Customers love the 450 Sq. Ft. Window Air Conditioner's cooling capabilities and ease of use, frequently praising its simple installation and effective remote control. While some found the unit a bit heavy and noted the noise level, many appreciated the price point and energy efficiency. Overall, the positive feedback on cooling performance outweighs the negative comments regarding noise and weight.

I bought this window unit to use in my bedroom, as my apartment is on the 2nd floor AND I do not have central air. This bad boy gets the job done quickly! Not only does it cool down my 400 sq. ft. bedroom in no time, but if I leave my bedroom door open it cools down the rest of my apartment to a tolerable temperature without having to run my much larger window unit a/c concurrently. I live in Kentucky and our humidity hovers between 80-100% in the summer, so this air conditioner is a workhorse! In addition, this is an energy star product and I have not noticed a big spike in my electric bill either. The only drawback is that it is a bit loud, but that’s to be expected. It is RIGHT beside my bed, literally 1 foot away from the edge of my headboard, so if I’m watching TV I’m sure my 1st floor neighbor hates me. Haha! This a/c also comes with a remote control with built in thermostat so you can lay your remote down across the room and the unit will cool the room according to the temperature being sensed by the remote. Or you can be extra and lay in bed 1 ft. away like me and use the remote to change the settings without ever leaving your bed. HA! Pretty cool technology! #winning #adulting

This AC gets soo cold, and really does a great job cooling off a large area quickly. We live in an apartment and when you’re cooking in the kitchen, the heat from the oven gets absolutely unbearable! This window unit cools our very large living/dining area off quickly & it even cools off our kitchen. I recommend this Frigidaire AC window unit. It’s easy to install, and very easy to operate. I love the economy setting so you can set a temp and when it gets to the particular temperature in your room, the unit automatically turns on, once it’s cool enough and gets to a set temperature, that you’ve set, the AC will automatically shut off, to save energy. It’s also labeled as “economy saver” so that helps knowing that your electricity bill won’t increase too much from being on an entire day or night. This is really helping since it’s started off being the hottest summer in NY in the past decade.

July 21, 2018... current outdoor temp 98...heat index, 113. I bought this to supplement my central ac to help cool off the front of my house which faces the afternoon/evening sun! I currently have the temp set to 70, and it has successfully kept my entire house at a comfy 73 with the help of the central unit which usually reaches 78/79 this time of day during the summer. Installation was a breeze and so far it works as well as I had hoped it would. I recently also purchased the 6k btu for my bedroom and I’m loving it. It too, was super simple to install. I added nylon window screening, cut to fit and attached with adhesive craft magnets to help keep debris out while allowing air to flow freely. (Pic 2). This unit unlike my 6k in my bedroom also came with self stick foam to cover the baffles for better insulation and to keep insects out (Pic 1). I just used 1/2” foam craft board cut to fit to cover my smaller units baffles.

I bought this a/c back in May 2018, and have been using it in my bedroom. I live in a duplex in Louisville, KY that was built in 1929, with no central air, all original [read drafty] windows, and I’m on the 3rd floor. Needless to say it gets very hot and humid in there! This a/c is powerful, puts out a refreshing arctic blast, and could possibly cool off my whole 1100 sq. ft. apartment, although I haven’t tried it (I use an even larger one in the common area). Since this a/c is in a window less than 6 inches from my bed, I will also note that it is particularly loud. If it’s in Eco mode or on automatic temperature vs. constantly running on high, medium, or low, it wakes me up every single time it cycles off and back on. I’m sure this next issue is location specific, however, I only decided to write this review after searching for and failing to find methods to clean black mold from the interior styrofoam. It is definitely growing, and I can both see and smell it! *gags and sneezes* Unfortunately this unit only has a 1 year manufacturer warranty, and I did not purchase the extended warranty. That being said, buy the extended warranty!!! Aside from the black mold *insert nervous laughter* this is a good a/c, and I would recommend it if you don’t need absolute quiet, and want to be cool and not sweaty.

This AC is good product. but Product management is bad. this is new, but The radiator fins are bent since opening. Why? Does it manage properly? Is this American quality? If it is in Japan, there is no such thing like this.

After, only having purchased this unit and a larger Frigidaire unit less than 90 days ago and probably only using maybe a dozen times each, my smaller unit(this one) has developed rust in the corners of the rears of the units. Both units were properly installed and pitched correctly. I had just removed both units for the season and was very disappointed to see this on one of the units! And of coarse the return period is over. I will be reviewing the warranty information promptly!=/

I bought this during a heatwave because I woke up sweating with my ac on, initially I was going to get a larger btu one but they were out of them in store so I got the next in line. This unit has a fairly large footprint and fills most of the window which I like because I don’t remove my ac during the winter so that’s less space left for drafts. It even comes with stick on foam sheets to insulate the accordion sides. I was amazed at the amount of foam things that were in the box. It’s like they believe you won’t be replacing this thing for a really long time so hey here’s all this insulation to stick on. It’s a little heavy and awkward so I recommend having somebody close the window on it while you hold it. You can do it yourself but if you don’t install on the first floor i don’t think you should risk dropping it because it does want to pull you out the window with it. It’s a beast. My room was a ridiculous 85* and after installing this and running it an hour my room was 68*. I had put the dog bed under the previous ac to try to keep her cool but she moved to the far side of the room after this was installed it was finally too cold for her. Supposedly according to calculations I should only require a 5000/6000btu but I doubled that because my room has all day sun and is unbearable like a kitchen would be with an oven on all day and what I had was not sufficiently cooling. So far this is doing the job. I have a similar unit in my kitchen that’s been running well over 4 years. I’m happy with Frigidaire’s air conditioners. My less than sufficient old one was a LG. It’s not excessively loud but it’s not quiet enough to be considered a bedroom unit in my opinion. Sometimes I wake up because I think there is a diesel vehicle idling outside but after becoming coherent I realize it’s the ac compresser. This has happened 3 times lol but I’m sure I will learn to filter out the sound. If it was quieter I’d give 5 stars because it deserves it.

Pros: * Ice cold air blasts out, cools down room very quickly. * Eco mode is good if you use it in a larger room or are awake and dont mind the noise of kicking off and on. * Installation is a little tricky for a first timer but very simple and you do not need additional brackets even though its heavy (it does balance the weight) * The remote has a thermometer for remote sensing which is good, because it will stop blowing AC since the air around the unit gets cooled before the rest of the room Cons: * It's very loud, if you have this in a bedroom like I do and it's set to Eco mode, it will kick on and off which will wake you up easily. I researched a lot of models and this was supposed to be quiet so I dont know what to believe in those reviews any more of the level of noise. * The noise level between low and high fan almost makes no difference, and the volume of airflow is not much different too. * The obnoxious beep when you change a setting is so loud its ear piercing - forget changing the settings late at night if someone is trying to sleep it's like an alarm going off. Maybe they needed the beep to be louder than the unit itself so the amped it up? * Will need some additional work to help seal the openings around the unit, the included foam pieces worked ok but I used some gorilla tape to seal it off and help lock it in place * The metal fins on back arrived damaged, but it's too much of a hassle to return or exchange so I decided to keep it unfortunately ---- Overall I would recommend this unit to cool off your room.

I bought this after my current one of 13 years couldn't keep up with the demand. Easy to install, price was descent, easy to use controls. Cools down my room very nicely. Only thing I would mention is it does sound like a jet taking off when it kicks into high blowing, but I've gotten use to it.

Having been through easily a dozen window units, moving from apartment to apartment, I decided to get something a little more powerful, eco-friendly, and that looks decent. This fit all the criteria, and cools the space really well. I'm pleasantly surprised at how well it does relative to the price-point, and it's worked remarkably well on all modes (including my favorite, the Eco mode). Also, it's balanced really well, so it's actually easy to install, in spite of it's weight.

    1. Given it's listed weight, I found it surprisingly easy to maneuver; I installed it myself. Tip: use a towel if you have tile or wood floors. 2. Wow. As a typical apartment dweller, I usually underestimate the appropriate size of an item to fit my apt. This is a very big and effective cooling unit; I have a vintage unit with 11' ceilings and a 22' living room (and open kitchen), and this thing actually shuts off in Eco mode -- as if to say it can handle more. What's better is that I've had to raise the temp setting, and I like it COLD. And it only draws about half the power of a hair dryer when the compressor is on. 3. WHAT DID YOU SAY? I CAN'T HEAR YOU. While it does not have the appealing scream of jet takeoffs, this blower assembly (even set on Econ and Low) is LOUD. It's a really effective and powerful cooling unit, surprisingly efficient for its size, and I got it on an open box deal that was an absolute steal (thanks, Best Buy -- especially shipping it to me just before it got REALLY hot). But, good God, this thing is install your own Walmart store blower loud.

This unit is filling in for a 1 and 1/2 ton unit, until I can afford a replacement. It does an excellent job cooling and removing humidity. I am using this to cool two rooms for an total of 380 sq. Ft. Do to the layout, I have had to purchase 2 tower fans to get good temperature coverage. This has worked out very well. The remote has a thermometer built in which is great. You set the remote across the room and the unit runs until the desired temperature is reached. Nice feature. The Eco mode and fan modes work well. The unit is not super quiet. The sound level is comparable to a box fan set on medium. The install kit the unit comes with is very nice, but was not used. I did a semi-permanent install. Outside sounds and air leaks are a non issue. Over all it is a great unit with a reasonable price point.

This unit cools quickly and intensely, but unfortunately is very noisy. But my previous 10,000 BTU unit that this purchase replaced was also noisy, so noise might be inevitable at 10,000 BTUs and higher. It's possible I could have gotten away with 8,000 BTUs and considered exchanging it but didn't. This unit has important features, like the Eco mode and the Sleep mode, and is easy to use. I'd recommend the Frigidaire brand to anyone. One gets used to the noise, and noise perhaps can't be avoided on a unit this size and at this price point.
