    Item number matched but it was a knock off that wouldn't work in my refrigerator. Picture on left is right one.

      There was a minor change in the design of the XWFE. The design at the top of this filter now has slots where the previous XWFE did not. It does not change how it fits into the filter head (port), though it may take a little more force to put it in and the arrows may not line up completely. Based on your description, it sounds like you had purchased one of the previous designed filters, which should have worked. It also sounds like there was an issue with the filter. GE_Appliances
