Pros 1 - Very crisp and sharp display. 2 - Sturdy built 3 - Love the magnetic mount. No more fiddling to mount the GPS. I use Garmin friction mount for this and not windshield mount so not sure if it vibrates (read few complains on this) Cons 1 - Gets very hot in summer. I live in Arizona and it's so hot that you cannot touch it to unmount. 2 - On a cloudy day, it did not lock satellite signal for almost 40 miles of drive. Not acceptable. Hence deducted a star. 3 - Did not find a way to avoid tolls in my Navigation settings. 4 - It has just 200 MB space left after updating software (maps) ... not sure if that's enough for future (lifelong) updates. If you need a GPS ... I recommend this.

I got this GPS as a replacement when my previous Garmin had problems with the traffic cable. I looked at Garmin's website to see which one had the features I wanted and went with this one mainly because of the lifetime map and traffic updates. I like the features in here that tells you about things that are coming up such as railroad crossing, speed changes (downwards), and curves. The voice command feature is useful in case you need to change destinations while you are driving. They've also added other items to the voice command menu such as detours, which is good in case you see traffic up ahead that the GPS feels is not bad enough to cause an automatic reroute but you still want to go another way.

Purchased this to replace my old nüvi 360 which ran out of storage space for map updates. I picked it up just before my 1,100 mile drive to Florida, and as much as I loved my 360, this one blows it out of the water. Everything is amazing - information about your next turn, lane guidance, speed limits, live traffic, speed/red light camera warnings, speed limit change warnings, railroad crossing warnings, and much more. I love it.

The Garmin DriveLuxe LMTHD 5 is everything that people are saying it is. All features are great. It paired up to my iPhone 1st time. I turned off many of the warnings in settings because I just don't need them. The unit is high quality and has a fast processor to keep selections and changes snappy. I really don't have any negatives about the unit. The Garmin software ,on the other hand, was not so user friendly. Many reboots, unplugging and re plugging in the unit to update the database. ;(

I needed a replacement GPS since my new car did not have one. This model comes with traffic included. Great suction cup with magnetic base to hold GPS makes for easy removal and storage. Easy to use and has voice commands. Can connect to phone via bluetooth to make has free and use phone data to access extra apps. Big screen easy to see and very good touch screen.

Overall, so far, a very good instrument. Nice wide screen with great graphics. Voice commands are timely and to the point. I have found no mistakes in location designations thus far. The map download from Garmin is quite extensive and takes a while to finish. I feel it's a good buy.

I needed to replace my previous GPS 2589LMT with a newer model. After reading multiple reviews and few Youtubes, I pick this model, and I will say I am very happy. Very nice product, well built, easy to use. I particularly love the Powered Magnetic Mount.

This is my second Garmin GPS, I had an older Nuvi for the last six years but the battery finally died. The Drivelux model has some great features that I like including a better display, voice commands and a link to my smartphone so I can use it hands-free.

    Rapidly Losing Faith in Garmin

I originally bought a Garmin Nuvi (800 I believe) years ago and it was a miracle in a box. It was logically laid out and the dashboard view was a favorite on road trips. I decided to upgrade for the voice control and the traffic features, but was soon to be disappointed. Why? Read on... Garmin's maps, have sent me over dirt access roads several times, This never happened with my Nuvi. One of these drives led to me getting stuck in the mud, AAA refused service and $450 to get pulled out of the mud. A second time I was led 45 miles past my destination a top a high dessert plateau asking me to continue several miles down this dirt fire access road. I tried to call and verify this as the appropriate route only to find no service. And with that I high tailed it out of there and no longer trust Garmin's equipment fully. So what else is not to like It appears this unit uses a different Garmin OS because my trip dashboard is gone. Replaced by a multi page screen. Entering an address is easier. No longer do you need to give the destination city before the address. Great job! This is a minor issue, but it sucks that they don't advise prior owners changes. Another issue is that the unit has left me hanging usually exiting a freeway off ramp. The unit will just go silent for a mile or two but the map continues to update. This unit also seems to lose the satellites more often than I remember my old unit doing so. However I am using this unit more often in urban situations as well as just using is more frequently. Voice command is a really handy feature but it has a hearing problem. The unit wakes by saying "Voice Command", but often will not acknowledge the command due to the volume of the stereo system - often when the volume is quite low. Not sure how this will translate to ambient noise from your passengers due to the location of the unit and ambient noise sources. And of course the unit frequently misunderstanding me. When the unit asks for a phone number. When I say a phone number: "(# # #)- # # EIGHT - ZERO - EIGHT - # " for example The unit often hears "(# # #)- # # EIGHT - FOUR - EIGHT - # " . I don't understand how the unit can hear ZERO as FOUR, but it can...8 time or more before it hears me correctly.

    Great GPS for everyday use

First, setup is quick and painless using a computer. Second, the magnet that holds the GPS unit to the suction mount is the greatest feature about this unit. No more struggling to align the unit into notches. The magnet literally snatches the unit from your hand and aligns it to the mount perfectly... useful if you're driving and need to hook it up quickly. As far as the GPS functionality goes, it's Garmin. It works great. I've been using it everyday for a month and I have no issues with it. Oh, you don't have to worry about plugging the power cable in and out every time as the cable plugs directly into the suction mount as opposed to the GPS unit.

Significantly improved screen quality. The new user interface requires some additional learning, but works well. The voice quality and level of detail in the prompts is greatly improved. Very Happy.

so far so good helps with traffic and I don't get lost any more, just some times it can't pick up my voice correctly so maybe it will improve my speaking then, some times I have to type in the info foe it to work, but over all it is very good maybe one of the best out there to get my car around safely I just it thumbs up and that is great, buy one and see for your self, I connect it to the windshield in my 1997 f-150 and plug it in power 12 volt and I can still see through the windshield great product, I remove it after each use and update it on my desk top, thank you

I first purchased the Garmin Drive assist to replace my Garmin Nuvi 3790. When I got home, I found out that very few states allow windshield mounts. I could not find a dashboard mount that would allow you to use the dash can. I returned the drive assist and got the Garmin Driveluxe. I really like this unit. Some time the voice command is a little picky. The unit is quite accurate and performs quite well. Very happy with the unit.

I had a Garmin Nuvi for many years and really didn't want to replace it but it started acting up and had no choice. All the new ones were overwhelming to pick from. Spoke with a rep from Garmin and she guided me to this model. It's sleek look and design and nice. I finally understand street names and I love this model. Would highly recommend.

I was looking for upgrading my last Garmin LMT and bought this model after 5 months Garmin released 2016 model. This is the best model I ever had since last 111 years. It never betrays, directions and audio is awesome. Screen quality and size is very very convenient. If you want to buy a really good Garmin GPS, you can trust this model.

Does everything you could want. I was hesitant buying because the reviews I read mentioned that the GPS gets extremely hot, although it gets a little warm the extreme heat seems to be from the sun beating down on it. It really seems quite cool during night operation when the screen is darker.

It works well with touch or VERBAL commands. It is impressive how it shows with lane to be in. It has free maps update and the latest traffic info, even on the not as busy roads. That is impressive. Very few things I would change.
