Seriously this Garmin is amazing. I bought it with money earned from a laptop purchase while it was on sale and wasn’t expecting much but wow was I blown away. Super easy to connect with the Garmin app (I have an iPhone) and it only took about 20 minutes to get to a full charge. Using for the first time in day to day activities today and am really excited! I used to own an Apple Watch but after I used it for a couple of months it started to really lag and not catch when I was working out. This Garmin sends notifications, has do not disturb enabled when I have it set on my phone, and automatically catches every workout. Seriously. So. Impressed. Also I have a bigger wrist (to the point I was worried I wouldn’t have enough room to space with the sizer) and it fits like a charm!

I love this watch! I got it when it was on sale and I’m so glad I did. I think it’s accurate and I love syncing it to the app! Something about seeing your stats motivates you to keep moving! The only downside is that if worn too long, it bruises/causes breakdown of the skin on your wrist. Sounds worse than it looks, but it is something to be aware of. To prevent this, I loosen it up a bit or give my wrist a break from it from time to time. It might be helpful to take off the watch and wipe your wrist dry after exercise as well.

I thought this watch was awesome and was going to be great. It functions fine for now but shortly after getting it, like a few days, my screen developed a dot that’s yellowish in color and it has just continued to grow and I’ve only had it for about a month. By the time I noticed it, it was past the 14 day return time frame. Super bummed.

I love Garmin Select app that supports the fitness watch. The watch options are relatively basic but work well for my use. I have an iPhone so the notifications for certain functions are limited to the Android operating devices ie., I cant answer the phone when notifications indicate a call is coming in. The platform doesn’t allow for multiple functions simultaneously ie., I can’t check the weather without ending/saving my current activity. But works well at tracking my calories burned, steps, heart rate and high intensity workouts! And it’s easy to set up and operate.

I bought this to replace a Fitbit that died. Garmin is better in the way that I don't need my phone to capture my hikes. The Garmin Connect app offers everything I need with the fitbit app. Forerunner 35 is a good entry level fitness watch. Unfortunately, the display started to fade and I got a Vivoactive 3 to replace it.

I bought the 35 as a replacement for my Forerunner 410 since it had all the same features at a relatively low price. I intended to use this only for runnng but I like the ability to track steps, movement and sleeping patterns. Since the battery lasts so long I'm wearing it all the time.
This locks to the GPS location very quickly so I don't have to wait before I start my runs. It's much easier to click through the current stats while I'm on a run.The built in heart rate monitor is much better than using the chest strap so now I'm tracking that all the time too.
The watch face is the right size and looks fine to wear when I'm not running. The wrist band is comfortable and easy to adjust but I wish it was shorter for my narrow wrist. I like the notification alerts from my smartphone too.

I really like this Forerunner. I use it to track the miles I put in on the disc golf course or during practice. And with the built in GPS I get a map of where I've been. I also use it for my cardio workout to keep track of heart rate and heart rate zone. I found I needed an external heart rate monitor for accuracy but it connects to the forerunner easily using ANT+. The internal HRM works fine most of the time but during cardio it loses contact with my wrist. May be sweating or not tight enough.
I found something I didn't know I wanted to track. Intensity Minutes. The WHO recommends 150 per week. Who knew? So I have this as another goal for good health. I've had this a month now and like using it. Plus it was on sale and it's so much more than a fitbit at the same price.

Great real-time tracker with confusing app

What I like about this tracker is the ability to check progress in real time. It keeps track of things like steps, mileage, heart rate, calories burned (not to mention time and date). I did have an issue at one point where the steps/mileage "page" on the watch face suddenly was gone. This being the prime use in my case for having it, I was frustrated. I worked through the app, which is a bit confusing at first, and found nothing to change this. Went to the on-line owners manual, which was helpful on several fronts, and ultimately had to reset the watch back to factory defaults. Once done, the steps/mileage page was back and has been there since. Like most of these, it relies on arm-swing to measure steps and mileage. This is fine unless the arm is otherwise occupied (pushing a lawn-mower, or pushing a wheelchair around Spain as I did) the steps and mileage don't get counted. Battery life is impressive, I've gone seven days without charging, and the handy battery icon on the main page lets you know how charged the battery is. The display is big and easy to see, the time can be displayed either digitally or analog. The alarm works well, and when synced with your smartphone vibrates to indicate an incoming call with caller ID displayed - a nice feature when in a noisy environment where you may not hear your phone. It syncs periodically with your phone or you can manually sync. There are other features, of course, for runners measuring time, distance etc. You can share all your stats on social media through the app if you are into that. Overall I'm pleased with this tracker, though there is a bit of a learning curve with the app.

I love this watch. It tracks my all day activity, sleep, excercise. Can talk to my heart rate monitor and cadence monitor for cycling. Called a running watch but tracks cycling and general cardio, and is easily customized for other activities. Comfortable to wear all the time. Waterproof and holds a charge for a week when not in GPS mode. Good as a simple step/activity tracker, but will collect enough data for a serious athlete. Garmin app is a great interface.

I purchased the FR35 mainly for the wrist heart rate and step counting features. I have a Garmin GPS and had a Polar H1 (wrist strap broke).
I will go trough the features I have used:
HR
Seems to be fairly accurate when I checked with my BP Monitor which also does HR.
Steps
When you do not do a specific activity like running, walking or biking the device counts your steps by your arm motion not the GPS. If you do some activity that makes your arm move even if you are sitting it will count as steps, so you need to be aware of that, but overall I think the step feature works well.
Biking
Works great, but you need to make sure the GPS is turned on.
Walking
Works great, tracked well when compared to a GPS
Running and Cardio I have not used as of yet
Sleep
This is a great feature I did think I would use, but it tracks light and deep sleep along with bathroom breaks. Very interesting data reports.
Notifications
Another feature I did not think I would use but it is handy to get vibrating notifications without having to look at your phone or PC.
Software Updates
This was the only problem I had. When I got a notification about a Software Update, the device would lockup. After two calls to Garmin Support the Update feature is now working. Be aware of this potential defect.
Durability
I am concerned about the wristband since there are no replacements available now, but hopefully will come later if a problem. The device seems okay now, but I understand digital devices are only expected to last three years, I am guessing that will be the life of FR35 and supposedly something better will be available then anyway.
Garmin Connect Software for you phone or PC
The Garmin Connect program is great. after syncing you get all kinds of data including maps, elevation, HR, speed, calories, etc. It is fun to see your progress or lack of over time.
That is all for now.

I liked this watch so much I actually bought a second for my wife! It is a great introductory watch for heart rate, training; especially running. The other features work just fine, but my main use is for long distance running. The heart rate function does not work well when swimming. Otherwise, a great product.

I am totally getting my money's worth from this device. It tracks my running and cycling activity as well as my heart rate and daily steps. So far, I'm using the GPS tracking only once or twice/week which requires me to charge it approx once a week. As the weather cools down, I'll be doing more training outdoors so I would expect to charge it more often. This watch definitely has a lot of great features for the price.

After researching for years, my husband finally decided this Forerunner 35 GPS Watch was for him. He loves it and compared it side by side with his very old Garmin watch from just after Christmas until January 15th when he finally went all out on the 35. Some things he was looking for included long battery life with fewer charges, all of the heath and fitness monitors, GPS for steps and a more readable display with the time always up. A big plus for me was it affordability.

Previously had a Forerunner 25 and upgraded to this because I wanted a heart-rate tracker. I tried a smartwatch but the battery life was horrible. This lasts several days, counts steps, all-day heart rate, and you can record walking / running / biking / cardio indoors or outdoors. Navigation is simple. GPS signal is quick. I workout 3-4 times per week and when I run it's usually 3 miles or less. The band is stretchy, but I don't get the sense it will tear as easily as the previous model did - I've used this nearly 2 months. I'd definitely recommend.

This GPS watch is easy to use, with 4 buttons to control all operations. The two tone display is easy to read even in bright sunlight. The band is secure and comfortable. The basic functions (steps, distance, heart rate, calories, and GPS tracking) work very well. Many activities are supported, but I have only used, walking (hiking), running and bicycling, which work very well. It was very accurate at tracking my route when hiking, but this requires connection to a computer or smart phone. The GPS can take a minute or two to lock in the satellites at times. The battery lasts a week or so, less when GPS is activated, but charges by USB very quickly. I am happy with my purchase.

We got this on sale and it is worth it all day at $99. The GPS takes ~60s to get signal, but my 10 year old loves it. I might have different feelings at $149, as there is some competition that might eclipse the Garmin 35.
App is great. No complaints at $99 and good battery life.
