A lightweight and feature rich watch

This is a pretty cool running watch to have. It's very lightweight so you hardly even know it's there and it does a lot in that light package. No fancy graphics or colors here, just a basic monochrome screen (with back light) which reminds me of my old casio watch I had when I was younger. The GPS in this watch will is very accurate. You do have to calibrate it before your first run, but after that it just works great. 13 hour battery life with constant GPS use is plenty, but you can wear this watch all day and have it last easily without using GPS. You can use the Epson "Run Connect" app to track your workouts or you can use their website as well. The app is easy to use and intuitive and I have no real complaints there. My biggest complaint is with the charger that comes with the watch. It is a clip (like for a bag of chips) that you clip onto the watch and the contacts on the watch make contact with the contacts on the clip to charge via USP. Kind of a cheap set up in my opinion. Would have been nicer if wireless charging or a magnetic charger was included. The Heart Rate sensor seems to work pretty well, but I did have some issues with it not reading my heart rate due to positioning. A few adjustments of the strap (mainly making sure it was tight) and I was back in business. The price does seem a bit steep for this watch though, so because of that, I cannot recommend this to a friend. Maybe a sale price I would be able to recommend it.

This GPS watch is geared solely for runners (and runners only) who needs tracking but don’t want to carry their phone with them. It does most of the functions alright, but with the exception of having a built in GPS, it doesn’t do them as well as other fitness bands. The step counter is very inaccurate and the battery life is very short. It’s lightweight but has a design of a bulky 90’s watch. Unless you need the stand alone GPS, either get a cheaper Fitbit or pay a bit more and get a higher end smartwatch.
Good:
-Lightweight
-Track without needing a phone near it
Bad:
-Outdated and bulky design
-Battery life is 48 hours or less
-Step tracking is not accurate
-No auto workout detection
-App UI isn’t great
Form:
This watch is thick and bulky reminiscing of older G-Shock watches, but surprisingly lightweight. I’d imagine this looking even bigger on a woman’s wrist. It often gets in the way when I reach into my pockets or wearing long sleeves. It’s a black and white display, showing up to three lines of tracking info that can be customized. There’s five face buttons used for navigation the display and start tracking. The fit is comfortable and the band has many notches so adjusting to a right size shouldn’t be a problem. The HR sensor sticks out in the back and can leave a dent in your skin.
Function:
The watch can track GPS location, HR, steps, and sleep. The GPS and HR tacking is as accurate as my other devices. The step tracking is very hit and miss. I can walk ten steps and not register a single step, while other times it over register steps. It has sleep tracking and can tell the difference between deep and light sleep. It also has notifications and wake alarm.
This watch can only track three workouts, run, walk, and treadmill. There’s no auto detection and tracking has to be done manually. You can set the display for each workout but navigating through the different displays feels archaic since you have to cycle through the display using the face buttons. Once you start a workout, it takes about 10-30 seconds for the GPS to lock on. You can sync the data to your phone or computer and share it with other apps. I used MapMyRun and didn’t have any issues with syncing.
The battery is not good. Even without using the tracking, the battery only last two days. An hour of tracking drained about 20% from a full charge. It takes less than 2 hours to fully charge.
The app works fine, but the UI just isn’t as intuitive as other brands. It doesn’t go into as much details and some things are just buried under menus. Going into the settings for the watch got annoying after a few times. Each setting page takes about 10 seconds to load, but thankfully your daily data doesn’t.
Given the price point and capabilities, this watch doesn’t seem worth it. I think the average runner will have their phone on them anyway, so the stand alone GPS tracking isn’t really a selling point. You can get something like a Fitbit cheaper and has better performance or pay a bit more and get a more full feature smart watch.

A high level of ease, convenience, and usefulness

I’ve been using the Epson ProSense 57 GPS Running Watch for the weekend. I’m not a runner, but I’ve tried several times before to find a useful, easy to operate, “watch” with which I can monitor and report out my activities. I’ve concluded that this Epson ProSense 57 might be THE ONE. I’m going to use the phrase “child’s play” a few times in this review. Please don’t misunderstand my intent. This watch / activity tracking / information tool is refreshingly simple to use while offering a lengthy list of features. It’s hard to imagine so much usefulness with so little drama.
Setup: 1- Check out the Clip-on charger! Seriously. An easily placed, sensible connection accessory that can’t be confused with any other wire. 2- Find the App on your phone’s App library and install. (I’m using an iPhone6) 3- Firmware update? Connect to computer and let the App guide you through the process. Don’t walk away, it’s faster than EPSON indicates especially from your computer. Alternative: It’ll happen without your intervention while your watch recharges (if your phone is nearby). 4- Put the watch on. Fit is comfortable with numerous, closely spaced holes accommodating most wrists. I hope there are some larger replacements ‘cause my moderately chunky wrists are close to the limit. 5- Working in the App, it’s very simple to enter your profile information and learn more about the features. You can select from a lengthy set of activity types to monitor workouts. (It allows you to limit how cluttered your screen can get.) 6- I wondered if changing settings was as easy doing it all directly on the watch . . Child’s play. It’s rare to find a product up and ready to use with minimal effort, no dead-ends, and everything as described. Nice instructions and illustrations.
Usefulness: This EPSON ProSense 57 running watch is a sophisticated accessory, adding convenience to my life. It’s simply a lightweight watch if that’s all I want today. It’s constantly reading out heart rate, simultaneously. The screen is very legible, and the wrist motion of orienting the watch for viewing turns ON the screen light. (Adjusted in App for your preference.) It can be placed into various activity modes (run, walk, treadmill) by pressing one of the 5 large buttons. The built-in GPS tracking manages distance and pace as well as route tracking which is accessible from the App. This model even calculates your stride length and cadence. I read in the advertising that the watch can control your music. Nah. That can’t be true. I followed the simple instructions . . . press and hold the back button . . . and the music screen opens. Now I can skip forward/backwards or pause without reaching for my phone. . . . Child’s play.
How accurate is all of this measuring and counting using the various activity modes? I’m going to need more time to see. However, I’m also realistic enough to know this isn’t likely to substitute for medical equipment. It sure seems comparable to any other device I’ve used.
The App: All the while I’m engaged in my activities, in the background, the EPSON is sending activity data to my phone, accumulating information and approximate calorie usage day after day, organized by list, or calendar or graph. All of this is accessible from the phone App. Data is easy to view. I can use this App to modify how my watch screen displays data, with up to 3 lines available. Updating uses Bluetooth or computer connection, and both are quick and reliable. The App is rich with data, displayed how I want it, and easily manipulated for my preferred viewing.
Links: The App has built-in links and can transfer data to MapMyFITNESS, Runkeeper; STRAVA, and TrainingPeaks. There is a “Health” enable switch, allowing the Epson to share data with still other apps: mySports, FitnessSyncer, tapiriik, BEEMINDER, SportTracks, TATTA. You should have NO concerns that choosing this Epson will leave you unable to fully participate in emerging exercise programs. EPSON seems to understand the importance of synergy in this highly variable health category.
All I can say at this point is that this EPSON ProSense 57 may change your opinion of this type of product. This watch provides a high level of ease, convenience, and usefulness. I’m very happy with my Running Watch, even if I don’t run.

normal watch

I labeled as normal watch because that is how I feel about this. there are some nice futures it has. it tracks your steps, monitors heart rate, and even has Bluetooth so it will do some other futures connected with a phone or pc.
I like that you can lock it. this way you don't press other buttons. its easy to use. and easy to see and read. comfortable and use as well.
the few things that made me give this a 4 star. I feel its not the most accurate. I sometimes sit for hours for work. and I can look at this and it sometimes will count steps even though I am just sitting. same with sleeping at nights. I can wake up one morning and have 500 or so steps in already. another night I had over 800 steps in. and other nights barely any.
the heart rate monitor I feel does not work as well either. at least the one I have. I walk up a hill to work and get a little winded but I push myself. this will keep me between 70 to 90 for my heart rate. but yet I can just be sitting and it will show my heart rate over 100. or I can simply walk into a store and out and same thing will show over 100. but other times when I am pushing myself and actually doing activities that normally make your heart rate go up, this shows me below 100.
It does have a lap function on it, however I feel it should have had it along with the stop watch function. or at least in both spots.
it has a clip charging style. I would have rather have had a regular charging port like phones have. at least then, you can easily buy a cord if something goes wrong.
as far as I can tell, it does not have a way to turn off the heart rate monitor. at least not what I have found. without using gps and Bluetooth I get 3 days out of the battery and pushing it on the 3rd day. I think it would be nice to be able to turn the heart rate monitor off to help the battery life a little. at least then maybe I wont be pushing the battery life the 3rd day.
so for me this is more so a watch that you can charge with a couple extras. if the step tracking was more accurate and heart rate was more accurate then I would give it a higher rating. the steps are not that far off for the most part and when I walk lets say 100 steps it will register those steps. just will also register a few extra at other times if not walking.
overall though, for the price its worth it.

Good 1st effort, but app holds it back

I always thought of Epson as a printing company. So I was a bit intrigued to find out they were making a running watch. I think the running watch looks good, some might not like it because it's plain and black but that's what I like about it. There's no color screen, which is unnecessary and it does not have a touchscreen (again, not necessary). I assume these latter omissions were to conserve battery life. My big gripe about the watch itself is the length of the nonreplaceable strap, it barely reaches around my wrist.
The buttons on the watch are pretty intuitive. I found it easy to figure out how to navigate the watch. There's a start/stop button, select button, and two other buttons (basically up/down to go through the menus). Again, getting around the watch was no issue, but the app on the other hand...
The app is what holds this phone back. Let me start from the beginning. I charge my watch completely, while it's charging I download the app and set up an account. Then I'm told to update the firmware, which could take UP TO AN HOUR. That long to update ANYTHING is unacceptable, particularly when it's brand new out of the box. Thankfully, it didn't take that long, but I had issues along the way. There's no progress bar for the update, so several times I thought the app was frozen (and one time I left the app to do something else on my phone). After a few hiccups, I decided to just sit my phone down next to the watch and let it update. Finally, after about a 30 minute process it was up to date. But then, the time and date wouldn't sync. I went to the menus on the app (and even the watch) and made sure it was supposed to sync with my phone. But it didn't. Finally I set the time to sync with GPS and that worked. Everytime you connect the watch to your phone, it takes a few minutes to sync. It seems like every menu you go to on your phone (while it's connected to the app) takes a minute to load which makes navigating the app frustrating. Luckily, I don't do it all that often. I run, the watch saves my data and I look at it every now and then.
The battery life is just OK. I turned off continuous HR and the GPS and it lasted two full days. BUT I only went on 2 runs (I used GPS during the runs). To me, this isn't "world class battery life" as advertised. It's not bad, but I expected more, especially given it's limitations as a "smartwatch". (BTW, I didn't expect it to be a smart watch, nor do I want it to be, I'm just saying the battery life should be better since it's not doing more complicated processes as a smart watch).
AS to the smart watch component, you can receive notifications from your phone on your watch, but they're limited. First, that means you have to stay connected to Bluetooth which means the battery drains faster, second when you get a text, you can't read it on your watch. It just says text message received (and it lists the sender). So you have your phone and watch vibrating when you get a notification. Without being able to read it on your watch, there's no point to using that functionality.
As a running watch this is a competent watch. The data is accurate and I've had no issues with using it as a running watch. The first time I used it, it took a second to get the GPS signal, but since then no issues. It finds a signal pretty quickly. The dedicated start/stop button makes it quick and easy to get a run going, which is much appreciated. I haven't used it for other activities so I can't comment on its accuracy when say, biking. The HR monitor is good. I don't think any wrist based HR monitor beats a chest strap, but this is a good alternative if you don't want the additional equipment.
I must also add that this app does allow you to transfer data to other apps (such as MapMyRun and a few others), but I didn't try that out so I can't comment. I don't use other running apps. I used my FitBit before
All in all, this is a good running watch. It's problems are its app (which you can get over, unless you spend an inordinate amount of time viewing your stats within a running app) and the fact that it does nothing to stand out in the crowd. Your likely to lean towards a Garmin because of name recognition, but you can't go wrong with this watch if you need one to track your runs.

Simple and Useful

This Watch has everything I need. The size, weight and the style are just right, you may forgot that you are wearing it. I can check a very accurate HB and it has a GPS built in, so I don’t rely anymore on the app of my phone for the tracking.
Easy to set up. The watch comes with a letter of the manufacturer, with few instructions that were more than enough to set up the watch with the app. The app explains everything you need to know, extremely simple and intuitive.
Used with the Epson View apps for smartphone and computer, the GPS is great, it has 5 buttons around, 3 of which are used to navigate the watch’s menus, 1 to start the GPS tracking, and 1 that serves as a way to go “back” in the menus as well as turn on the backlight. The backlight activates when you flick your wrist. The watch charges via a clip that plugs in via a traditional USB port, and the battery lasts for about one day of use. It generates a map showing your path as you run, walk or bicycle and the watch shows your mileage in real time, that level of detail lets you analyze your performance and workouts.
The screen illuminates every time you watch on it, so it is saving battery, and if you take it off, it will go to standby mode.
Since this watch (or this specific model) is strictly designed for workouts measurements, tracking heart rate, distance calorie burnt, etc, it is not designed to take phone calls or text messages.
It also nice to see that it transfer all the data to the app.
Overall the watch works really well and has lots of useful functions that are easy to find, understand and use while exercising. As well as the Epson App. I recommend this product.

Decent product, but doesn't bring anything new

Let me start by saying this is a pretty good product. Lightweight, easy to setup, has a heart rate monitor that is very useful, etc. But, stop me if you haven't heard of at least 2-3 other products that do or have the exact same features. Plus while this is lightweight, it just feels bulky to me. I am not a person who enjoys an actual "watch" like the apple watch, this, or something similar. I feel like you can get the same features, in a less intrustively sized item, like the fitbit.
If you do happen to like the watch look of a fitness tracker, then this is great as it is probably 1/2 the cost of a more expensive apple watch or something similar. But, if you are simply looking for a fitness tracker to count steps and track your heart, I would look at the fitbits or something similar since they are about the same price.

If you thinking to replace your smartwatch with this one, think twice.
Epson - ProSense 57 is great heart rate monitoring watch good for runners. Having the GPS function is added bonus even without an accompanying phone.
Setup was ok, not easy as others smart watches.
Gives you text/email "notifications" but no other details.
Overall a good option for runners provided that Epson improves stability with future firmwares.

Can Be Life Changing

I run almost everyday, ranging from 5 to 7 days a week. I've owned other fitness watch and although I'm not naming any of those, it is hard not to compare. First off, none of the other watches have built-in GPS although they use the one from my iPhone.
I'll start with what I don't like about the Epson ProSense 57. I understand look is a matter of taste and for mine, this is an ugly watch. It has a plastic 80's digital watch look and feel. To be fair, the other ones I own have color screen and were designed to look good. If I could choose one from the ProSense series based on that, I would go with the 347. It is not that pretty either but still looks better. It is important to notice that this is not a smart watch such as the Fitbit Ionic or the Apple Watch. It is definitely focused on fitness only.
Everything else in this watch is very likable. Setup is incredibly easy and it beats all other watches in terms of battery life, especially when considering it has a GPS which was very accurate in my tests. You won't have to worry about recharging it for days making it very safe to go to bed with it to monitor your sleep patterns. Step counting was more accurate than other similar watches, probably because it uses GPS to compare distance. Heart rate was comparable to my other watches with just a couple beats difference.
It will remind you to keep moving as often as you like. My experience with this type of device has been life changing. I had tried to lose wait for the last 7 years without much success. My goal was to lose 15 pounds. Once I started using a fitness watch, I lost 17 in just 3 months mostly by keeping active as reminded hourly by the watch. More than that, I feel motivated every time it buzzes. Although I work in an office, I learned to find time to walk - inside the building it it's too cold outside - every hour. If I'm attending a meeting, I'll compensate for that later. The ProSense 57 has the same feature and more and it can do the same for anybody.
It won't display text messages or play music but you have your smartphone for that anyway. If all you want is a good fitness watch to track of your daily activities, you won't be disappointed.

Decent Watch and Activity Monitor with Features

The Epson - ProSense 57 GPS Heart Rate Monitor Watch is lightweight and comfortable, though larger than a fitness band. The monochrome display harkens back to early digital watches, but does communicate the essentials adequately. The key is taking time to learn how to use the companion app, along with the watch.
Like many similar offerings, the basic functions are quick and easy to access, but connecting with and taking advantage of the more sophisticated features requires time. GPS adds a key dimension to it's features and, along with the app, provides a nice variety of reports and feedback.
Although it will sync with phone notifications, don't expect it to replace your need to respond via the phone. It is not a smartwatch.
For someone looking for a decent, entry-level fitness tracker that doubles as a nice watch and serves up a few added features, this is a good choice.

The Epson Pro Sense watch is a neat item, but I have found quick that it is not my favorite. The watch does have some nice features and the heart rate monitor works great. The watch itself works, it tracks all your data nicely, all the problems come from the software, size and the band.
First, the band is very uncomfortable, it does not flex well and barely fits on a man's wrist. The head is a tad large as well, you can't bend your wrist without something hurting.
The real problem lies in the app and software. The app rarely works, it is always crashing and if it does work it is slow. I have a Note 8, the phone is not an issue. The computer software is just as bad, it takes way to long to upload information and is very dated looking.
If Epson updates their software and apps, it will be a 4 put of 5 watch for most people, I personally can not recommend it until they get the issues taken care of.

Nice watch

I got this watch primarily for daily activity monitoring (steps, calories, continuous heart rate) with my Android phone. Now that I've been wearing it for a week or so, I've come to really like and rely on the message notifications it displays, which is something I hadn't expected. Whenever my phone isn't in my hand (driving, meetings, etc.) it's nice to quickly glance at the watch and see what the notification is. I can tell if it's my personal or business Outlook account, Gmail, Facebook, Twitter, or a phone call. I can also easily control music playback on Google Play Music and Amazon Music, which are the two apps I use. Just long press the back button to get the music controls.
The watch comes with a quick start guide and was very easy to set up and get working after I installed the Epson View app on my phone. There is also great documentation on the Epson web site with more details if you run into questions. The battery was initially discharged so I had to give it a full charge before going through the setup. There was a firmware update that it said could "take up to an hour" but it finished in about 10-15 minutes. A couple days later there was another firmware update that I got when I put it on the charger at the end of the day.
The watch has been comfortable to wear all day and fits my regular man-sized wrist perfectly. It's a little too large for my wife's wrist to be comfortable on her. The continuous heart rate monitor works without a hitch, even if I leave the watch slightly loose for comfort. In the activity monitoring mode like I'm using it, I still have at least 70% of the battery left after about a 14 hour day. The documentation says the lithium ion battery is not user replaceable, but it's expected to have a life of 4 years.
I hadn't regularly worn a watch since my college days, so I wasn't too sure I'd like wearing this. However, I'm liking all the functionality this one has and I plan to keep wearing it. If you're looking for a fitness tracker with basic smart watch capabilities I think you'll be pleased with this watch. Besides, I think it looks more athletic than some of the other smart watches out there!

I run 20-30 miles a week and needed a new watch. After a lot of research I went with the ProSense 57 GPS. I've only had it a short time but the watch has worked flawlessly. Setup was easy once I downloaded the app. The GPS has worked great during my runs tracking my route, distance, and pace which is exactly what I needed. I don't care about a bunch of bells and whistles, I want to know my pace/distance and it works perfectly for that. Its a great price for a GPS watch, highly recommended.

Needs Improvements!!

This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.
The Epson ProSense 57 watch does a great job of monitoring of one’s heart and physical activities, but as a “Smart Phone” there are some short comings. Firstly, the watch gives you several options to set up either via phone, PC, or watch. I elected to download the app and use ‘set by phone.’ Next, I implemented the app, “Epson View”. Initially, I ran into a quick message relating to failure to install; however, I quickly recovered and completed the download process that included a firmware update. As I aforementioned, the app is very intuitive and does a wonderful job at its core function, “monitoring” of the heart. The app keeps tracks of sleep time, physical activities, steps taken and calories burned. I especially like how information is updated on a frequent basis. Moreover, there are some great 3rd party apps that can be used to aid in one’s workout needs.
Now, that I have mentioned the good, the not so good is that this watch does not do a great job of smart phone activities which is something that I need in a watch. In “My Watch” settings is where you can sync your phone in “notifications” in order to receive Emails, text messages and phone call alerts. Initially this process was problematic, but after completing one final step the app has begun to work better. The watch responds to incoming calls well and E-mails; however, I will note, I am unable to read the actual email messages, only the notification alert of a new E-mail. Unfortunately, the app does not alert me to incoming text messages which is something I was hoping that it would do. I will note, this may very well be some type of software incompatibility issue that exists with Android.
I charge the watch on a daily basis due to the fact, I keep my Bluetooth active. The charging doesn’t take too long; however, I was hoping for at least 2 days of performance without having to charge.
Aesthetically, the watch isn’t very pretty, it looks tailored for heavy duty activities such as mountain climbing, hiking, rock climbing and the likes thereof. Also, I wish Epson would design some interchangeable bands. I am aware that this model comes with a black, green and red band, but it would be nice to have an array of colors to select from.
Truthfully, I am on the fence about this watch because as I mentioned, it does a great job at its core function, “monitoring of the heart” but I think it needs some improvements, which probably will come with firmware updates.

Interesting, but...

The watch itself looks nice- like a real watch, but the band kind of feels cheap. After three days of wearing it seems OK. The app, well, thats a whole different ballgame...
***KNOW THIS*** you do not have to have the app for basic use of this watch. The app just gives you so much more info and keeps it handy (including mapping and GPS)
It really does a nice job of keeping the info in one place, but every time I open the app it takes up to a minute to 'update' which I assume is syncing. Sometimes I will hit the 'back' button on my phone by accident and it does the minute 'update' thing again. It also disconnects the bluetooth at any time it feels like it. In fact, I am currently re-pairing it again, second time today. But that didn't work so I had to reboot my phone and the watch. That took forever and a LOT of button pushing! I may not be the most tech savvy person out there so I may not be the best judge of this item, but I plan on using it to help me lose weight and get into shape. So far I can tell what I have been doing for the last couple of days and it seems positive. The sleep information looks impressive- I hope it is accurate because I seem to be getting OK sleep.
Battery lasts about 1 day with the heart rate option on.
Charging dock- OMG...you have to carry the dock with you to charge it. I am assuming it is to keep the watch water proof, but still what a PITA.
I would like to get one for my daughter...but it is expensive

Good, but no differentiating features

This running watch checks all the boxes off, but has no real differentiating features from other watches that would make one choose this over others (other than, perhaps, price).
It does what we all have come to expect these types of watches to do: have GPS, activity tracking, decent to good battery life (depending on use), heart rate monitoring and smart notifications.
I have an Apple Watch and, so, compared some of the features to the Apple Watch (ie, GPS tracking and heart rate) and it seems that the Epson is on par with the Apple Watch, so that's a good thing.
So, I don't really have anything negative to say about this, but it just seems quite bland in a competitive market where there needs to be some standout feature(s) to differentiate it from the rest of the pack.

Solid Fitness Tracker

So I want to get most of my issues with this fitness tracker out of the way so I can get to what I actually do like about it. At the price point it is being sold at you can get a fully featured smart watch or at least a better fitness tracker than this one. If it was below 100 dollars I'd be touting it as an actual fitness tracker that looks like a watch that can do both the fitness tracker and basic watch capabilities. If that was it's only problem then I'd still consider this a solid device, but it has issues beyond that. For a device that can sync up with Bluetooth and gets software updates why doesn't it automatically sync up with the time on my phone automatically? That is silly. It shouldn't be an issue; it should be something that is assumed, but not only does it not automatically do it, but when you try to sync it through your phone half the time it fails for me, and I have to set it manually. That's not all though. I was using the fitness tracker with Bluetooth enabled such that it can send my fitness data to my phone, but then I tried to place a call on my phone which was paired to my car through Bluetooth as well and it butchered the call quality making a loud noise through my speaker as to the point that I had to pull off the road and disable the Bluetooth on the watch in order to continue. That is just unacceptable to me. Here is what I do like about the fitness tracker. It does track my vitals quite well, and it constantly updates your heart rate. As a fitness tracker it's pretty good and you can even use it over night since the battery stamina is quite awesome. I also like the charger that it comes with, and while Micro-USB or USB-C would be more convenient I do like their alternative because of stable it is on the watch making it easy to travel. The buttons on the watch are large and have some great feedback when pressing them.
If the watchs issues aren't a turn off for you know that it still does a solid job overall.

The Epson - ProSense 57 is good for folks who want to have something that will help keep track of your exercise routines, but in order to take advantage of all of its features, you have to download the app. Without it, you are limited to very limited information via the actual watch.
The Epson - ProSense 57 has a pretty good size display, so it makes it easy for you to track activity. It also has a back-light display if you want to go on an evening run.
One thing that I did notice with the Epson - ProSense 57 is that the GPS feature was a bit of a pain to get going. It took a couple of attempts before I could actually get it to function, so I hope that there is some update that will help make it better.
In all, I would consider the Epson - ProSense 57 a good entry level watch for folks who want to keep track of their workouts. I don't think it will be replacing my Apple Watch, but it is another great tool to have to keep track of my workouts.

This is a very good fitness tracker and watch, I wouldn't call it a smart watch though since it does not have its own operating system but it definitely has a lot of smart features and it seems that Epson is adequately supporting it with firmware updates. I couldn't get notifications to work but that could potentially be fixed in a future update. The fitness tracking is really where this watch shines, the HR monitor and step tracking seem spot on. Starting a workout is very easy and uploading the data to the app afterwards is simple as well.
