Customers love the convection oven and ease of use of this 5.3 Cu. Ft. Self-Cleaning Freestanding Electric Convection Range. Many appreciate the variety of burner sizes and the overall performance. However, some caution that the glass top requires careful handling to avoid scratches.

Our old range needed to be replaced. I always do a lot of research before making a purchase. This range was the best rated throughout several websites. I like the idea that you can bake conventional or convection. My favorite part is the number pad where you just punch in the temp, timer or clock time. No more pressing the up arrow 10 times to get what I want. I also like the fact that the oven temp and timer displays at the same time. It gives you a little melody when the timer gets down to the 59 seconds. It's extremely user friendly. Other reviews have said the smooth top is hard to keep clean, but I haven't had the problem. I wipe it off after each use and once a day, clean it with the Cerama Bryte cleaner and it shines like new.

I love being able to choose just the right burner for my pan but I still need to pay attention when turning it the right direction (left for smaller burner. right for larger burner). There is still so much to learn so I have kept my manual handy if I am trying something new. The only thing I do not like is the shiny black stovetop. My last GE stove had more of a grey and black speckled finish so it didn't show dust or spots. I guess it's a good reminder that it could use a dusting.

We replaced our old electric range with a Samsung electric range. There were issues with the front of the stovetop getting extremely hot when the oven was in use. We exchanged for another, no difference. We decided to switch to a Samsung gas range. It too had issues with hot areas that were hot when they should not have been. We decided to give the GE Electric Range a try since it had good reviews. We have been very happy with it. The front of the stovetop does get warm when the oven is in use, but nothing like the Samsung. The oven temp was off a bit, but it is adjustable. Overall, very satisfied with the performance of the GE!

My previous two ranges were GE's. I love the size of the oven and the ease of usage so naturally when we moved to our current house and did a kitchen renovation, I chose GE appliances again, this time in slate. I love them. They go with most any decor from contemporary to farmhouse look.

So my old stove was all but dead. This thing is a great setup. It has both the small and large burners to cover a wide variety of pots/pans. The over bakes perfectly.

Hello bobby - thank you for reviewing your new range. Stainless steel ranges have knobs that are electro-plated plastic, but are weighted so they have the feel of metal knobs without the heat issues. Thanks for providing your feedback and for choosing GE Appliances! NANCYatGEA GE_Appliances

THE RANGE WORKS INCREDIBLY WELL, HAS SENSITIVE TEMP CONTROL AND AN EFFECTIVE VARIETY OF BURNER SIZES. THE OVEN HEATS UP SO QUICKLY AND SEEMS TO MAINTAIN ACCURATE HEAT MUCH BETTER THAN ANY ELECTRIC OVEN I'VE USED.

This is one of four appliances purchased to update our kitchen. We don't bake often and have only used the convection feature twice - not sure about that yet. Otherwise, the glass top looks/work perfectly and we truly like the look of the oven. No issues so far - it's been installed and used for about 5-6 weeks now.

The stove is easy to use. I love the individual burners with multiple sizes. My only complaint is the cooktop is hard to keep looking great. It shows streaks when wiping it clean, only a deep cleaning with the cooktop cleaner will not show streaks.

We're still getting accustomed to the many features of this range. All in all, it's been great, however we are having some difficulty regulating the burners. Liquid seems to boil at any setting. We can't get them to just simmer. It's a work in progress I suppose.

    Fragile Top and Delivery Issues

I ordered this range online and it arrived slightly damaged. Arranged for a replacement that arrived in worse shape than the original. The glass top of this stove is very fragile. It's easily scratched and can be broken if you were to drop an item on it. Full disclosure, I only used the range a couple of times due to the length of time between replacement and return. Turned the oven on briefly and was overwhelmed with the smell. That may be the case with all new ranges/ovens, I'm not sure. The power boil option wasn't very impressive. I expected it to boil water a lot quicker. I didn't ding the rating because of the delivery damage, even though it's possible that the damage is a result of the manufacturer shipping process. I will explore different models/manufacturers in deciding how to proceed from this point.

Great features on this GE Range

I have been using my new range for about one month and am enjoying some of its great features. I especially love the dual size burners, the convection oven, and the slate color. The glass top is easy to clean with Cerama Bryte. The oven has 3 metal shelves with 7 slots for adjusting the shelves. The burner knobs are metal. This range offers a 5th "warming ring/burner" and it works well for keeping gravy hot. Only a few "cons" - the lettering/numbering by the burner knobs is slightly difficult to see in certain light conditions (light numbering on slate finish). No problems seeing the middle display panel, however, as this is against a black background. The metal construction of the bottom drawer seems a bit flimsy (might bend easily) and I'm not sure how that drawer will hold up over time. But all the ranges that I looked at had similar flimsy bottom drawers, so just not as well made as older ranges. Overall, I am very happy with my new range!

Works great. Oven bakes evenly. I like the safety light on the top so we know if one of the burners is still hot. I like that the bottom heating element in the oven is not exposed so it makes cleaning much easier. We really like the slate color much better than our old stainless steel oven.
