    The Eufy D20 comes well-packed in a box with all the small parts in clearly numbered cartons to assist in identifying where they fit into the installation process. Ideally, if you are replacing a lock, the existing hole in the door should work. If so, the installation process is quite simple, within 5-10 minutes, if you have followed the instructions in the Eufy Security App. Once the lock system is installed and working, you’ll find it easy to connect with Alexa (should be the same for Google Assistant) and use voice control to lock/unlock your door. In addition, you can do the same via Wi-Fi using the app for control. Overall, set up is seriously easy. On the flipside: • The Eufy D20 is not pretty. It has white numbers and icons on a flat black background. Combine that with its bulky design and weight (approx. 2.5 lbs.), it appears as if it would be more appropriate on a garage or an industrial building than on a front door. If you don’t mind that, then it’s all good. • The lock system eats batteries in an extreme way! A few hours after setup, the app was telling me the batteries needed replacing. That seemed odd, but I thought perhaps the included batteries (4) were faulty. So, I installed a new set of batteries of a noted brand, and all seemed OK. Next day, the app was telling me the batteries needed replacing. Sure enough, a battery tester showed all batteries installed new were in the red zone. So, unless you have an endless supply of batteries provided at no cost, this issue is a deal killer. It is a shame that a device that is so easy to set up and works so well is hindered by gobbling up battery power and, in doing so, makes it costly to use.

    Unlock some great features

    This Solo Smart Lock is the update from the original which did not come with wi-fi built-in. Wi-fi is a very welcome feature to this lock as it allows you to remotely control your lock and get alerts when it’s been locked or unlocked. The list of features is impressive and quite useful. And, at its core, it’s a secure lock. Installation is straightforward, especially if you read the instructions and watch their YouTube video. The trickiest part for me was how to remove my old lock, which, of course, has nothing to do with Eufy. This is my second Eufy lock – my first one being the Smart Lock Touch & Wi-Fi which has a fingerprint sensor. If your budget allows, I would get the fingerprint enabled one simply because that’s the quickest way to lock/unlock. This one, however, has the advantage of using AA batteries instead of a rechargeable one. That makes it easier to manage the downtime of the lock when batteries need to be replaced versus recharged (Eufy claims up to 1 year of battery life with either lock). That said, you can't go wrong with either lock.

    With the hassle of having a handful and then trying to joggle around to get your keys out and then find the right key it can be a hassle. But now being able to just simply unlock the door with a quick touch of the fingerprint sensor it only takes a second! Another aspect that this has really helped with is that I have a pet and sometimes away from home or at work and need someone to take him out for a walk or to the bathroom, now I have the ability to designate certain people access without giving out keys to get in for family or close friends and also they keypad to give an individual a code for access. It looks really nice, well made, easy to install and setup. And with this having Wi-Fi you can allow or unlock without even being home in case of someone needing emergency access in case of fire or something. Overall I love it and would highly recommend it for others

    I called my guy to install this lock for me. So I know it takes a professional like 30 minutes. So if you're not a professional double or triple that time. Set up was pretty cool simple and easy. Full FYI it did work for me before I had the app and the Wi-Fi setup. It's just a basic lock without setup. However once I got the app going and once I got the Wi-Fi setup and synced to my Google and Google home I feel like I am truly keeping up with the Jetsons. So cool so easy and I feel very safe and secure knowing I can lock and unlock with my phone. Come in handy a few times already and I've only had it installed for a few days. Definitely see about getting one of these. I think this is the only like I'm ever going to buy.

    Ugly and No HomeKit Integration

    NOT HOMEKIT COMPATIBLE! I chose this Eufy lock because I have several Eufy cameras that I love and are fully HomeKit compatible. Imagine my surprise when I find out that the lock isn’t. This makes no sense at all. I assume it is because the lock doesn’t make use of the Eufy hub and connects directly to WiFi. Still makes no sense and I wish it did use the hub so maybe it would be HomeKit compatible. Moving on, this lock is Big and Ugly. It is built very well (feels like steel and is very heavy). I suppose that is the reason why it is so big and ugly. Especially the inside box that has no keys or anything other than the lock knob. It is just a roughly one inch thick, 5-6” high big black box on the inside of my totally white door. It works great. Setup was super simple. You simply scan a code inside the battery compartment with the app (I used my iPhone) and it walks you through installation and setup. We live in a new house, so there was absolutely no issues in replacing the existing deadbolt with this smart lock. In less than a half hour, I had it installed, connected to WiFi and programmed. If your not concerned about looks and don’t use HomeKit, this is likely a very durable, long life, and very easy to install/use lock. However, I can’t get over either of these and for those two reasons would recommend something else until Eufy’s locks catch up to their cameras in functionality and looks.

    Glad I bought this!

    So far I love this smartlock with the deadbolt. I'm giving 4 stars vs. 5 because I haven't tried programming the key codes yet. Was easy to install by a handyman and came with 5 keys, if you choose to use keys. This was an upgrade from my regular deadbolt and will be nice to assign codes to young fmaily members that loose keys!

    Finally, My Door Is Smart

    The eufy Solo Smart Lock Wi-Fi model has been a pleasure to use. Setup was pretty simple, so long you've installed a deadbolt into a door. I have done many so I got it done fairly quickly. Once I had the lock was installed, set up was didn't take long. Download the app, connect it to your wifi network, then setup your passcode. With the app, you can manually lock/unlock the door. When you're leaving, you can use the key or the passcode to lock it. The app will notify if the door is locked/unlocked as well while you're away. Very good feature if you have kids, lol. I like the fact it that it uses 4 AA batteries. Most smart devices come with a rechargeable battery, which I think would be an inconvenience to charge in order to use the lock. With the batteries, you can just hot swap them out, and have your lock back up and running in no time! So for now, I can and would highly recommend this product.

    Got this installed and it’s a nice piece of kit! Solid construction. This is a seriously heavy door lock. Installed it on my outdoor utility closet door, so I don’t have to mess with keys to get the charger in or out for my electric car. App works well enough.

    Faulty smart lock

    Putting the device together was smooth.when it came to holding the setup button for a beep was the problem never was able to get it connected to Wi-Fi.

    Collects water

    My door is in a 7-8ft foyer out of the elements, but this lock would collect so much moisture that it would drip out onto my floor, also causing the lock to short out. Got it replaced and the second one is doing the same thing. Not impressed.
