Great Washer, not the cloth diaper savior

Overall I like this washer and it does a great job washing clothes. It has a large capacity which always nice to have for blankets and sheets and such. Many washers with such large capacity do not do well with small loads but this washer also does great with small loads and senses appropriately not to waste water. I bought this washer hoping that it would solve my cloth diaper conundrum. Most cloth diaper wash regimens include two cycles for a pre-wash and then a heavy duty wash. I was hoping that the power pre-wash would allow me to just run a single cycle as I work full-time and sometimes forget to start the second cycle and then my diper laundry takes a whole extra day. Unfortunately the power pre-wash does not allow for adjustment of the water level with the extra water button and the power-pre-wash pre-set doesn't have quite enough water to clean my diapers. There are some handy work arounds with the app and wi-fi and smart dispenser, so it still works better than most washers but it isn't the amazing cloth diaper fix that I had hoped. Overall great washer, not able to clean cloth diapers in a single load.

I got this machine today. First load done in less than half the time of my old unit. Still playing with the deep fill to get to my water depth level. The clothes spin cycle left the clothes damp..not wet like my old machine. No balance issues. As in other comments, the tub is super deep. At 5'7", I stand on m toes to reach that last sock in the bottom. Nothing negative to say. Will recommend to friends and family. It was on backorder when purchased, sight unseen, and well worth the wait. It may have glitches down the road, things usually do, but that is why I buy from Best Buy, they have the best, hassle free warranties.

    Waste of Water and Money

    - does not wash comforters or blankets well at all! Even one comforter of medium size throws the machine out of balance. The “auto balance” feature is pretty useless and just wastes water. I have to end up manually rearranging the items and spend hours monitoring to get a blanket washed! - Don't use for larger loads! the size is useless as loading anything larger than a single plastic laundry basket of clothes also throws the item off balance. - the auto dispenser feature is confusing and unreliable- showed me the “tank low” setting for the last 25+ washes. I don’t recommend using - I bought this less than a year ago and still miss my 20 yr old washer

Hello MarPro - Thank you for reaching out about your washer. The hassle you have experienced is surprising and disappointing but we would be happy to help. When the washer pauses to balance, we recommend letting it sit for several minutes to give it a chance to auto balance an continue without assistance. The water you hear during this process may just be the sloshing of the balance ring in the suspension system and not necessarily water being added to the load. When the "Tank Low" signal illuminates on the display panel, we recommend adding detergent to make sure there is enough for the next load. Please let us know if you have any more questions. - John@GEAppliances GE_Appliances

We have only used this washer a few times since it arrived about 3 weeks ago. So far the washer has worked well. I like the large load capacity. I do feel the owner manual is poorly written.

Huge. Works great. Only issue is i can never tell if the load went uneven or stopped for some reason. Sometimes i rewash because the clothes dont seem to have drained the water out properly.

I got this washer 2 months ago I use it everyday. It ALWAYS gets OUT OF BALANCE. Nice looking but that's all. I have to stand by it when it spin and rearrange the clothes EVERY LOAD. It wont stop and makes a horrible noise. NOT HAPPY …...

Hi there, thanks for leaving a review. Sorry to hear about your washer not working well. If your clothes aren't getting clean, we'd recommend taking a look at the loading tips found on page 16 of your Use and Care manual, here: https://files.bbystatic.com/kxcQ6f0wvgtOX2Gz2n%2FdJg%3D%3D/f070c0b8-21e6-436f-83e6-0582d21eb30e.pdf - You may also want to check to see if you have hard water in your home. This would cause you to have to use more detergent/fabric softener to get your clothing clean. An article titled WATER HARDNESS - HOW TO CHECK FOR HARD WATER can help with this. Hope this is helpful for you. If you have other questions or concerns, know that we're here to help as best we can. -Michael@GEA GE_Appliances

    Balancing Issues!!

We really wanted to like this washer. We had a GE profile that lasted 20 years and it was rock solid, we maybe had it go off balance once in 20 years. This thing is a nightmare. My wife threw in a couple blouses and pants, the washer went off balance and her clothes were saturated the next day before work as the washer shut down. Within the first 24 hours it went off balance 3 times, now 3 weeks or so later we continue the fight with this bad machine, it has gone off balance maybe 70% of the time it is a "Hit or Miss" if this thing can even make it through a load. My wife and I are in our 50's and have been using washers all of our lives and Never Ever had to "Babysit" our washer! We watched GE videos online about loading, talked to GE tech support etc. we tried to make this work.... We have stopped this thing several times to re distribute hoping it would finish..Sometimes it will just keep looping by adding more water, sensing, then balancing then adding more water it will continue this and shut down if I don't intervene and try and fix it and even that doesn't always work.... Earlier I said we really want to like this washer, great features and looks. The failure was the balance issues and online many others are having same problem..Total UN-happy customer. Last GE appliance for us. Oh and BTW I called GE less than 24 hours and told them I wanted this unit replaced or returned and I was told my only option was having a "Repair Tech" come out? Really Wow less than a day old and I have to have someone tear into it...Real nice.. I am on hold with GE while writing this another 2 hours wasted I'm sure, at least I hope not. I will keep ya posted on what GE does here.. UPDATE, GE refuses to replace this unit. American Home Shield who took our money for this machine while we paid for the upgrade also refuses to help us! I don't know why we are refused our right as a consumer to call get a replacement or money back within 24 hours are denied when we also offered to pay a return fee and/or restocking fee??. I escalated with American Home Shield and GE and basically we were told our only option was "Send a tech out"..Total fail here..Shameful customer service from both companies!

Bought 12/2019 having the balance issues covered in other reviews The gear switch mechanism, also mentioned in other reviews, just went bad. less than 2 years of use Except for the occasional blanket we are very easy on our washing machine. Mostly small loads Nice features. But if the machine is unreliable and has to be watched for unbalanced loads why buy it? We will be counting our losses and choosing to another brand

Love this washer. It uses very little water but cleans my clothes like I have never seen. Large amount of room, might I reccomend only doing like half the washer and not a full one. King sized comforter is easily washed

    Terrible Unit

I purchased this unit in December of 2019. I have a technician come out twice to fix a gear switch mechanism that turns the drum. The unit has malfunctioned for a third time and I am being told that the part is on back order and won’t be available until about a month from now. This unit needs to be replaced but am getting the run around from GE at the moment.
