1 year battery? WOW! I have owned a Jawbone UP and nike fuelband before and even though those are nice trackers, the constant recharging you have to do weekly can be a chore. And they normally need charging at the most inconvenient times too. Leave it on the charger for 3 hours or so and I find myself accidentally leaving home with out it. So here comes the vivofit! A year battery life and it also tells you time?!?!? SOLD! The vivofit's size is very similar to the UP and the Fuelband. Its only slightly larger to make room for a screen. I'm a regular watch wearer so the vivofit actually replaced my daily worn watch as well. Before, I would have to sport both the UP band and my watch on the same wrist. I'm very satisfied with what its suppose to do. The app is something that needs a bit more work from the developers. Its not as nice as the UP or Nike's app. The sleep tracking in the app isn't as robust as the UP's. If I could rate just the app on the iphone, I would rate it 2 stars. Another bonus is that you can switch out the band's color to match your mood.

The Garmin Vivofit not only is a watch but it is also a pedometer and tracks my sleep as well as it can also be worn while swimming. So far I've not had to replace the battery either.

It was easy to figure out a preteen is wearing it and it is holding up well which I appreciate. My one criticism is you can't read it in the dark.

I received my Vivofit for my 63rd birthday and I love it. I am training to participate in the National MS 3 day 50 mile Challenge Walk in September and the Vivofit is the perfect tool to monitor my daily average of 5 miles per day. The Vivofit setup was easy. I'm not great when it comes to computers but the Garmin website has easy to use instructions. I like that the website gives you reward badges for steps walked, it also pairs you with a group of walkers with similar goals as yourself in a weekly step challenge. It's fun to see how you compare to your group. I try to finish in the top 3rd of my group! I like the fact that the Vivofit is also a watch. I haven't had any issues with putting the band on my wrist. The Vivofit comes with two straps, a sm-med and a med-lg ensuring a perfect fit. The Vivofit also has a sleep monitor which I find helpful. I would high recommend the Garmin Vivofit to anyone interested in counting their daily steps and miles!

This device fit my criteria: instant and easy to see visible display, can wear to swim and count strokes, can track "steps" while biking (I wear it around my ankle underneath my sock for best results), and low profile. I find it to be comfortable and pretty "fashionable" if you purchase additional colored bands (which change easily). I did find, however, that a black shirt permantly discolored the orange band. Only thing that kept me from giving 5 stars is that you do not get credit for steps if your arms are stationary while you walk (I.e. Pushing a shopping cart or stroller...). It synced easily with my iPhone using Garmin Connect. After unsuccessfully trying to pair it with my iPad also and emailing Garmin support twice, I was told that you cannot pair/sync it with more than one device. Wish that had been in the literature, but otherwise not an issue.

Keeps track of activity (steps) and how many steps are left, as as well as how many miles you've walked. Tracks your sleep patterns. Tells you the time and date. Calories burned. This one does not track your heart rate the next model up does. (I didn't want to wear the chest band all the time.) Fairly accurate ...I pit vivo against my GPS device and the steps are fairly close. Also has the RED line of death to let you know you need to get moving. Thankfully it does not talk. Overall best $60 bucks I'v spent on obtaining my fitness goals.

I wanted a device that would track my steps, calories burned, sync effortlessly with my phone, and replace my watch. This Vivofit by Garmin does all those things and does them very well. The only thing I wish was slightly better is the comfort level of the band. This is by far the most accurate pedometer I have ever used. It's as accurate when counting steps as GPS enabled devices. However, it cannot track movements other than walking and running. For example, no matter how bumpy a bike ride you take, it won't count any of it. On the plus side, you can;t cheat by setting this thing on a raucous dryer at the laundromat. This is also the only one I've seen that is waterproof enough to swim or shower with it on. Which is great, except it doesn't do such a great counting laps in a pool. The bottom line is, if you want a smart tracker that will also show you notifications from your phone and track your rides via GPS, then this is NOT the device you want. IF however, you're like me and your cardio workouts are mostly walking and running with a little bicycle mixed in, this device is perfect. This was the first pedometer that accurately tracked our trips to Disneyland at roughly 11 miles of walking without the aid of GPS.

The Garmin Vivofit is a great addition for the person wanting to keep track of their exercise program. The battery last for a year and does not require charging. You can track your sleep patterns, keep track of your calorie intake, and track your steps. Easy to program and easy to sync with the app. Just put it on and get started.

I wanted something to track my steps that I didn't have to put in a pocket so my steps started tracking always, plus wanted something to track sleep to. This does the things I was looking for at a reasonable price. Plus I don't have to charge this.

I did a lot of research before buying the Vivofit. I had a small Fitbit, but the reviews for the Vivofit sounded so good that I thought I would try it. I am so glad I got the Vivofit! I love that it is completly waterproof! I wear it all the time, including in the shower! It tracks steps, and it tells you how close you are to a target set for you. It also tracks your sleep...deep, light and movement during the night! I think it is a great fitness band. It does a lot of other things, clock, date, calories...and all of this syncs with the Garmin website or, better yet, the app on your phone or pad. It shows charts and graphs...I like to look at my sleep patterns each dat, and I am always checking my steps. I can't say enough about this wonderful fitness band. Oh yes, and you can get different colored bands if that is what you like. You won't be sorry if you get the Vivofit.

Purchased one to help track my steps and sleep, but I find myself constantly checking to see how many more steps I need to reach my goal, how many calories I've burned, etc... I've really enjoyed this purchase and now my wife is asking for one for her. I wish I would have purchased the vivofit 2 but ONLY because of the backlit display for when it is dark. Other than that, I think it is a very good product.

I am not a runner just someone trying to increase daily steps. The tracker seems to work really well and I feel is an accurate measure of steps. I like that the display is always on and you can toggle through to time, steps, etc. Since there is no light you cannot see display at night, however you don't have to keep recharging like other fitness watches so that was a tradeoff I was ok with. They say battery should last a year so I'm hopeful that is correct.

I bought this for my wife and she loves it. She really wanted a watch that would calculate her steps a lot better than her phone and this watch does this perfectly. Syncing the watch to your phone or computer is tricky at first but the learning curve is extremely quick. She loves how it sets a goal for you and automatically adjusts it up or down depending on whether you reach that goal or not. If you don't move for a while it motivates you to get up and move for a few minutes. A great tool for the person who wants accurate steps, a product that syncs easily, and doesn't need heart rate information. (You can purchase an optional heart rate monitor if you want)

I am older and not very tech savy and I find this fitness band easy to use and sync. It seems to accurately count my steps and give me info about my activity. I enjoy the sleep information. I am not an athlete, just want to get my 10,000 steps/day in and this is doing what I need.

I have had my Garmin Vivofit for a month and a half now, and it replaced a belt-worn pedometer. I like the Vivofit for several reasons. It is waterproof, attaches securely to my wrist, and is comfortable enough that I never take it off. It has a keeper that fits over the band so I know I won't lose it. It is slightly less accurate for step counts than the pedometer, but accurate enough for my purposes. Based on inputs about my weight and stride length, it also provides readouts of my calorie expenditures for the day and distanced walked. Because I already had a Garmin-compatible heart-rate monitor, I can also get a heart-rate readout. Pros: Uses watch-type batteries; does not need to be recharged frequently Provides a cue when you have been inactive for over an hour Comfortable to wear and not easy to lose Varied data, including sleep activity Cons: Syncs with smart phone or computer, not both (although you can see the results on the computer). Interface a little clunky Must initiate sleep data and turn it off by pressing a button Display is not backlit (to save battery), so it cannot be seen at all in the dark. All in all, I am very pleased with the Vivofit as a replacement for my pedometer. it is not for athlete who wants tremendous amounts of data, but it is great for a power walker who wants to track step and sleep activity. One final note. I do a lot of exercise on a stair climber and it does not record these steps. I don't know of any activity tracker that will do so.

I enjoy using my Vivofit fitness band because it is easy to set up and track my steps, calories, sleep. It is easy to sync to my computer to track my progress. I like the fact that it has a clock and the date so I don't have to wear a watch too. It also keeps me motivated if I do not get active after an hour of inactivity. I have worn my Vivofit since I received it for Christmas, I only had a step counter before now.

Tracker good - Garmin system not

Bought for my daughters to help keep them active. It has done the trick! They see the red bar on the tracker indicating being inactive too long and will get up and move. Does a great job tracking steps, distance, calories, sleep, etc. Now trying to sync with Garmin is a different story. Since receiving these on Christmas, we have not been able to sync with Garmin Connect since Dec 31st. Appears many are having the same issue. Very frustrating to not be able to track trends and see previous history. Hoping they get this resolved soon. At this point this is a very overpriced pedometer. Another issue is my girls are under 13 so I tried setting them both under my email account. Garmin's system cannot track 2 fitness trackers. When syncing worked, it was quite the pain to get each of them synced and then realized even though I changed the 'active' tracker on the account, it still wrote over the other daughters information. Should be able to have multiple trackers under one email log in. Not very user friendly. If Garmin can get their systems in order, I think it will be great!
