The Dyson AM08 Pedestal Fan is a very well designed appliance. Like all Dyson products, it fit and finish is excellent. Similarly it's a joy to use with its convenient remote (the fan head has a convenient magnetic receptacle for remote storage) that provides for speed control, oscillation activation / deactivation, and sleep timer activation. On a typical day, this fan moves a lot of air and does so very quietly. On a hot day, however, it's just as loud and no more powerful than a Vornado priced for 1/4th as much. Aesthetically, the fan isn't an eyesore. Finally, despite the fact that modern fans provide excellent coverage protecting young fingers from intersecting their blades, there is certainly an added sense of confidence in the safety of this product around children and small animals as there are no blades whatsoever.

For starters, the fan is unique and stylish. It’s nothing like the normal fans on the market, the airflow is amazing. Before I decided to write a review I figure wait and see how it does and so far thumbs up. Although I’ve come to love this fan there are some pros and cons. As mentioned earlier the airflow is amazing except for when you turn it past 5 it gets loud. The remote control is nice but if you lose it then all you can do is turn it off and on from the base. Speaking of the base and the remote control, in order for you to change the settings the remote has to be pointing directly at the base. I think Dyson could have done a better job with where they located the IR blaster, maybe located it at the top of the halo. The ability to clean the fan I feel is where Dyson accelerates. I’ve had many fans I couldn’t clean which would annoy me. I would have given this product 5 stars if weren’t for the price. The asking price in my opinion is not worth it. I would recommend this product only if you can catch it on sale for under $300 which is why I purchased the product. Me and my wife have it located in our bedroom and use it while we sleep, we never had to go over 5 which is pretty impressive. All in all, the products build quality and performance is great and for that I will be purchasing another in it product line.

Fan is very different. Not sure how to explain it. The effect is different than a normal blade fan. Is it better? Not really, just different. I like it and was able to get it at a big discount. I would never pay the full price for it, it's just not worth it. It's hard to tell in store, you do need to set it up in house to see for yourself. Fairly easy to assemble, I was able to put it together in 5/10 minutes. Big plus is the easy clean circle vs grates and blades on a normal fan. I would recommend if you got it at a big discount and you wanted a fan that has a cool look to it. Otherwise stick to the much cheaper Lasko which is just a good, if not better and WAY cheaper. I still use 2 of those and they work great.

I am a Dyson fanatic--I LOVE my vacuum and my parents love the two they have (corded and cordless). I've wanted a Dyson fan since seeing one in Best Buy when they first came out. The ability to tilt this one's head and telescope the height are wonderful features. I love the remote. I know it's not particularly designed for travel, but I just took it on two car trips with me and it was perfect. My only complaint is that I wish it was quieter. It's not terribly noisy (there is no buffeting noise, rattling, etc. like fans with blades develop), but it is noisier than I would like for the price. This is not a huge obstacle for my total adoration; just be aware that though this model is supposedly quieter than its predecessor, it is still not near silent above speed 1.

I think is the best fan. Safe for the kids, powerful and great design. I didn't give it all the stars because of the price. It's too expensive for w fan. You can buy a portable air condition for less.

My wife needs a fan to sleep and we have purchased numerous cheaper fans. The Dyson is powerful, sleek, and so quiet. It blows enough air to stay cool and refreshed, yet quiet enough to let you sleep as a baby. And with no blades it is safe for the animals and children.

Bought this for my wife for the bedroom. Fan is very quiet and has excellent airflow. My only negative is the price. I get that it is a dyson but come on. Oh well, she loves it, I win points.

Excellent fan that delivers a consistent even air flow at variable speeds. Remote control is very easy to use and the magnet that allows you to put it on the top of the fan is great, keeps you from misplacing it

It's been hot lately and my mom actually has the smaller one and I love it so when I saw this one I fell for it. It works amazing. It has such a modern look and it doesn't take up much space. It's awesome.

A little noisy at start up. At level 2, pretty quiet. At 3 and higher..a bit louder than I would expect. It moves the air in the room. So far happy with the purchase. See what happens this summer when its hot.

This is without a doubt the greatest fan I have ever purchased in my live. It works wonderfully and so quite. I love the remote control.

Good air flow and the remote works well . It was very easy to assemble . My only complaint is the remote sensor on the fan is at the base and needs line of sight . Noise is minimal and 10 settings.

Works great, is quiet and looks good. If it were a little cheaper it would be perfect

Saw this at my local BB- was an open box item and able to use my coupon- beautiful design, helps cool down Florida summers... Will recommend- actually looking to buy another one.
