||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Opening the box was like only getting a couple of pieces that I needed. I had to order a cord so I could go online and get the maps on there. Still haven't received the cord as far as I know.

Nothing good to say!
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Junk. I bought this as a replacement to my last Garmin. Got it set up and downloaded it’s maps to take it on a 2000 mile road trip. It failed me miserably! It went offline literally every time I actually really needed it. Screen just went to the Garmin logo screen. Not pleased with this purchase.

NOT user friendly
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Purchased for my motorcycle. No RAM mounts are available for this model. I mod'd a Nuvi 52 mount. Arrived with a dead battery, after charging overnight, the battery only lasts about 20 min. Must always be used with 12 cig adapter. Bummer if you wanna program via the recliner. If you program a route (like trying to hit all the twisties from A to B) the unit will keep recalc to shortest or fastest route depending on what you have set. Every time you touch the screen in map mode, it tries to save a waypoint. Frustrating to use.

||Posted . Owned for 2 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. Some car does not have the lighter 12V interface. But the USB cable included in this GPS is too short. The map is not updated.

Posted .Although manufacturers have got more clever at hiding them all vehicles manufactured in North America have a 12v accessory port. The USB cable is short due to it being for map updates done by connecting the device to your computer. USB port do not provide the amperage required to power the unit while in use. In regards to the maps loaded on the device, depending on when it was packaged it can be a version or two behind. However, updating is included at no additional cost. Great features, sometimes poor routes.
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Below is a detailed review. To sum our experience up, the GPS worked well on a longer trip. However, on our next trip it continuously tried to route us to a longer route (miles and time). I would look up your trip on Google Maps ahead of time so you have an idea of the route options before blindly following the GPS. My wife and I purchased the Drive52 shortly before our vacation because our old GPS needed a map update and it was cheaper to buy this model with lifetime map updates rather than upgrade to lifetime maps for our old unit (we bought the GPS on sale). During our vacation, we drove over 1,700 miles and used the GPS for the entire trip. We were never lead down an extraneous route and always arrived at the estimated time. The unit also provided an arrival time adjusted for the next time zone at the beginning of the trip. We found the FourSquare and TripAdvisor ratings to be useful. And it was especially helpful to have the built-in maps of the national park we visited because there were times when we did not have a cellphone signal. Since we had used the GPS for our vacation and it had worked well, I decided to try it out for our holiday weekend trip to the lake. We visit the lake a few times a year and always stay at my in-law’s place which is about 4 hours away. When you look at Google Maps, there are 3 main routes to get to the destination. One route goes through the downtown of a major city but takes slightly more time from our place. The second route takes a different interstate around downtown and is more direct (less miles and time). The third route is the “scenic route” and has many hills and curves and requires you to drive around the lake to reach out destination. Since we travel to the lake often, we have memorized the shortest route (in both miles and time). This route also has the cheapest toll. So, we set out on that route and decided we would ignore the GPS if it wanted us to take a different route. Along the way, the GPS tried to direct us toward the “scenic route” even though it is longer in miles and time. I should also mention that I own the model without traffic, so that could not be an explanation for that route. Thankfully we ignored the GPS and continued on the route we knew (the first choice on Google Maps) and once we passed the turn-off, the GPS took ten minutes off our arrival time! An hour later, another highway would have taken us back down to the “scenic route”, and the GPS again tried to direct us toward that route. We chose to ignore it again, and it shaved off another several minutes. After our weekend at the lake, we took the same route home and used the GPS to keep track of our arrival time. The GPS then tried to re-route us back to the major interstate instead of the US highway we were traveling upon. This happened 5 times along the route and each time we ignored the GPS, it shaved 5 or so minutes off our arrival time. I’m not sure if there is an explanation for why the GPS tried to lead us on the different routes. Since we don’t have the traffic feature, that would not be an explanation. And, according to Google Maps (and the time shaved off by ignoring the GPS), our route was faster and more direct. In addition, we had updated the maps only a week or so before the holiday (our vacations were nearly back-to-back). Finally, I made sure when I set up the GPS to select the option to find the fastest route (as opposed to the shortest mileage). Overall, I think the GPS works well for it’s intended purpose. Since this is the no-frills model, I bought it just for mapping ability and to save cellphone data. I will continue to use the unit for future trips. But I will make sure to look up directions on Google Maps before leaving. That way I can ignore re-routes that would not be helpful.
