A solid, if primitive, Caveman adventure.

Far Cry Primal features an extremely cool stone age setting where mankind is at the bottom of the food chain, and has to work their way up. The story is thin, but it's a good enough excuse to take out bad guys and murder fluffy animals, as is Far Cry tradition. Primal's setting is really the star of the show here. It's unique and mysterious, and the graphics are fantastic on PS4, really bringing this prehistoric setting to life. It's really the gameplay where Primal falls short. It's abit, well, primitive compared to past games. There are no guns, no vehicles, no explosives, no helicopters, and so on. It fits the setting, but leaves Primal feeling like a massive step back for the series. In the place of these all these destructive tools is some seriously janky melee combat, and some unfortunately useless animal buddies. These beastly pals seem cool at first, until you realize that their ai is practically brain dead, and they're nowhere near as strong as you after leveling up abit. It's just incredibly disappointing to go out of your way to get a Great Scar Bear, only to realize he dies twice as fast as you do, and spends most of his time running into a wall. I don't want to sound too negative, though. Far Cry Primal's setting is one of my favorites of any game in years, and exploring it was a blast. Taking over outposts and, really, combat in general is still fun despite the much more limited options at your disposal, and I even enjoyed the story, simplistic though it may be. It's also definitely a breath of fresh air for a franchise in serious danger of growing stale. If the next Far Cry can offer a setting and exploration as strong as Primal, without talking away all the options and weaponry that the series is famous for, I'll definitely be on board. As for Primal, I'd recommend it, but not without some significant reservations.

    Unique change for the series

I've always loved the open maps and the detailed graphics and terrain of the Far Cry series. This game doesn't disappoint in those areas. The developers took a chance and went a new direction with the weapons package and story. I've really enjoyed the change. No game has ever gone to the caveman era that I've seen, but it's fun to hunt predators and people without being able to snipe them from far away. You have to be precise with your aim and use your surroundings and tools wisely. I've enjoyed it.

I've been playing for Far Cry Primal for a few weeks now. The game seems to get better as it progresses. If you were a fan of the previous Far Cry games you'll really enjoy this new edition to the series. Plenty of new missions & open world exploring in a great prehistoric setting. This game is worth the time you put into it.

Different Approach On Far Cry Done Well

Cool little spin off in the Far Cry series. It was a nice change of pace from the mainline games set in modern times, to go back in time to a permit I’ve era. This was executed very well and deserves to be played at least once by anyone who likes Far Cry or anyone who likes action adventure and open world games.

I don't particularly care that it's not a coop game but I do love the graphics I love the story and I love being able to tame a multitude of animals.

This entry in the series is a bit harder than the others. There's no guns and it takes some time to get stronger than the other cave people. There's not much of a story, but I guess there wasn't much drama back then lol. I enjoyed the game because I like all the side missions that you can play in any order. All I can recommend is that you up your taming skills, because theres nothing better than having a Saber Tooth Tiger or Cave Bear fighting at your side. Far Cry 4 was the best of the series in my opinion, but I must say that this game is unique.

They were pretty much spot-on with naming this game "Primal." Very interesting game with a surprisingly good storyline. If you like hunting (or the hunting portion of Farcry 4), then this game is for you. Just keep in mind that instead of AKs and rocket launchers, you will be using clubs, spears, and bows and arrows. That being said, they did a very good job of including upgrades and variations. Well worth the time and money. I enjoyed the game very much.

A decent Far Cry change of pace

If you are familiar with Far Cry, you'll know what to expect from this game. The change of time period and scenery might feel a bit lacking compared to modern weapons and environments. Being able to tame wild animals is interesting for a while. If you haven't played Far Cry 4, get the complete edition of that game instead. But if you like pretty high quality first person experiences, this is another decent one.

Overall, a good game. Has decent depth as far as crafting, skill trees, and storyline progression. Large map to explore. Sometimes the strong language disconnect (No english is ever spoken, only subtitles) can feel tedious, so it was hard for me to play for long periods. That was the only flaw, but not everyone may feel that way. Worth the money.

This newest entry has plus & negative pointers. The formula is basic Far Cry so there is a familiar feel the combat tho close can be grittier with the clubs & shanks the true vibe is the hunting & taming of the beast that is the home run for this game Negative can be a tad repetitive saving grace the side characters are excellent

Another fun entry into the far cry universe. this one takes a different approach and plunges us into a world where cro mags and neanderthals collide . overall the game has been a blast to play. new storylines new characters and more animals than the last game. limited firepower keeps you on edge, not so much because of human enemies, but because of the four legged kind. they have no qualms about making a meal out of you at anytime, so you always have to be aware of your surroundings. interesting new weapons, use of the environment to take out your enemies and cave explorations keep you entertained. as fun as the game is, it does get repetitive after awhile, same side quests, missions are short and the overall game feels shorter than the last fc. it just feels like there's not much to do. at least not enough to keep you wanting to play once the main game is completed. i'm hoping dlc's will expand on the story and offer a lot more gameplay. best part of the game? urki! that was an unexpected and very funny event.

I’m not sure why we don’t see more games based in the very distant past. Until Assassin’s Creed, the furthest into history you could expect to travel in most AAA releases was World War II. Unlike the distant future, people seem to describe ancient eras in terms of their limitations rather than their freedom. No guns, no vehicles, no structures, no rule of law or unified culture. When observed from that limited vantage, the past can seem overtly bland and simplistic. Unfortunately Far Cry Primal, in the service of a unique and expansive setting, fails to look beyond those limitations for something more. That’s not to say that Ubisoft’s prehistoric spin-off from their blockbuster tower activation franchise isn’t enjoyable. Everything you’d expect from the series is present in some respect, albeit often muted.

Graphics are really good. I like the story line. Can be addictive. You get to play a Beast Master which comes in handy when you get overwhelmed by the baddies. If you like the Assassins Creed series, you'll like this one. Plenty hours of entertainment, worth the money spent.

    Best Game This Year

I play a lot of games and have played the Far Cry series before. When I heard about this one, I knew I had to have it. So, what's so great about this game? Lots. First, it's not another First Person Shooter. That's a big plus since every game coming out seems to be just another shooter. This one puts us @ 10,000 BC and there's not one rocket launcher, not one grenade, rifle, pistol or any other modern weapons. This gives the game a fresh feel and gives us a fresh look at this genre of game. The next awesome thing is the Beast-Master aspect. You get to tame and use animals from Wolves to Sabre-tooth tigers and use them as allies to take down enemies. Some are stealthy others are like tanks and just take out enemies. It makes the game very fun and gives it variety that just shooting guys never can. Overall, this is my favorite game this year. I'm on my second play-through now and the game doesn't get boring. I highly recommend it.

Far Cry has beautiful graphics. This is my favorite game on PS4 right now. I feel like too many games take a long time before giving you the freedom to explore and just mess around at your own pace; not this game. I was loose in the open world in just minutes. Great game!

I was never a big fan of Far Cry, and only played FC3. I picked this up on sale, and figured why not. I really love the setting in prehistoric time. The graphics and gameplay are awesome. There’s so much to do, and so many weapons to do it with. If you’re not prepared the wild animals will eat you. The badgers are small but really nasty. If you’re not usually a Far Cry fan, give this one a shot. I’m glad I did, and already bought the next game.

Primal is just as fun as the previous Far Cry titles thanks to the ability to tame certain wild animals to fight for you, an immersive world/story with a unique language and a variety of ways to take down your enemies.
