Love my microwave

I replaced my old GE microwave which was still working, but i had broken the vent in the front. This new GE microwave has the vent on top. GE makes great products.

Be careful of upper flange when installing filter because if it is not inserted correctly, door will not close properly. I did not notice tab was not correct until after install. Yes I had to remove unit to access top screws. Just a hassle. But works great and good deal. I like dual lights and dual exhaust fan intakes under unit for stove top.

This unit requires that the FAN run at all times-even when heating a cup of water. Or just warming a bagel. the FAN is so loud. I found and downloaded the manual and there is NO WAY to turn it off the fan. I later saw it printed on the inside framework of the microwave. I am not sure if this is a new thing in microwave design-but it makes me use it less. The 'bang' sound of the door latching when as well as the fan running can be heard on the other side of the house, in a different room. Sooo disappointed. If I had the $$ I would replace it. It does seem to take a bit longer to heat up a cup of water-but it does do what is intended...just is annoying how loud it is.

Posted .The vent fan will make a sound similar to a vent hood. This exterior fan noise on the over-the-range microwave is a normal sound when the vent fan is in use.
