**Introduction**
Hey fellow readers! Just finished thumbing through "American Traitor" by Brad Taylor on my iPad, courtesy of Apple Books. And guess what? Got it for zilch thanks to my membership with My Best Buy Plus. Pretty sweet deal, right? So, I thought I’d share my two cents on this read.
**About the Author**
Brad Taylor is the real deal when it comes to writing military thrillers. The guy's got firsthand experience, having served in the army for a good chunk of time. This isn't my first rodeo with his work, and let me tell you, Taylor knows his stuff. He's got a knack for weaving stories that feel like they've been ripped straight from a top-secret dossier.
**Plot Summary**:
"American Traitor" puts us back in the boots of Pike Logan, Taylor's go to tough guy. This time, Pike's traipsing around Australia and Taiwan, getting tangled up in political intrigue and espionage that could spark a major international incident. It's got all the trimmings of a classic spy thriller: tension, high stakes, and a plot that zigzags like a sidewinder missile.
**Writing Style**
Taylor's got a no frills style that's all meat and no fluff. He sets a pace that has you huffing and puffing to keep up, in a good way. The guy describes a firefight like he's still got the echo of gunshots in his ears. You won't find any purple prose here; it's all action, tactics, and the kind of insider lingo that makes you feel like you've been temporarily drafted into the special forces.
**Characters**
Pike Logan is as solid as they come, the kind of hero who doesn't need a cape. The man's got layers like an onion, and Taylor does a bang up job peeling them back one mission at a time. There's also Jennifer Cahill, Pike's partner-in-crime (or anti-crime, I should say), who's more than just a sidekick. She's tough, smart, and can hold her own. They're like the dynamic duo of covert ops, and the sparks between them? They keep things interesting.
**Enjoyment & Engagement**
I'll be honest, I was somewhat hooked. When you're mentally dodging bullets and outsmarting bad guys alongside Pike and crew, you know you're in for a good time. It's the kind of book that makes you miss your stop on the bus because you're so engrossed. And for someone who usually only reads on my commute, I found myself cracking this one open at home, too.
**My Best Buy Plus/Total Member Experience**
Let's talk perks. Getting this book for free felt like I hit the jackpot. The process was a breeze - a few taps and the book was ready to roll on my device. It's a nice feather in the cap for the membership, adding more value to what I'm already paying for. Plus, who doesn't love free stuff? Especially when it's a page-turner like this.
**Final Thoughts**:
So, here's the skinny: "American Traitor" is a solid entry in the Pike Logan series. It's got enough twists and turns to keep you guessing, and the action's as tight as a drum. If you're into thrillers that feel like they could be tomorrow's headlines, this is your jam.
**Rating**:
I'd give this baby a solid 3.5 out of 5. It's not going to rewrite the genre, but it doesn't need to. It's comfortable in its own skin and delivers a punch. If you're a fan of heart-racing action, then you should definitely give it a whirl.

I recently downloaded the book "American Traitor" by Brad Taylor on Apple Books for free as a My Best Buy Plus member. I am not usually an avid reader, but I really enjoyed this book! The plot was fast-paced and exciting, and the characters were well-developed. I couldn't put it down!
The book is about a former CIA officer who is framed for treason and must go on the run to clear his name. Along the way, he uncovers a deadly conspiracy that threatens the security of the United States.
I thought the book was very well-written and suspenseful. The author did a great job of keeping me guessing until the very end. I would definitely recommend this book to anyone who enjoys a good thriller.
Here are some of the things I liked about the book:
* The plot was fast-paced and exciting.
* The characters were well-developed and believable.
* The setting was realistic and immersive.
* The suspense was well-done and kept me guessing until the very end.
Overall, I really enjoyed this book and would definitely recommend it to others. If you're looking for a good thriller to read, I would definitely give "American Traitor" a try.
Here are some additional thoughts on the book:
* I appreciated the author's attention to detail. He did a lot of research to make sure that the book was realistic.
* I also liked the way the author handled the sensitive topics of treason and national security. He did a good job of balancing the need for suspense with the need to be respectful of these issues.
Overall, I thought "American Traitor" was an excellent book. It's a must-read for fans of thrillers.

I would love to read this book. It was supposed to be free for Plus members, but when I redeemed the code I was given, I got a book by Molly Shannon instead.
I should’ve known with Best Buy’s “Customer Service” to stop there, but I did not. I started a support chat and waited 7 mins for someone to reply. After giving my name, e-mail, and phone number, the agent went back and forth for several minutes before stating that I would have to call Best Buy support. Total time wasted… about 20 mins.
I called the support number given and was placed on hold for 7 mins. Then someone answered and asked for my name, e-mail, and phone number. I had to explain everything again. I was placed on hold for a bit and then informed that I would have to be transferred to another department. Total time wasted… 35 mins.
I was placed on hold for another 5 mins. Then I was asked for my name, e-mail, and phone number. I had to explain the issue for a third time. I was placed on hold for a few mins and then told I would have to be transferred to another agent. Total time wasted, about 45 mins.
This time I was actually transferred directly to another agent. I still had to give my name, e-mail, phone number, and explain the problem for the fourth time. After a few mins, I was told that I would need to contact the publisher of the book directly for further assistance. I then hung up and went on with my life. Total time wasted… about 50 mins.
I should have known better. Every agent was uninformed and difficult to understand. But this is Best Buy customer service, why would I expect any different?
TLDR: I got the wrong code issued and went through a tortuous and maddening maze of ill-informed customer service agents that wasted nearly an hour of my life. I did not read the book.

Sent a bad code. Says it has already been redeemed. All “free” books I tried to redeem said the same thing.
