    My home remodel allows me to have the smoke alarms hardwired now. I no longer have to worry about battery runs out and hearing the non-stop chirp.

    Nest never gave false alarms. Nest has pathway light. First Alert gave false alarms on the 4th of of July during the day and then again in the middle of the night and would not let us silence them. No way to silence them when there was no smoke.

    Unlike some reviewers, I find the build quality of this product better than OK. I do miss the 'night light' feature of the old Nest sensor, but that's not the end of the world really. This is located in our Bedroom and we have had no false alarms after a month.

    I bought this specifically because it was designed to replace the Google Nest Protect which was discontinued by Google. It connects to other Nest smoke detectors so that’s good but its build quality doesn’t seem to be as good as the old Google products. The volume of the audible warning is not as high. Time will tell if it holds up as well as the Google product.
