Excellent Lens!

The images are outstanding and the AF speed is right there with it. I would recommend every new Sony shooter to purchase this as their first lens!

Sharp and fast.

A great lens with Sony's superfast auto focus, sharp without hunting for focus. Solid build. A bit heavy but provides good balance for my A6300. Great for travel because with the zoom range you can cover most situations.

Great lens for every-day shooting

Before this I was using the Sigma 24-70 F2.8 for my daily shooting, however the Sigma 24-70 is much more heavy and bulky than this Sony 24-105 f/4. Because of its weight and versatility, I never take my camera anywhere without this lens.

Sharp but Heavy

My camera came with the regular 28-70 kit lens, and although a decent lens, that lens lacks versatility, sharpness and speed. The 24-105 lens is much sharper and faster. On the con side, this lens is heavy and doesn't zoom smoothly. I find that the Canon lens to be much sharper and smoother than this lens for about the same price. Overall, I find Canon glass much better. This might be why a lot of photographers use Canon lenses with an adapter.

Perfect for simple street photography!

It does not do well in low-light situation due to the f/4, but it makes up for the 105mm when needed in a quick shot. The whole process of purchasing and picking up this lens was smooth. Bestbuy makes everything easy for me to continue buying electronics. I plan to purchase another lens soon, preferably a prime lens.

Well worth its price

I have tested it through each major zoom level and aperture setting and only found very slight softening in the corners, but that's pixel peeping on my 60mp A7Riv. Most zooms you need to learn its weak spots, not this one. Love it. Also light given its quality build. Convenient range for all purpose shooting. I gave up on 2.8 on the similar priced Sigma 24-70 for f4 on this lens to gain the extra zoom reach. For my style of photography that's well worth it.

Better than expected!

Owned for 1 month when reviewed.This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I don’t use this type of lens all that often and some of the higher zoom-ratio lenses I’ve owned in the past have quite frankly been, terrible… not this one! It’s actually sharp at all focal lengths- in fact, I can’t think of anything within reason that it does “wrong” optically. It’s expensive for this class of lens, fairly large and weighty, but it makes quality images. If I had to leave the house with only one lens in my bag (god forbid!!), it might be this one.

Awesome Travel Lens

It's very lightweight and compact so it makes it awesome for travel photography. There are a couple of issues I have with it. One, the zoom ring is a little firm. That makes it a little difficult to smoothly zoom in and out when shooting video. If you only plan to shoot stills then this is not an issue. In fact, people who shoot stills prefer the zoom ring to be firm because they want the lens to be precise and to stay where they left it. Two, the zoom happens outside of the body instead of an internal zoom. That does put this lens at risk of dirt, dust, etc to get into the lens. It does require a 77mm UV filter thread which I found for very cheap on other websites. Overall, I love this lens but it is not a good lens for dusty dirty places or if you want to shoot video. If you want to shoot stills then this is a great photo. It does everything from group shots at 24mm, portraits at 50mm, and almost macro at 105. So it's a great lens that covers such a wide range that it can take the place of 3 lenses in your bag. And that makes this a perfect lens for travel.
