Great visual programming tool
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Game Builder Garage follows in the line of Nintendo's Mario Maker series (and many others going back, Mario Paint, the N64DD creator games, etc). Similar to some popular visual game creation softwares today like Unreal Engine (just think of this as that on training wheels), this game allows even young kids to learn and practice building game environments at home on a Nintendo Switch. Once you've gone through the first couple tutorials you can hop online and either share your creations or get inspired from some very ambitious creators in the online community. Whether you're looking to build your first game or simply play the creations of others this game has a lot to offer. I'm excited to see if Nintendo adds to this series with some more tools, an expansion, or even a sequel. But as is this game offers many hours of fun for those looking to invest some time.

Great learning tool, esp good to teach dev basics
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Ok this is a great tool for getting into how game creation works. But be warned you got an hour long tutorial you have to do before it lets you loose into the creation tools. At least the tutorial is actually helpful Once that is done you can get in and create some really neat stuff in about 4 major game types, Shooter, Puzzles, Platformer, Racing. And if you are creative with the tools, you can make more then that.

Amazing for learning
||Posted . Owned for 1 year when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This game surprised me when it was announced, and I was very pleased they made it. I really enjoy Nintendo games like this and I am very pleased with the final game. For those who are young and are interested in coding and computers than this is a great stepping stone to a potential career. This is even great for older audiences who want to get into coding basics. This title is actually very complex in its tutorials help a lot. I highly recommend this game for those who want to learn how to enhance their coding skills.

Great Purchase
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. When I asked my son what he wanted for his birthday, this game came up. A while back we downloaded a demo of this game and he really enjoy it. So, I was happy to purchase the full version of this game as it seemed more so on the educational end of video games. He can essentially create and play his own game. The game is very easy to follow for a 9-year-old especially since it has visual coding language. I love the fact you can share you games with friends, he will often create a little game and have his sibling play them kinda like Super Mario Maker without the character of course. For the price of this game, and STEM aspects of this game I would definitely recommend.

Pretty decent
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. It's a good bit of fun. The nodons are super cute, and the tutorial was fairly entertaining. If it were priced comparably to most Nintendo releases, it probably wouldn't be worth it, but I felt like I got my money's worth. There's also a great community online of builders, lots of games to try out. If you really want to learn game development, it's not an especially amazing tool, but it's a fun place to start.

Thank you BestBuy. Bought it for my 10 yr old son he has been asking about this game since he heard about it. Almost great, limitations hold it back
||Posted . Owned for 9 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This game provides a very intuitive engine for helping to make your own simple games. It is very easy to pick up and start to draw out an environment, add characters to it, and add 'coding' for behavior of those characters, even some simple AI. For this it gets four stars. The reason it doesn't get five stars are the limitations. The characters that can be added are limited to those included in the game. There are limits as far as how many characters can be added, among many other limitations. Some creative game designers have worked around these limitations to make interesting games; however, these are generally quite short. If GBG could be 'opened' up while maintaining its accessibility, it would be truly awesome. As is it's good, but I haven't felt compelled to go back to it in quite some time.

Great for the price-good into to programming
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This game is fun if you have ever wanted to see what goes into making a game. You can drag and drop and throw something fun together or get real deep into the “Nodons” and crest something unique. Overall very limited if you have a PS4 and the game “Dreams” but this is a good start.
