I personally own this game and its definetly the best game I own for the 360. The campaign way better and longer compared to Gears of War 1. The multiplayer is really good if you have a good connection, but sometimes people online have a tendensy to play like a total nube. lol. Yet I still enjoy this game and I would recomend it to people who like to kill enemies when they are down!! BUY THIS!!!

Over all great game. Great new modes like horde, wingman, king of the hill ect. great new addition of support weapons (mortar/mulcher). Ability to take meat shields is a plus. One major drawback would be the increase of players takeing advantge of game glitches (turning invisible/shield glitch) as well as game tampering (lag switching is a big one) and host advantage is still an issue.

As far as campaign goes, Gears 2 is the best in the series. Very interesting boards like playing inside a giant worm. Graphics and audio are fantastic and the multiplayer is addictive.

As you may have already guessed, Gears of War 2 is an excellent Multiplayer game. But its not just the Multiplayer that sells this game out, also the capaign. With even more challenging objectives and missions, this game easily earns a 5 out of 5 for difficulty. The campaign still has co-op to help you get past those extra hard objectives.
The multiplayer is even more exciting than GoW 1. There is now a party mode so you can play with your friends. Also, now there is a ranking system. There are also new game types such as Wingman, which is basically team doubles. The new guns and characters in this game are well thought out and very clever. With a variety of new maps you will never get bored with the multiplayer.
Like any other game there are glitches. The glitches in Gears 2 are numerous but many people dont use them. The makers are starting to patch up some of the big ones. Not to get you discouraged in buying this game, like i said, barely anyone does any of the glitches.
Overall Gears 2 is a game anyone should buy cause you will never get bored with it. Highly Recommended.

Yeah, Gears of War 2 is a fun game, but it has it short comings too. The two things that bothered me the most were movement and difficulty. Every once in a while, the movement will act screwy and get you killed. It can cause you to pop up when you don't want to or take cover on the wrong piece of terrain. Overall this problem is more annoying than anything else.
The problem that really ticked me off was the inconsistent difficulty. When I first started I played through on the 2nd hardest setting (the hardest one available). For the most part, the game was a breeze. Despite being insanely easy, there were some parts that seemed impossible to get through and definitely didn’t fit in. After beating the game (most disappointing game boss ever), I decided to play through again on the newly unlocked hardest setting. The game went from being supper easy to supper hard. I'm all for a challenge (in fact that’s when I really enjoyed this game) but for a lot of gamers, the steep learning curve might be a bit much. The game can be played solo but you need a buddy for the game to truly shine. Without doing co-op the game jus isn’t as good, despite decent AI.
Despite these flaws, the game is solid. The graphics are way above average and the music isn't bad either. The story is so-so, but starts out with an epic feel. I haven't really tried multiplayer that much but playing horde is a lot of fun, especially with some friends.
Overall, Gears of War 2 is a game that should be played and easily has a spot in any gamer’s collection. Give it a try.

Worth the Hype!!!!

Gears of War 2 is one of those few games where the experience is worth the hype. This game does what every game sequal should do be greater then the first.
The Graphics are fabulous. The visuals during key moments are spectacular but I will not give those away. You will have to see them for yourself. One of the coolest new visuals is when you are shooting your Lancer the tip of the gun will start to glow red from getting hot.
The story is much improved from the first. You really get to understand the characters that you have grown to love. The war is so much larger in this game and you feel it. You are still with the same group of guys from the first. You seem to be the best squad out there. There are some great moments in the game that you will want to go back and play again.
Multiplayer has seen the biggest improvement. In Gears 1 it seemed that multiplayer was an after thought but it was still one of the best multiplayer out there. In Gears 2 they have upgraded in every aspect. It is now much easier to get into games with your friends. There are more game types and new maps to play on. As a bonus when you buy the game there is a code for a free classic maps download that has some of the maps from the first game but with revamped graphics. These are maps like Mansion, Canals, and Gridlock to name a few. Some multiplayer types are Warzone (just like the first game with 5 vs 5 deathmatches), Submission (Meat flag or capture the flag with the flag being a person the computer playes that fights back), Wingman (2vs2vs2vs2vs2 mode where you battle it out for the most kills as a team) and Horde mode.
Horde mode is the best multiplayer experience ever. You play with up to 5 player and you battle the Locust Horde in waves. The enemies get harder and harder as you go on. Every 10 waves the Horde gets stronger and has better weapons. I have gotten up to level 39 so far and it takes 3 boomshots to kill one guy.
For weapons all of the ones from the first are back plus a new burst pistol, flame-thrower, mortar, and mini-gun.
Gears 2 is a definate pickup for any Xbox 360 owner and shooter fan.

I loved the first Gears and knew Gears of War 2 was going to be great too. I got this game on the midnight release and it was the limited edition one too.
The story is done very well and the gameplay never gets old. All of the executions are a blast to do too. Also, the weapons are all fun to use and the cover system is pefect. The graphics are amazing you will love this game in HD gurranted. Plus, horde mode with friends is fun everytime and makes the game so much better. Even the story playing it on co-op or by yourself is a great time. One issue I have is the matchmaking for online I just don't see a point in it. I liked the lobby system from the first game better. Its annoying because if I want to play one gametype I have to hope others vote for the same one, which most of the time doesnt happen. Also, same with the map its always the one I dont want. Where as in the first game they let you pick where you wanted to play and the gametype you wanted too. They are coming out with a title update next week that will add a cool ranking system and maps. Epic has supplied tons of maps and good amount of DLC since it came out, which makes me happy. Overall its an awesome game and even fighting the bots in multiplayer is fun so trust me buy it.

Fun not necesarily better than GOW1

I have played the game since last night (yes, I was fortunate to have it a bit ahead or official release) so I cannot make a full comment about it.
Anyway, the game plays and feels just like the first one, this means that you get all the same fun. There are new weapons and enemies added and this adds a bit of freshness. Also, the AI for the enemies has improved in some areas, for example, they can now heal each other just as COG's can. I really like that. On the other hand, I know they are supposed to be smarter but they do not seem too much, just in some cases I could notice that they were not that dumb but it is hard to tell.
Overall, it feels more like playing an expansion to GOW 1 than a new game, usually expansion packs offer innovations and additions to game play besides extra play time. This is exactly what GOW 2 feels like.
It is still very fun to play and was exactly what I was looking for. Perhaps as the story evolves it may really feel as a new game rather than an expansion. This is why I gave it 4 stars overall but 5 to fun.
To the person who said you cannot invite a friend to play with you online, she must learn to read the manual and also check the menus. Perhaps she's doing something wrong becase as far as I know the support is there.

this game has been long waited since the first came out. the storyline destroys halo's story and the gameplay is much better you can almost never get bored playing a gears of war game. They've added about 5 or six new weapons to make online play even more strategical each with its own execution move and different styles of play. the new features like the human shield and the actual shield make big groups actually survivable unlike in the first also making the upgrading the lancer and its chainsaw it may be the new primary weapon of choice because its much more accurate and it carries more bullets at a time. Overall this game will have a great campaign and spectacular multiplayer its the only most have this year besides call of duty and fable 2.
In other words...... GET THIS GAME

Non stop action w/ a new Co-op that lets you play with 4 friends, and 10 people on Multiplayer (different plots). Sick new weapons, use the Flamethrower to toast some Locust, if fire isn't your thing try a Mortar Cannon thats a bone crusher. The Locust come out with some Huge sick looking crazy...oh your going to find that out yourself. Great story line.
The story fills in some holes from pt.1 and you learn more about the characters history. To quickly break it down the graphics, new moves and finishing kills, machines, weapons. new Cog members, the Golden Lancer. This game is KRAZE-SICK and everyone that worked on the game didn't let us down. Go and get it. I got the Limeted Edition and it's worth every penny. It will beat Halo3 sales and will be on the top seller list for a while. THIS GAME ROCKS!

Gears of war 2, This game is a must for massive collection. The campaign is challenging and somewhat intense. In short the higher the difficulty the more difficult. If you are playing with a Friend than it is a fun game depending on cooperative. The online multiplayer is fun but if players do not have a reliable than the fun is toned down when the massive amounts of lag come in. Horde with other players or with your friends can be fun too. overall the game its self is fun but can get a little tiring.

I have been playing this game for months. Sure I will play other games, but once these games have been beaten, I will always come back to gears. The campaign is great because it can be played in multiple difficulties and can also be played co-op (either over xbox live, split screen, or system link). Online play is amazing and does not get old. Online multiplayer offers a great variety of modes as well. Horde, Warzone, Annex, Wingman etc. Remains on the top of my list as best xbox360 game to play online. The only major downfall is that during ranked online matches, if the host quits a match, the game is forfeited and no XP points are rewarded.

This game is just lots of fun. I got it for a xmas present and didnt know what quite to expect. I have never played GOW 1 so I cant compare it to that so this is just my opinion of GOW 2. Graphics are cool, weapons are awsome once you learn how to use them all and I'm still learning that, and online play is lots of fun. I had read bad reviews of online about GOW 1 online play but 2 is really fun. Takes a couple of minutes to find teams sometimes, but unlike COD it matches you with people in your skill level. I would def. recommend this to my friends and will do so.

Gears of War 2 is similar to halo 3 in one way; it's one of those landmark games that people will remember forever. It has very few things to complain about (but the things you can complain about, everybody does). The main thing I hear complained about is the lag. People new to the game find that Gears 2 has massive lag, but they haven't seen nothing until they've seen the lag in Gears 1. But actually, I rarely have lag. People who have played Gears of War 1 usually complain that Epic screwed up the shotgun. (I have Gears 1, and) I think they fixed it, because I was constantly watching my head come off because of stupid people who roll everywhere with their shotgun out.
On the good side, the new Gears has many new things to offer. Some of the new stuff in Gears 2 include Horde, stopping power, a new downing system, and many changes to weapons (damage, accuracy, etc). I'm not going to explain all this stuff because it would take forever, so go to their website or youtube for more info.
It's actually hard to explain why Gears of War is such a good game. Like I said at the top, I love "the feeling you get when you literally blow your enemies to pieces." I wish they added a few more chainsaw animations (like a beheading kind of thing). If that's too intense, you can always turn off the blood. Oh yeah, I forgot about the enemies. I LOVE what Epic has added to the enemy arsenal. In Gears 1, all you fought (for the most part) was drones, wretches, and a few boomers and theron guards; Nothing special. But in Gears 2, there's masses of new enemies; butchers, grinders, grenadiers, reavers, tickers, "cyclops", and some other things I can't remember the name of. I could go on for a while, but reading the whole thing would get boring.
In short, Gears of War 2 is DEFINITELY a game you should get. One problem is that it's so bloody, many parents don't allow it (I see where they're coming from). If you can get your hands on this, by all means, buy it. When I rated this game, and noticed that everything has 5 stars, I was like, "That can't be right." But it is; this game is five star quality. It is BY FAR a better game than Call of duty world at war (but it's competitive with COD4). I haven't played Halo 3 since I got this game, and mainly because people's heads don't come off in Halo.

I loved the game. The storyline was great, the weapons are awesome, and its cool to kill a downed man in different ways. The chainsaw battles are fun, Horde is amazing (well for me).
The downsides, theres a little lag here and there on live, but it really doesnt effect me that much. Also, wth Epic?! why take out the berserker?? they were fun to fight in the first one and i was hoping to fight them again!

I bought this game the day it came out and started playing it immediately. Epic Games has created another masterpiece and totally did not dissapoint one bit. Revamped with new weapons and enemies, the game is a thrill-packed ride the whole time. I loved the first Gears of War and I love Gears of War 2 even more. The story is well-paced and actually throws you a few emotion-evoking curveballs that I thought were going to ruin the games plot, but they fit in perfectly. From Dom's rollercoaster ride of emotion tyring to find his wife to Marcus' stiff defending of his father, you can't help but feel a little tug in your heart. The AI are way better than the first game i.e. they actually come to help you when you're down and even manage to kill a few enemies every now and then. The campaign co-op is essentially the same. Horde is absolutely amazing. There is nothing more challenging or fun then trying to fight through 50 waves of increasingly difficult enemies with four friends on Insane Difficulty. I'm still upset about it not being named game of the year. Can't wait for Gears of War 3. Go buy it right now!

this is a true war game and makes you see and feel what a real battle is like, the story is amazing and they put u on vehicles, reavers, etc. when the first one was more of always staying on the ground. there is 4 different difficulties so you should have no problem finding the one that fits you best. Horde is very fun to stay up late at night and play with your friends where you fight wave after wave of locust. the multiplayer is awesome and has great maps that vary in weapons and i hope to see some map packs. The graphics, stunning graphics, i can not express how great they are and then with all the detail in this game. So i chainsawed a smelly locusts body in half and i could aim for a close up view at his body and see the ribs intestinse and heart, very realistic death and bodies explode into pieces with a nice shot with the boom. its very detailed with voice too for example when you get an active reload your character might say something like "yea baby!". Call of duty and halo arent even close to this game when it comes to graphics and detail, preety sad when i shoot a guy with the rpg in CoD and his body just falls over. If your looking for an alternative from cod or halo for multiplayer come to this game and it takes skill like halo but unlike cod where you just run out and shoot a guy with your P90 4 times then he dies then you die in 4 shots then you just respawn.
