When i first saw this new title announced by Bethsoft, i was like: "Holy! This is a must get!", and i was a bit saddened by the fact that it wasn't going to be developed by Bethesda directly, but when i saw the trailer, i changed my mind, this game will actually beat Fallout 3 directly, so, at this moment, i can't vote for length, since i don't know any strong details for it, but overall, the game will be, and it's actually right now a "must-pre-order-before-it-runs-out!"

If you liked Fallout 3, you'll like New Vegas

If you've played Fallout 3, you'll feel very much at home in the Mojave Wasteland. The graphics and gameplay of the two games are nearly identical, with New Vegas having a few new tweaks that makes the experience worthwile and enjoyable. New gameplay features include the ability to aim down the sights of any given weapon and the new optional Hardcore Mode which makes the journey through the Mojave Wasteland more challenging.
-Challenge: New Vegas has a variable level of challenge due to both being able to set the difficulty and because of its new Hardcore Mode. Hardcore Mode takes a very hard line on the RPG elements of the game. You'll need to find and eat food, drink water, and you'll need to sleep at regular intervals to keep your character in peak condition. Items in your inventory are also weighted differntly, i.e. ammunition will now carry a weight. Additionally, healing is no longer instantaneous as stimpaks and radaway will now heal over time, and you'll need to find a Doctor or have a high enough medicine skill and the correct items to heal broken limbs. All in all I find this mode somewhat unappealing, but if you're interested, it's there. Playing in standard mode can carry a fair amount of challenge as well as long as you set the difficulty accordingly, or it can pretty much be a cake walk, it depends upon your preference.
Length: The length of New Vegas is fantastic. Halfway through my first playthrough clocked in at around 45 hours. This is definitely a game with a ton of things to do, and I really feel that I'm getting a pretty good bang for my buck. Also, with downloadable content already on the way the experience will be extended even further.
Graphics & Sound: Graphically this is the same game as Fallout 3 with minor tweaks. Many of the character models and fixtures are recycled from Fallout 3, but thats not necessarily a bad thing. The environment in New Vegas is much more colorful and not as bleak as it was in Fallout 3. From the lights of the New Vegas Strip to the bright blue skies over the Mojave Wasteland, New Vegas is more friendly on the surface. I have run into some graphical glitches though. There are times when your gun and arms will magically drift upwards offscreen among other things. There was also a time when I left a building and was met with a blinding white light, as the game had frozen and I had to reset my 360. The sound and music is very well done in my opinion. The game brings in Wayne Newton as one of the radio DJs and the music seems to fit the desert setting very well.
Fun: I found New Vegas to be a great amount of fun. The game does have a few issues, but all in all its very entertaining and well done. There's also no shortage of things to do. If you're a Fallout 3 or simply an RPG fan I can certainly recommed this game. My one tip would be to save often on different save files just in case you encounter any glitches/bugs.

A good addition to the Fallout universe

I love fallout and always will. Fallout 3 will always be in my mind as one of the greatest games of all time. I sunk hours and hours into the game and its dlc. I was so excited to hear about New Vegas. More Fallout? Count me in.
As I began playing it I felt right at home. The game played just how I remembered it should. I enjoyed the thought of exploring and new location and tackling more awesome quests. I loved the new additions to the game as well like the greatly improved buddy system and the variety of ammo types you can put in your weapons.
Unfortunately, how it's so familiar to its predecessor is also its greatest weakness. It felt too much like a giant expansion pack for me. After playing the game for quite a few hours I started feeling like I had played the game before. The game still looks the same. Thats not a bad thing at all until you start running into the same glitches and bugs that the 3rd had. There is still very stiff animations, slowdown, game lock ups and whatnot. There werent any quest breaking bugs that occurred in my playthrough but the game just locking up on me made me too paranoid about saving the game and keeping a ton of them. I guess I was just a little disappointed that nothing was really done to correct these issues or improve the visuals overall.
Other than that, however, the game is still a joy to play. The story is great and the quests are fun. The improved buddy system I mentioned is probably my favorite addition to fallout. Your companion is usually very competent when it comes to slaying your enemies and the best part is is that you reap the xp rewards whenever your companion kills something. It makes it very much worthwhile to tag along with someone else and if you happen to find a dog in the world you can have the dog and your companion as well. Theres a lot of killing to go around.
The bottom line is if you enjoyed playing fallout 3 then definitely give this one a shot. You'll have a great time with this one if you can still look past the abundant unfixed technical flaws from fallout 3. If you didn't like fallout 3 then, first off, shame on you and this one will not convert you

Definately Pick This Up

Just want to say that for anyone who enjoys shooters, role-playing games, or expansive open-ended gameplay, this is a definate must buy. Any negative reviews are from people who don't like a wide open game world with tons of locations to explore, enemies to kill, and npcs to interact with.
And for anyone that thinks "Well this one wasn't made by Bethesda..", just shut up. It was made by Obsidian Entertainment, which happens to partially compose of formers members from Black Isle Studios. You should know those guys, they work on the original Fallout games. Don't get me wrong, Fallout 3 was amazing. But it wasn't quite what people wanted from a new entry in the series.
This game is sure to be much closer to the expectations true Fallout fans had for Fallout 3.

The game is great for Fallout fans! The open world of Fallout New Vegas is great, except its more of a waste land than actual vegas which i think is a bummer, however the weapons are great the story is great, but like always the graphics are terrible.
This game is LONG, however it is not worth 60 hard earned dollars! UNLESS YOU ARE A FAN OF THE SERIES!
ALWAYS BUY AT BEST BUY, best service always, and anywhere

Addicting!

If you loved Fallout 3 then you’ll definitely love New Vegas. The game is just as long as FO3 and has tons of quests to do. Or if you don’t want to do quests at all you can just run off and go exploring the Mojave wasteland. I’ve got about 20 hours in the game, it draws you in and is very addicting.
Game play is the same as FO3 so you won’t really be learning anything new. The setting is in the area surrounding old Las Vegas (New Vegas) and New Vegas itself). There are different perks and factions that you can either gain fame with or be vilified with depending on how you handle certain situations. There are consequences for your actions so be careful what you say and do to people! All in all, great game!

Great Follow Up To Fallout 3

There has been alot of hype towards this game, and there should be. It is a great game. It doesn't stray far from fallout 3, which to me is a good thing having loved 3. It also adds to the complexity of fallout 3 such as bring back the harvesting of plants that oblivion had, and also allowing you to create ammo, and take apart guns for parts. It also has the reputation system from the orginal fallout games, which at times can be kinda frustrating when you are trying to make a faction your friend not knowing you some how made them mad. There is also tons and tons of things to do in this game, it has triple the side quests from fallout 3 and an intresting main quest.
Negative side is the game does have some technical issues that could have been avoided by additional testing and a further release date. It can lag at times even if it has been installed, and it has crashed a few times on me, but the gameplay is so good it doesn't really bother me, and bethseda is a great publisher that always has a patch to follow whenever an issue comes up.

The games detail is practically the same as fallout 3, but game play.....not quite. All games have bugs and glitches, some that will make your game better, and some that will make it worse. Sadly, there's a lot of glitches ( more then enough ). All make your game experience more harder then needed, but hey, that means there's a challenge ! this game is still worthy of all the hype it has gotten since its arrival. And don't worry fellow PC players, there's still many many awesome mod's to use on the PC version of New Vegas. If you waiting for a better Fallout 3 keep waiting because Fallout new vegas is not it sorry for all the people that where as dumb as i was and went out and got it the frist night or the next day

This game is outstanding. I am a huge Fallout fan and for me this is a must buy. The game never ends with so many side quests plus the main quest. The graphics are really good. I love that the game is so real. Their is also new additions such as a Companion Wheel that streamlines communication with companions, a Reputation System that tracks your actions and the aptly titled Hardcore mode. Hardcore mode is so realistic and very fun and hard that you can not fast travel and everything you carry weighs (even ammo). A must buy for all action and RPG fans. Also don't forget to purchase the DLC and if you have not played it purchase Fallout 3.

All in all this is a fantastic game, and although I am nowhere near completing it so far so great. (need to get the manual its so big) The story however drops you in with a wth kinda feel. your not sure who you are, what you did etc so thiers not a huge connection like thier was in Fallout 3 with the whole vault situation. In my opinion the open storyline in New Vegas is lacking, kind of Vague, BUT this game is fantastic, you can modify weapons, create different types of ammo, skills are still there, you can gamble, theres more in depth decisions. Side mission stories are nicely done and not just a go there do that sort of thing, Companions dont seem to die and you can have more than one of them occompany you along the way, they even seem stronger as well. Be warned however dont be a rampaging murderer because you never know whom will help you.
Boone so far is a companion who is in the giant dinosaur and Kings dog is one as well. Im getting the manual so when stuck I can take a peek.

I have played New Vegas quite a bit and the glitches and crashes have not been overwhelming, I loved Fallout 3 and I was not disappointed by New Vegas. Sure they could do with a few more patches, especially since one of my companions has stopped following me even when she is checked as 'following' and I have had some other minor glitches that were fixed with a reload. Overall, the game is a definitely enjoyable and I very much recommend it. As far as I can tell, they have been patching it up piece by piece, and on the whole the story is definitely more intriguing than Fallout 3's

New Vegas continues the great story that began with Fallout 3. The world is huge and there are hundreds of things to do. It has the exact same bugs and glitches as Oblivion and Fallout 3....so why are people hating on this game. I am no professional but when you are dealing with a game this size with all the quests that you can perform...it's forgivable. It is a great story so far(about 6 hours into it), and I can't wait to see happens next.

Entertainning and worth the cost

The overall gameplay and graphics is similar to Fall Out 3. The game does not feel like an extension of FO3 since the location is competely different. Some of the quests are a little tedious but enjoyable and hardcore is interesting but it cna get a little monotonous always having to eat, drink and sleep. Not to mention having to carry food and water so you do not have as much room for goods to sell.
Saying all of that, I LOVE the game. I have put closer to 70 hours in and not near the completion. The side quests are good and help develop experience levels. Most of my time has been on the side quests so far.
Well worth the cost and lokoing for the next Fall Out already.

Great while it lasted...

I will say hands down Fallout: New Vegas is one of my favorite games. The game is great because it can be played a thousand different ways. Once you beat the game you can literally go back and play it completely different than the first time. I also like the size of the map and all the exploration that you can do.
I say it's great while it lasted because unlike other games I've played once the game is completed you can no longer explore the map. I would love to be able to finish the game then go explore the map some more...but sadly the game plays a movie at the end. You should save frequently and create your own save points if you want to explore more.
I have a few complaints about the game. They're petty and don't truly affect the game. The soundtrack is horrible. I literally think theres only 10 songs. I eventually turned the radio sound all the way down because I couldn't stand it! However, thats not a real complaint.
My only other complaint is killing some characters is insane. I've never played a game where someone who is lit on fire doesn't die. I obviously know this game isn't based on real life...but come on...you got shot in the face 5 times and haven't died?
Like I said though my complaints are minor and not even really complaints because they don't effect game play. Overall this game is great and a player will have hours of fun with it. I recommend it to anyone who likes story and mission games like this.

This game is the same graphics from Fallout 3 and same interface with a few changes. But this game brings a great new world to explore and a good storyline. The glitches almost make the game unbearable in certain parts and actually makes some parts unplayable. Hopefully the glitches will get resolved in a future update for the game. Then this would easily earn 5 stars

This game is awesome! i was a bit skeptical about buying this game because ive never played fallout 3 and im not really into rpgs but wooow! this game is so well made. The graphics are good and i like how you can switch in between 1st and 3rd person..also this game is super long!!!!! you never run out of things to do. There are just so many side quests that you forget all about the main story line!!! And you DO NOT need to play the previous fallout games in order to understand this one.this is definitely a must own for ALL gamers. Especially now that the dlc is available.. :D

here we go again, another beautiful game in the fallout series, if you appreciate great video games, then you are in for a treat, like the last fallout, this is a giant open world to explore, there are countless things to look at, missions to accomplish, weapons, etc. gameplay is solid , the v.a.t.s. system is back and really never gets old, graphics are awesome as usual, overall another great game for adults to enjoy, this is really a must buy cause you cant see everything in a rental or two, a warning though this game is very addictive so you may forget what time it is 8 hours later.. time flies when your having fun

Awesome Follow Up To Fallout 3

I've logged around 60 hours and still haven't discovered even 75 places yet. The new weapons and mods for them come in very handy against some of the new enemies found in FNV. While the gameplay feels familiar, there are a few new options available that make the game a lot easier to manage. One of the new features is the companion wheel. This allows the player to interact with companions a lot faster since you don't have to navigate through a ton of dialogue just to put items in their inventory. Another great feature is being able to create different variations of ammo for some guns at reloading benches without the need for schematics/recipes. However, I'm not 100% sure that there won't be some secret ammo recipe that I haven't discovered yet. The list goes on and on of all the tiny changes to the game that makes wandering the wastes that much more enjoyable. 60 hours logged and ??? more to go. See you in the desert!
