Customers admire the M1 Dash Cam's excellent video quality and ease of use, finding it easy to install and use with other Escort products. However, some customers feel the price is high for the features offered, and the app could be improved. Concerns were also raised regarding the lack of GPS functionality and the mount's limited adjustability.

It’s a good product to record while driving or on a standstill . The only negative is that when your trying to get live feed you will have some difficulties due to app error, which they have been trying to fix .

I've always been impressed with Escort radar detectors having used an 8500 for years but I was in need of a refresh. I also had been pondering the thought of getting a dash cam (because people drive crazy, especially in Houston). Escort to the rescue! Combine a great radar detector with a dash cam and you have a perfect solution... almost.
While the iXc has a ton of great features I'm struggling with the implementation of the M1 dashcam. Don't get me wrong, the dash cam does what it's supposed to do but it just feels like an afterthought and I don't see any integration with the detector, basically piggy-backing off the detector to get power. That's it. It is nice that you have one mounting method for two devices but it could have been much more.
Since I tested these two units together my review is the combination of the two.
First I'll tackle the iXc detector. This unit is GPS enabled which while coupled with the Escort Live smartphone app allows you to mark locations for reference in the future. The detector display is easy to read with the typical signal type shown (X, K, KN, Ka, KaN, Laser) with strength of signal scale bar with audible beep (the faster the beeps the stronger the signal). Besides the beep there is a voice warning of the band being picked up. There are several buttons on the top rear of the unit. Power, volume up/down, display brightness, mute, sensitivity and mark which allows you to mark locations. Using the Escort Live app we also get a sync'd database of verified red light cameras, speed traps/cameras. Also, with the app connected to the detector the detector will display real time speed limits and let you know when you are going over with a visual and audible warning. Really a solid performer and definitely an upgrade from my old Escort Passport 8500.
On to the M1 dash cam. Not much really here but convinence. It is compable with more than the iXc detector. Check the compatibility list as there are several Beltronics and Escort models listed. It piggybacks nicely off the detector suction cup mount. A bracket and extended screw and washer comes with the camera to make sure that it is securely mounted. The bracket also allows 2 locations of adjustment to get the alignment correct. It comes with a 16GB microSD card and can support up to 32GB cards. When the card fills it automatically deletes the oldest files. By pressing the power button while on it puts the camera into emergency recording mode and those clips are locked and won't be automatically deleted as the card fills. The camera also has G-Sensors which will also lock video files from being automatically deleted. This is a great feature in the event of a front facing accident so the video captured during the accident and the adjacent files will be available. The M1 also has a built-in microphone which you can only enable/disable from the smartphone app.
Also, with the M1 smartphone app (yes a second app for the detector/camera combo) with connection to the camera's wifi you can get 1080P HD real time video and allows you to set the video loop clip time length (1, 2 or 3 minutes). All in all a decent solution but not a stand alone solution.
While I'm not a huge fan of suction cup mounting it is at least solid and I do like the magnetic attachment of the detector to the mount. We've had a rash of vehicle break ins and suction cup mounts leave a tell-tale sign with ring smudges that you need to wipe down before locking away the detector. There are other after market mounting options available such Blendmount that will tuck it up a bit under the mirror. I'd personally like to see another mounting option included with the unit. At it's pricepoint you should have options.
This is front facing only for both detector and camera. Unfortunately you are unable to piggyback a second rear facing camera, which a lot of dash cams have rear facing capability. I think this is a big drawback, especially in stop and go traffic. If you get rear-ended unfortunately nothing will pick up.
The other issue I have, and this is a big issue, is lack of integration of the Escort apps with Android Auto or iOS CarPlay. I typically use Waze for navigation and Escort Live should feed data into Waze or have Waze like features in Escort Live. It would also be nice to have the video feed display or at least camera setting available with Android Auto/CarPlay so you aren't distracted by going to your smartphone while driving. If the apps were integrated then controls would be on your radio display. Hopefully Escort is working on an update to include these into the next app update. The combo is a bit pricey at $650 with the camera not pulling its weight in the value department. The biggest draw is convenience of one package.
I give it 4 stars especially if they get Android Auto and CarPlay enabled.

If you have your detector mounted to your rear view mirror you can’t mount the camera to your detector which is unfortunate! The windshield sticky cup mount is unreliable but you’ll have to choose Between the camera or rear view mirror mount.

Video quality is not great, and file transfer takes forever, but it fits so nicely with my Escort 360 Max. I would have gone a different direction if I did not have the radar detector to match.

For 220 $ approximately could invent a better camera than it is in stock. I think so yes , the reason that I did not like. The first up to 16 GB is no longer possible. And second full hd of 30 fps could be made 60 , it would be better.

Not thrilled I never got to use this item correctly. It was made by same ESCORT brand as my radar detector and had a bad fit. Very hard to turn when setting into place. Item was difficult to Mount and if I keep trying I probably would have broken it.
Sad. This would have looked sweet next to the Escort 360 I had to go along.

Thank you for the feedback. We're sorry to hear you had issues mounting your M1. You can adjust the camera vertically with it mounted by rotating the camera up or down. If it is too hard to turn then slightly loosen the bolt holding the M1 to the bracket.

I have used many dash cams, some costing over $400 and the M1 is the best yet but could use one change.
I have the M1 paired with the Escort iXc Long Range Radar Detector and they work perfect with each other. I cannot say enough how the M1 works great, in all light and weather conditions. The loop style recording is great and the 16gb card that was already installed is plenty to store my 13 hour trips.
The camera has a microphone, so it will pick up your conversations in the car, which can be very a good laugh later and also can be used it pulled over and something changes,
Hook your phone via wifi and go into the app, check the video, download it, share it, do whatever with it. The interface of the app is where it needs lots of improvement, just looks dated and feels clunky. But, for the use of the camera, it means nothing.
Do not let the interface of the app scare you away from this great camera, the quality is great, I have even took a screen shot and was able to get the license plate of a car going the other way at 50 mph just by zooming in on my phone.
I will use this camera for years to come and really enjoy finally having one that actually works in all conditions and has yet to miss something because it didn't feel a jerk or the motion sensor failed. The M1 continuously records, so everything is caught, period!

The only thing that they could do to improve this camera is if it recorded front and back.
