Customers enjoy the fast performance and ease of use of the ENVY Desktop, particularly praising its solid state drive and ample storage. Many appreciate the reasonable price and quiet operation, along with the sleek design. However, some customers noted the large size of the desktop and occasional issues with the power supply and lack of included speakers. The positive feedback on performance and storage significantly outweighs the negative comments regarding size and a few reported hardware problems.

After several years of Vista, I was pleasantly surprised to see how fast and versatile windows 10 could be. Fast bootup and easy setup also a plus.

I was looking to replace my 10+ year old PC, so I figured anything would do, but when I first purchased a computer with an i3 processor and 8 GB of RAM, I found that it was a little slow to respond--not what I expected from a new computer. Thanks to Best Buy's return policy and associates, I am now very pleased with this i5, 12GB Envy. It powers on quickly and I can get a browser open in what feels like under 10 seconds and it powers off in under 10 seconds too.
The tower is on the heavy side and measures about 6.5" x 16" x 16." The "roof" of the tower appears to be sloped diagonally about half an inch, but a pencil will not roll on it's own, so it must be an optical illusion (I'm guessing the back of the tower is a half inch shorter than the front).
I was a bit disappointed that speakers and a monitor weren't' included (at the time) with my purchase, but I still felt that I got a good deal and I ended up using my old speakers (I had to purchase a monitor with HDMI though). I was also disappointed with the lightweight mouse and small keyboard (not what I'm used to), but I just hooked up my old peripherals. What would make this Envy 750-414 a lot better for me would be a horizontal and more sturdy feeling DVD drive. The drive seems delicate, like that of a laptop, and gravity sometimes makes it challenging to handle the discs. It's possible that these drives are the norm, though, because it's all that I saw at the store. Something that annoys me about the computer is the HP Support Assistant--I don't know whether the updates it suggests are the same or different from the Windows updates and I've read conflicting information online regarding whether these updates are necessary. I wish the updates were in one place so that it was more clear.
I did some research on computers for the first time in MANY years and made up a checklist that included SATA drive, SSD drive, i5 processor or better, more than 8GB RAM, at least DVD-R drive, HDMI out, DDR4 memory, Energy Star certified, and Hyperthreading. I couldn't find a computer with Hyperthreading in my budget (I'm not even sure what it is anymore!), but this computer had everything else on my list (I am disappointed that I don't see an Energy Star logo anywhere on my computer, however). My transition to Windows 10 from Windows 7 was fairly easy. MY BIGGEST DISAPPOINTMENT WITH WINDOWS 10 and this computer is that my old HP scanner is not compatible, so I need to invest in a new one (not one of these: "HP Scanjet - Scanners not supported in Windows 10," support.hp.com/us-en/document/c04635838 ).
But beside that, the overall performance of the computer makes me feel like I got my money's worth and like I got a quality product that fits my basic needs and then some.

This PC and its integrated video is fast enough to play the Steam games we tried on it.
It will drive 2 monitors with its two HDMI ports. There are no other legacy video ports on it, just the two HDMI ports.
There is a slot on the mainboard for a video card and you can still use the 2 onboard ports with a card installed, so at least 3 monitors can be driven, more if an add video card will support more.
RAM: 1x8GB and 1x4GB module = 12GB total. Just two memory slots, so you need to replace a DIMM to increase the RAM.
The SSD drive is a standard 2.5" 128GB SSD SATA drive in a drive bay. It uses a standard SATA and power cable, so you can replace it with any other 2.5" SSD or standard drive you choose. Nice that it's not built on the mainboard.
The 1TB drive that came in mine is a Western Digital Blue drive. It's a solid 5400 RPM. Easy to replace with or add a faster drive. You will need to get an HP drive rail/carrier to add a drive, easy to find on ebay if Best Buy does not have. There is room to add two more drives.
The SD slot, headphone jack and some USB ports are on top, but hard to see as they are in a well on top and all face the rear of the tower. Cleaner looks makes for some compromises.
You get an HP warranty which is a plus over some others. Support. is generally good, YMMV. Overall a great buy for the sale price.

Bought this PC for my son about a year and a half ago. He uses it for gaming and even though it's not a gaming computer, it does work well for most of the games he plays. Only has lag on a couple things and our internet is only 24 Mbps. A geek squad member recommended getting a PC with an I5 and this also had dual hard drives to help the startup speed. Has been good so far and has built in recording capabilities for YouTube videos of game play in Windows 10 software included on it.

I’ve had this for a little over a year now, & so far so good. There were a few things I had to adjust when I got it (sound was off, moniter colors as well) might’ve been a Windows 10 thing though which is what it came with. So far I haven’t ran into any issues, it runs smooth, & I just recently installed a new graphics card since this one has just a basic set up, & it’s been great. There are only HDMI ports, no VGA, so I had to get an adapter for my moniter which wasn’t a huge deal. I got this on sale & I would recommend.

Knowledgeable staff asked how I intended to use my desktop and showed me several models. I selected this particular model because of storage (love the 128 gb ssdrive - super fast, super quiet), ram and cpu. Connected easily to Comcast Internet wireless. On its own, ran both hp and windows updates. Appreciate knowledgeable staff help!

Been working on this computer for few months with no issues. With the solid state drive quick start up times, and ample storage in the 1TB sata drive. The only reason for the 4 rating is the DVD drive it seems flimsy, may work for the long haul as we don't use them like we use to. Just an FYI this HP uses the Windows10/7 backup and restore feature rather than one of their own software programs. HDMI is the only display output but most of the displays today have that as an input so no real issue.

Works great so far. Has a solid state "C" drive that boots up very fast and a 1 TB D drive.
Wish it had more USB ports but just bought a USB hub.
Had no problems installing a top rated Logitech webcam on it.
My old HP deskjet printer installed very easily along with the built in scanner.
Only problem so far is I leave the computer on all day and it can fall asleep so I have to wake it up by lightly pressing on the power button

I had a gateway pc that lasted me about 5 years and it recently stopped working due to motherboard problems and I was looking for a new one that was as good and came upon this one which luckily was on special and no regrets whatsoever!! Great pc that boots up effortlessly thanks to the solid state drive and the 1tb is more than adequate for me. Definitely would recommend. I just need to get a graphics card and it will be perfect.

Before I bought this PC, I compared it with offerings from Dell, Gateway and other brands. For the price and features, the HP was the best value and also looked the best.
It runs fast and quiet and comes with very limited bloatware. It took only a minimal time to uninstall the programs I didn't care for and it has been running well for the last several months. The brushed aluminum face is holding up well.

Fast and easy to use. Windows 10 is ok. Works flawlessly with HP OfficeJet. Trying to keep this one clean of garbage. Cloud storage helps and works seamlessly.
Whats to say it is a HP pretty much the Gold Standard as is apple. I am just too old to deal with all the Apple stuff.
Put Office 365 on it and got more cloud storage.
Up and running in minutes.
The Solid State drive is a great bonus feature.

Has the speed and storage I needed. Runs all my programs well. One thing I wish would come with all computers is a description of all programs included and what they do. Then the option to activate which ones you want and which ones you don't. If it is necessary or highly recommended, explain why or don't bother to include. What should be included is a list of programs that would be beneficial to most users with their official download site.

I bought this PC for my father in-law and seeing how fast it operates quite amazed me. Everyone may say that all new PC's are supposed to be fast right out of the box but trust me, it's not just that. It comes with a SSD hard drive which then allows 2x the speed for boot-up and shutdown. Not to mention any files you have on the SSD loads up faster. Good product for the price.

This desktop replaced an eMachine desktop that I'd have for about 7 years. I LOVE this computer. It's fast, quiet, and boots up very quickly. The only reason I get it 4 stars instead of 5 are for two reasons - (1) it's a little large in size, and (2) I type very fast and there are times that the computer takes a few seconds to catch up with me, although that could be a functional issue with Microsoft office.

So far this is the best computer I have owned and that is a large number. It is very fast and so far windows 10 is easy to use (very much like mac I think). The compact case and cool silver color are a big plus. The ports are kind of hidden on the top as they face back and I have it under my desk. Not really a problem you just have to fish around for them a little.
