game-changing ability right at the end of the game, essentially telling you to replay the game again. If you want to test your might, the Bloody Palace game mode is a extremely fun mode that will constantly test how good you really think you are with a 99 stage gauntlet through all the enemies and bosses in the game--using only one life. You die, you start from ground zero. Capcom is killing it. No one could've predicted such a strong redemption arc with the company, but here we are with Devil May Cry 5 (and Resident Evil 2 remake). Do yourself a favor and dive into Devil May Cry 5. If you're new to the series, don't worry, there's a video included with the game that will go over most of the main plot points from the previous games. The game absolutely can be played stand-alone. And don't be surprised if you find yourself saying to yourself, "Pull my devil trigger." The game's soundtrack is an absolute beast. You'll see.

One of the best games I've ever played. Killer music, excellent gameplay, great story if you're a fan of the series. I'd recommend this to anyone who likes action games at all. The campaign is pretty short, but it's a game you're supposed to replay on higher difficulties to get better rankings, and a survival mode is coming out soon. You can swing a motorcycle like a sword and rev a sword like a motorcycle. Buy it.

The music, the characters, the story, the gameplay, it is all here. Being the fifth game in the series, not including DmC which was a reboot, this brings back Nero, Dante, and a new character named V who are all playable. Each one comes with their own unique style and motivates the player to get better while increasing their rank mid-battle. The story is rather short which took me about 12 hours, but you will not unlock everything on your first playthrough. There is microtransanctions to give you a boost, but you do not need to as I have almost unlocked everything after two playthroughs. Other than the story, bloody palace is another mode where you go through 100 floors of enemies and bosses and really tests your skills.

DMC5 to me is the Metal Gear Solid 4 of this series. Full of fan service to those of us who've been with the franchise since its PS2 days. Returning characters and the signature over-the-top action make this feel like true DMC through-and-through. Graphics are top-notch, the music is the best it's ever been, and the moment-to-moment gameplay easily surpasses the series' high point seen with DMC3. There's even an interesting story (which honestly has never been very deep in previous entries) that fleshes out the characters a bit more. Easily recommended for DMC fans or anyone who even remotely likes action games.

Did you ever play Devil May Cry before? If not, now is the time to start. This game is fun and you can play as three characters with different play styles, it has tough bosses, there is a learning curve but eventually you get used to the controls. The characters have a more fluid movement and didn't feel clunky like previous entries, graphically it's very impressive since they are using the new Resident Evil game engine, there isn't much to complain about, except some parts are very easy but don't let that fool you.

    Great But Disappointing

I'm going to reveal some spoilers in this review but I feel it is necessary to emphasize my disappointment. If you don't want any spoilers then here is the spoiler free version: there are 3 characters, one of them I don't like playing with at all. In fact every one of his missions I just play through as fast as possible and get no enjoyment. He's a hinderance and I would have preferred they just kept him out of the game. Full review (with spoilers): The game is 20 missions long. Not bad, and with watching cut scene and checking out everything your first time through it may take 1-2 days to complete. But when you realize you don't even unlock Dante until mission 10, and even then he's in 6 missions, 3 of which you fight the same boss. Dante does have the coolest weapon set and moves, but he is way under utilized. At least there is bloody palace to run through with him. V is worthless. Yes he can be strong (he's the one I got the furthest with in bloody palace) but I do not enjoy him one bit. You don't fight with him, you use his bird and panther to fight. Sounds cool but it's not. Nero, he has potential, but his devil breakers (power arm things) constantly break and it leaves you with a 1 armed guy with a sword and no crazy combos. If they made the devil breakers not break then he might be fun, but he can be frustrating at times. Dante is awesome and should have been the main focus of the game, in fact if they took out the other 2 and made dante playable from the beginning I'd be happier. On top of that they tease Virgil with costumes, cutscense, and multiple boss fights against him. Then the end he teams up with Dante, yet he's not playable. It is such a slap in the face. The story is pretty good and interesting, but somewhat repetitive and predictable. The graphics are great. The parts that really disappointed me are as follows: no turbo mode. The game feels really slow. Not very many unique enemies. Non of the "demons" feel like demons at all. There are these bug looking ones that look like horse flies and cockroaches, then there's a few lizard types, then there's a couple goat looking things, and there's a grim reaper looking one, plus a few other bosses and mini bosses, but overall you don't feel like you're fighting demons at all, you feel like you're fighting aliens, or just giant animals and bugs... the camera gets really janky. First of all there aren't many puzzle sections in the game, in fact there are barely any. That can be a good thing or a bad thing depending on your preference, but they did focus more on the fighting so I consider it mostly good. But then you'll come across one random section where you have to jump on these platforms that drop after a second, and all of a sudden it feels like Crash Bandicoot. Why? Just leave it out. Lastly the bosses are somewhat unique until you fight Urizen/ Virgil 5 times and 3 of the other bosses twice. This game could have been so much better if they stuck with the original formula. DmC:Definitive Edition was better, more fun, and you felt more like a badass. This game is harder, but in the wrong ways. Janky camera, crappy controls, unfair enemies (on higher difficulties). Human, Devil Hunter, and Son of Sparda are barely distinguishable. Then you go to Dante Must Die and it's a huge jump in difficulty. Overall I was very happy with the last game, the definitive edition. I was super excited for this one and it's not any better. In fact I'm going back to play the old one because this one is such a disappointment. Cool style and weapons doesn't mean anything if you barely get to use them. This game has potential, most of it can be fixed in an update if Capcom wanted to, but with all the praise it's getting I just don't see that happening. People have lowered their standards and then hate on games like the reboot but the reboot was fun, this game isn't fun.

I rarely give games or movie a full 5 stars or 10/10's however this game is just too good. I've never really played the Devil May Cry franchise so this was my first game in the series and I'm glad that I decided to get into this series. The story is simple and easy to catch on to even without any context to the story, but if you really want to know about the story so far then check out "The History of DMC" that's contained within the Main Menu. But anyway, the gameplay is definitely the best part of this game. It's an action hack and slash game where you play as three characters: Dante, the son of Sparda and Legendary Devil Hunter, Nero, a young Devil Hunter who recently got a brand new robotic arm, and V, and mysterious man who controls demonic beast in hopes of finding help from Dante and Nero to help take down the demon king Urizen. Each character has a different play style and their own challenges to them. The funnest part in the game in my opinion is trying to get your combos up to SSS and keeping it there for as long as possible. The game also knows when to shut up and let the gameplay talk and I really respect that. The soundtrack is also amazing especially during battle, it really hypes you up, and not to mention whenever you finish a battle the music always somehow ends perfectly. Overall, this game is just fantastic. The gameplay, the art style, the soundtrack, the characters, the acting, just everything about it is just so good. For sure, one of the best games of the decade.

In terms of good old butt-kicking, DMC5 has what you want if you've been a fan of the series from the get. But if you're expecting the old-fashioned puzzle-it-out, figure-it-out challenge that the older DMCs gave us, you're in a for a bit of a disappointment. **I warn that there will be spoilers here** Dante isn't our MC, and he won't be available until approximately mission 9 or 10. V is relatively boring to play with despite his dark and enigmatic persona. He can't really do much demon-slaughtering, and has to call on pet demons to do all the work for him. Not so hot; I constantly felt hindered when I played his character. Nero's a toughie, but his missing arm puts the player at an extreme and tiresome disadvantage. The devil arms keep breaking, and when he runs out, that's the end of that if you don't have spares to load up. At 20 missions, the game is pretty short, particularly because in this DMC, you don't get the puzzles and artifact hunting that the old DMCs used to give us. It's all basically mindless, button mashing. You see a cutscene, go through a demon-filled, post-apocalyptic environment hacking and slicing your way through any monster that comes your way then face a boss. If you defeat the boss, you move on to another cutscene and do it all over again. While the combat is fun, the fact that the battles just bleed into each other spoils it some because the game goes that much faster, and the story doesn't really pull you into it. Despite the cons, I enjoyed the game if for nothing else but the demon-smashing joyride and familiarity of the characters, combat style and gameplay mechanics. I LOVED that this DMC took us back to the original roots of the game instead of continuing the mess that Ninja Theory gave us with their ugly, vulgarized version of Dante. Keeping the language and sexuality to a minimum (for a game of this kind, I suppose) made the game that much more enjoyable. I DO hope, however, that should another DMC be released, it gives us more play time, and a more entertaining experience that makes us actually think a little to win instead of just mashing buttons to kill the enemy, speeding the game past. Today's games are much too expensive to be able to complete the whole thing in just a day or so, and at just 20 demon-slaying missions, it's very possible to do just that.

The game play for DMC 5 is solid , but fed to you in very small bites . Each mission is formulaic with several enemy encounters before reaching a boss at the end. Some of these missions feel short, but the gameplay is sweet. Learning the combos and mastering the skills can be addicting with a reward in the for of "style points" for pulling off succesful and varied chains of attacks against enemies. The story contains some DMC lore familiar to fans with not too much emphasis on cutscenes and dialogue as a lot of Sony games are known for. Get ready to play as a charming cast with a lot of high-octane and over the top excitement throughout. The game's theme is very dark, gothic themed aesthetics and underworld terrain for the most part. Visually, it is appealing, but level design could have used a lot more thought. Traversing the land is sometimes tedious. There is quite a bit of room for improvement on their platforming elements to make them more fun for the player. I reference Astral Chain for the Switch in how it found an amazing way of finding a middle ground when it came to preforming cool attacks and platforming. There is very little depth outside from a shop to buy skills and items. If you were hoping for something more robust with RPG elements and customizations, this could be a pass. It is just another bare-essential installment of DMC, but that is more than enough to win in my book.

This is by far the best in the series and the storyline is very compelling. Game play is amazing, You get to control demons and a character V in this one so this is the first game i have played where you are controlling 3 characters at one time. Very challenging. you will die alot. Most DMC series your god like and hard to kill. This one makes you hard to kill still. but they did a great job of balancing the difficulty making it so now you dont run through the game too fast because of your god like abilities in game. Overall a must if you follow the series. This stays with the story and if you have not played the past series. There is a video on this one that is a movie basically and will catch you up on past events up till now before even playing the game!

Ive been playing the dmc series since it first came out. After a few misses the series seems to have righted the ship. This game is a lot of fun and has a good level of difficulty. The controls are tight and you feel in full control at all times. My 2 complaints are these and why it knocked a star off. First is the forced switching of characters. This disturbs the flow of the game a lot since all 3 characters handle very differently. Its hard to keep the flow as sometimes you'll want to do something and you forget its for the other character that does it. I think 3 seperate campaigns would have remedied it. The second only applies to Nero, the way you grab is r1 and circle on the ps4. Circle is also used for your special move which means you can't lock on and use your special again not a problem if you were used to only controlling nero but switching from v or Dante it becomes a problem every time you switch. Again not that big of issues but it does detract a little bit. I highly recommend it, especially if you like the dmc series

This one is back to Classic DMC and brings all your favorite characters to one game. Stunning visuals and immersive gameplay, and yes you get to play as a few characters again. Perfect addition to the DMC world and nice touches for hardcore fans and new-to-the-series alike. Excellent story, excellent gameplay, unbelievable visuals- they got it all right. Have never been a huge Devil May Cry fan, but I had to try this based on the all the great reviews, and it did not disappoint. The only real criticism I have is that the environments can get a little bland. Also - and this definitely will not be a negative for most people - is that this game can be extremely technical. At least if you're playing the way you're supposed to (i.e. going for style points). I wouldn't call it "hard" - at least not on normal difficulty levels - but like I said, if you're trying to be good at the game and play on its terms, be prepared for hand cramps and some frustration along the way. With all that being said, the game is an absolute blast to play. The three characters you play as are all unique and bring something different to the table. The animations and music and attitude are a joy. An all around great experience. Recommended.
