Customers are pleased with Evolve's unique gameplay and teamwork aspects, finding the action-packed experience enjoyable. However, some feel the game is lacking in story and content, particularly a robust single-player mode. The controls also presented a challenge for some players, requiring time to master.

Evolve is an exciting yet intelligent shooter. It has pulse pounding action along with the right amount of tension. It's progression system does however leave something to be desired and monster gameplay does have a steep learning curve but overall the pros outweigh the cons, be warned this is not call of duty!!

Evolve is a game that finally breaks the mold of the regular shooter multiplayer games. A team of 4 hunters battle against a human controlled monster. Playing as the monster instantly makes you feel as though you are controlling the boss character of a game. Different abilities plus your strength and speed allow you to completely dominate the hunters. Especially when they are uncoordinated and travel solo.
When playing as the Hunters you must rely on your team and each members unique abilities to hunt and kill the beast. BUY A MIC. TEAM CHAT REQUIRED.
I recommend this game for people who want a change from COD, Battlefield, or Halo. Get your friends together and have tons of fun for hours. If you need new friends this is a great game to make some. You all have the same goal.

Really enjoy this game a lot. It's still really fun playing by yourself however I would recommend it even more if you have regular buddies that you game with, because it becomes a really fun party experience . I like all the characters, 12 in total with more on the way, and 3 monsters, again with more in future DLC. I like how these characters are each unique in their own way and add something new to each match. Story is a bit bleak but in no way a deal breaker, and to me it seems like you would play this game not for the story but for its unique gameplay. I'll also say that there are 3 different game modes that help to beat the monotony of just hunting all the time. But in short, it's a great game in my opinion do check this one out at some point.

There are many 1 and 2 star reviews from people who can't look past the fact that there are a lot of paid (but completely optional) DLC options for this game. I have not bought any DLC, and I am stil having a blast! The game is a breath of fresh air for shooters. I thoroughly enjoy the hide-and-seek aspect of this game, which could easily have turned out to be a total gimmick had another developer tried this. The necessity of cooperation and teamwork to take down the monster gives this game more depth than your average run-and-gun shooter. I only wished that there was a bit more depth and character to the maps, as most places end up feeling the same, regardless of any aesthetic differences.

The idea behind Evolve is excellent- team up with three other players to go hunt and kill a player-controlled monster before it evolves into an unstoppable force and destroys your fire team. Unfortunately it is not executed very well. If you have a friends list full of people who own Evolve, then this game can be a blast- for a while. The missions do get a little repetitive, but the character progression is fun and unlocking new characters and abilities keeps it interesting.
If you don't have friends who also own Evolve, I would recommend staying away. I tried it and getting paired with random folks online is a gamble- some don't have mics (communication is essential for success), some are incompetent and won't stay together, but sometimes you do get lucky and get some decent people to play with. It's just not very consistent.
The controls of the game feel a little floaty and loose compared to other popular FPS games. I really like the fact that each character plays a role that is absolutely necessary for success, but things can easily get out of control and the game's physics make it difficult to stay on track. With practice, this can be overcome- it just takes some getting used to.
In summary, if you have friends who are willing to play this with you, Evolve might be worth a shot. However, if you are buying this to play by yourself, I'd recommend passing on it and getting something that is suited more to single player.

The game has a lot of content in that there's 12 Hunters, 3 Monsters, 4 Game Modes and several maps.
The progression system to unlock the monsters Is a little tedious, but If youre good as the class it will only take a few rounds.
Teamwork is key and if a person goes off on their own then they can be easily picked off by the monster.
And Monster requires a lot of strategy because while you're stronger than the hunters they can overpower you if they work together so your strategy is to divide and conquer.

Overall, this is a very well done game. No real campaign however you can play all of the online missions offline. I like the cat & mouse aspect of hunters versus monster and being able to play as the monster in 3rd person is fun. Sound is the strongest point on this game. If you have a good home theater or quality headphones, it really helps both sides with directional sounds. Core game only comes with 3 monsters but purchasing from BB, gives a code for an additional monster when the DLC becomes available. One of the better, more polished AAA titles for this gen to date.

I like this game a lot it is very challenging for me cause this is my first purchase on the ps4. It's pretty cool.. Very fast and the concept is very cool!! There could be more content but I am sure they can patch that in sometime.. Anyhow it takes a minute and trying to find your favorite route of hunter.. I am using the trapper and it's really fun i will level up the others as soon as I get better.. Have not played multiplayer yet.. But I am sure it's awesome..

Evolve truly offers an experience that no other game on the market has. The co-op sci-fi hunting simulator is the first truly next gen experience I have had the pleasure of playing. That being said, the lack of a unique single player experience and the limited number of multiplayer modes make the $60 dollar price tag feel just a little steep.

If you are looking for deep story then you will have to go elsewhere because the sole reason for this game is for the online PvP experience. Granted there is a short campaign that you can do that kind of builds a bit of a reason to kill your opponent and it changes depending on which side wins. Still, it is shallower than Southern California.
It would have been nice if there was a short story or something giving the background of the characters but over time playing with different combinations of hunters prompts them to occasionally comment on there pasts or why they are hunting giant killer monsters.
If you have a group of people that you like to play with, this game will be a lot of fun. When you combine fighting against a human and a couple different ways to option each monster, the fights are simple and strait forward but still dynamic.

this game is very comparable to Left 4 Dead. Its a great social game, but on your own is a little flat. Great visuals, no real story. But still fun. If you like Left 4 Dead or Titanfall, you will like this as well.

The first 45 minutes of this game for me were awesome! Evolving, playable monsters, hunting these monsters with friends if you don't want to play as one, it was a really fresh experience and I was really impressed. That's pretty much where it ended for me, however. The hunts can take anywhere form 2 to 30 minutes and 90% of the time is spent running from the hunters, or trying to catch the monster. It's just not for me. I love online multiplayer shooters but after a few matches this game left me feeling bored more than anything else. I am giving it 4 starts because it really is a great concept and a well put together game and I know if I had more patience, I would really enjoy it. I guess the easiest way to put it is like this: If you like shooters but are sick of games like CoD and BF4, you will probably love this game. If your a fan of CoD and BF4 and are looking for a similar online experience, you may want to rent this one first.

New to the game but it's great. Skirmish type game, it's like TF2 with MOBA type gameplay. Teamwork is key for hunters! Looks great, and it's a lot of fun with friends. Not sure if you'll like it? Watch some gameplay on YouTube or rent it at redbox. It's a blast!

Not much of a story line game, but if you want to have fun with friends running around and killing a monstrous beast then this is your game. Don't get me wrong, it is fun, but if you are looking for a story line like COD or other games this won't fit the bill

Game has a cool concept but can be difficult at time if you get people that like to play as a lone wolf (when on the hunters). Graphics are good, game play is smooth, decent variety. I would recommend if you have a group of 4 that you can play with.

Where a lot of high-concept games start with big promises and end in scaled back disappointment, Evolve achieves exactly what it set out to do. Through an array of intelligent design choices, developer Turtle Rock Studios has created a smart, asymmetric, multiplayer monster-hunting game that plays unlike anything else. It’s tactically deep, bursting with character, and once you get past its mildly obtrusive progression system, it offers a level of nuance rarely found in multiplayer shooters.

Evolve tackles multiplayer in a brave new way that can be truly rewarding, although more often than not, frustrating. The game is at its best when a team of coordinating and communicating hunters pursue the monster. This is a difficult feat to achieve, which is what makes Evolve frustrating. The game is quite literally as good as the team of players playing it. Sure, the solo mode works fine for learning and grinding, but the game is build for multiplayer and when played as intended, is fantastic. Just understand, it will take patience.

The Verdict
It’s rare for a big multiplayer game like Evolve to feel so considered and intelligent. Everything – skills, mechanics, and design choices – seem to interlock in a way that’s both natural and purposeful. That it’s so mechanically rich and still conveys the raw energy and fun of duking it out with huge monsters and action-figure-esque hunters is a real design feat. Its progression system stifles it a bit early on, but regardless, Evolve is a deeply rewarding multiplayer experience that packs both brains and brawn.
