Easy to setup and remote is much better than my old projector. Screen resolution is very sharp, fan is quite, faster starting than old projector. My major concern was picture brightness in a lighted room, like a living room or man cave. But no issues with the picture, it looks very good and bright even with lights in the room turned on, which was a major problem before. Now with full sunlight and lights on, I wouldn't recommend it, but for a normally lighted room it's great. My other options were a $5k Sony or $4k Epson, but decided to try this one and for only $1,400 (on sale) it was a no brainer. If 8K comes out as standard I might get a different one, but for now it's a keeper.

This is our 3rd projector. All Epsons. Last one was a Home Cinema 2030 with 1080p. It was a great pj at $650 new. At the 3800’s price point, I was expecting a lot of improvement. I will say I was completely blown away at the factory settings right out of the box. It is BRIGHT! Even with a window in our room the image looks incredible during the day. I’m shooting it onto an Elite Screens 1.1 gain motorized 120 from 13 ft away. Lens shift made alignment easy. I only had to tweak the horizontal keystone a bit to get it perfectly centered. LOTS of settings. Recommend reading the online manual (164 pages) and searching the internet for setting advice. Color is pretty good but slightly muted. Turn up the saturation and it looks better. Gaming at 4K was impressive. We have it hooked directly to our Xbox One. Apex and Borderlands both look amazing. Virtually no lag. Upscaling from 1080 BluRay with Image Enhancement ON induced some image noise (Ready Player One). I turned off Image Enhancement and the noise disappeared. Need to play with these settings to get the best for you. 4K HDR disc play (Godzilla: King of the Monsters) is fantastic. I still have a lot of things to tweak but here are my early impressions: PROS Out of the box performance is superb Gaming is perfect. No lag at 4K resolution Easy set up with lens shift Quiet fan 4K UHD movies are superb BRIGHT! Best mode so far is Cinema. Bright Cinema is too much for 1.1 gain screen CONS Lots of settings. Easy to get lost if you don’t know what you’re doing. 164-page manual Some image noise with Image Enhancement upscaling 1080p

I was debating mounting an 85” UHD TV on a large wall in my great room. Went with the Epson 3800 projector instead. One of the best purchases I’ve made in a long time. I’ve got the projector mounted below the ceiling about 17 feet away. It’s easy to adjust the picture size with a manual knob on the lens, so you can project from a wide range of distances. My picture is about 110” diagonal, crystal clear in UHD. I use an Amazon 4K FireTV stick with YouTube TV for regular programming and sports. I have a large wall of windows behind the projector. The projector is still bright enough to watch movies and sports in the middle of the day, although I do not get direct sunlight on the wall I’m projecting on. My only complaint is the Bluetooth audio lags the picture by a noticeable fraction of a second, so I switched to a hard line audio out from the projector headphone jack directly to my stereo receiver. The sound now syncs perfectly with the picture. Highly recommend this projector. Great solution for a really big picture at an affordable price!

This projector is the most cost-effective product

This projector is the most cost-effective product for home, I ever compared other 2 products but not 4k resolution, in conclusion , speaking of image quality, please ignore any non-4k products! But, the obvious shortage is, it does not have built-in platform to support 3rd party apps like YouTube , Disney +, etc, however you can still set up Apple TV to make it.

The picture quality on the Epson 3800 is absolutely beautiful! You also have so many viewing options to customize the picture to accommodate the ambient light in the room. I am amazed at how the stunning the picture is right out of the box, the 2 ten watt speakers are not bad at all although no projector speaker system will outdo a dedicated audio system how the sound, depth and volume is impressive. You will not be disappointed.

I use this projector for church purposes. Over the past two years, I have used four different projectors of the same brand and model. The image quality is good and clear; however, the lamp life is much shorter compared to other epson projectors.

For the price you are getting a very capable projector: PROS: Picture quality is great in 4k and HD. Its also very bright even on eco mode. CONS: Unit is quite large and the backplate connections is a little lacking. Replacements bulbs are a little expensive ($100+).

We installed this in a new media room we've built, and it has exceeded all our expectations. The picture quality is outstanding, far better than I expected even from a projector that touts 4K resolution. The bulb is also nice and bright, and the picture is easily visible even with the theater lighting turned all the way up in the room. We easily integrated the projector into a surround sound system, as well as a multiport HDMI switch to allow easy changes, and there were no issues at all from the Epson with handling the inputs/outputs.Great picture quality looking awesome in the basement..Good investment

I upgraded to this projector after buying another projector that didn't live up to the details it boasted. That being said I cant express how satisfied we are with the choice we made. We have a dedicated room for our viewing that does have some ambient light but this thing looks amazing regardless. Normally we do watch at night so the day time light is never much of an issue either way. The projector is paired with a yamaha atmos reciever and a sony 4k 3d bluray player. As well as my xbox one and a cable box. The main line hook up is a 50ft optical hdmi cable which has worked flawlessly with this projector. ( not so much with the viewsonic I had returned ) The picture quality is amazing. The original projector we upgraded from was a viewsonic 720p so it was way outdated and ready for an upgrade but we didn't have luck sticking with viewsonic which is why we went with epson. So obviously the picture is utterly amazing. It's like watching a movie for the first time. We have been fine with running on eco mode since the image is so much brighter than our old projector and with out compromising quality which is a plus because it will help make this stand the test of time. The 3D is jaw dropping. Its literally like watching at the theater. Helps that our screen is 12x9 so it's very immersive. So happy we came across this projector it's worth every penny!

This projector was a bit on the pricier side, however, for the lumens and the picture display, it is awesome. We bought this during covid quarantine to be able to able to do movies outside in the driveway. Coupled with the stereo receiver and its speakers and it does a bang up job. I was shocked how well it does in relatively bright lights, but this thing delivers and then some. Also really great for handling sporting events too. The onboard speaker is not great, but you aren't buying this unit for onboard sound. The focus is really easy to do and it works great on a 150" screen with its throw. If you do need to figure out how far you want (or able to project), I recommend using Epson's projector guide. It made the buying process really easy.

It is heavy and bigger than I expected but my old projector was about 10 years old. This thing is bright and vivid and I have not been able to set up the 4k yet. The only downside is having to push the off button twice to shut it down, my Harmony remote does not like that at all.

Fantastic picture, ease of operation/configuration (lots of adjustments like lens shifting and keystone, allows for a clean squared picture no matter where the projector is located), if you buy the network adapter then it integates well with home automation systems, uses IR remote and works fully with Harmony Remote. My previous projector was an epson home cinema projector I had for more than 5 years, the only reason I upgraded was to get 4k and hdr support, and I’m very glad I made the upgrade.

Purchased the Epson 3800 to replace an old 1080P Epson 8350, which has worked very well for many years. The picture quality in general for the 3800 is EXCELLENT, with extremely clean/crisp image quality and excellent color reproduction. The fan is a little louder than I'd like, but on ECO mode it's not overbearing (if you've got something with sound playing it will probably be drowned out), and if you've used an Epson projector the menu interface will be the same intuitive (if not vanilla) interface. The remote has large, easy to see buttons (with a backlight!), though I'd prefer to see them omit some buttons in favor of a smaller remote; there are several buttons (keystone, for example) that are helpful, but would probably only be used during initial setup. That said, the image quality on this is HIGHLY dependent on the placement of the projector, and not relying on the lens shift feature at all. I found on my first unit that the focus was extremely uneven, to the point that if the center was focused the top-right would be slightly off and the bottom-left would be VERY far off (I have it front-ceiling mounted). I returned it for a second unit, and found that the performance was very similar, but that if I centered the lens-shift it was mostly gone. After re-mounting to a position that was as close to center on the screen as possible it's much better, but my bottom-left is still quite out of focus. Some research on audio-video forums shows this is very common on the Epson 3800, and that while you may get lucky on a, generally speaking using any lens shift introduces a BIG drop in focus performance. The 8350 was nearly perfect when using lens shift (I was shifting it pretty far), so I can only presume that this was a cost vs quality issue that Epson chose to make for this more value-oriented projector. If I had to chose over again I would have opted for a different model than the 3800, at least not without taking in to consideration redoing my viewing area around it's need for 100% perfect placement. I'm not clear on why Epson chose to add lens shift to this projector if it makes such a drastic impact on picture quality; it doesn't do me any good to have a valuable feature that significantly degrades image quality. All of Epson's other business/home theater projectors have been excellent, in my experience, so while the 3800 has excellent features for the price, the real-world performance was a big let-down for me.

Upgraded from Optoma 1080P. The Optoma was great but needed a dark room. The Epson works great in any situation: 1. With the Lumens so high, moderate daylight does not "haze" the image much, so for regular TV viewing, the Epson projects the image really well. 2. As for movie watching with lights off, the image and experience is stunning. 4K is impressive and very close to the $5000,00 "true 4K" projectors which I have seen. My setup: I use a Marantz SR6014 and Klipsch surround sound. The HDMI (regular 4K capable cable - not the expensive fiber cable), is 40' which is considered too long for 4K, but in my case it works great. The HDMI from Apple TV via the Marantz is flawless without latency or pixelation at any resolution. The Epson Unit is quite a bit larger than most 1080 projectors, but still much smaller than the the true "4K monsters".

It is a really nice upgrade from my 20 year old Yamaha 720p projector. I found out after my purchase that it is not "Native 4K", the picture is still bright and clear and the 4K streaming broadcasts are beautiful.
