It’s very nice and most importantly it is useful. I am not a techy guy but it is not too complicated to understand what’s inside this gadget if you would just play on it and give yourself some time to know what the buttons are then you should be able to navigate. It has the option to trek, cycling, driving on the road and walking whichever you prefer tou would be guided by this GPS handheld system.

Montana 700i - Works Great

Initially purchased the Montana 700 but realized that the cost of adding the City Navigator map to the 700 was the same as just buying the 700i, plus with the 700i you get the inreach GPS tracker if you decide to use it, so I returned the 700 and bought the 700i.
Overall I'm happy with the 700i. It tracks well, gets you where you want to go and is full of options for whatever type of navigating you're doing.
Battery life isn't too bad. I use it on my dual sport and have been running it off the battery for a few weeks now and it seems to last 5 hours of riding depending on how long I have the screen on.
Price is somewhat high, but hopefully it lasts for years.

After using OnX and Alltrails the last several of years, I was really excited for the Montana because it had the potential to address multiple needs in one device, but it ended up being a step backwards on a lot of levels.
..Garmin really needs to up their game because—everything—that the Montana does, there’s an app out there that does it faster and at least twice as well. For instance, it is very slow at calculating street routes and the route guidance is probably 15 years behind what Google maps or any other app is doing. The web application for route planning is lacking a lot of features and is still buggy years after release with annoying problems dropping/saving and editing way-points.
Obviously there’s a lot of potential for the Montana 700i, but it just feels and performs like something built using the hardware and software of phones from 15 years ago and the only feature that really that stands out is the inreach GPS tracking and satellite messaging, but the inreach mini already delivers both of those features in a much smaller package.
Note about the internal memory! The internal memory is literally so limited that you can’t update your maps without installing an MicroSD card to expand it—also—it cannot except any memory card above 32gigs and it must be formatted/re-formatted in the FAT32 format.

This was an upgrade from my Garmin GPSMap 62s. I wanted something with a larger screen and more durable with more function to use on my SXS. The Montana was the answer. It’s easy to use and is loaded with maps and features for everything on and off the road.

I am glad I have this to stay in touch with my relatives while I'm working in remote desert canyons. It's battery is a little weak for how big and bright the display is, but I don't leave my GPS on since it's too hot anyhow. This is a must have if you work in the actual middle of nowhere and you have a bombardment of text messages when you don't check in on time. It's prevented my family from calling emergency services for me.

I bought this because I hike backcountry and I work in remote areas. I pay the monthly fee of 60 ish to message unlimited. I rarely use it. The garmin software is very foreign to apple users. I does work well but it is pretty big and its heavy. I have the suction cup mount on my windshield. It is a nice security.
