It's much better than Call of Duty 5

I finally got the game maybe two weeks after it was officially released after convincing my idiot brother that Call of Duty 5 sucked and he made a mistake on impulsively buying it instead of GoW 2. It had been a long time since I played Gow 1, so my memory was a bit shady on how its graphics were, but I think that the graphics in GoW 2 are maybe slightly better pertaining to shadows and water effects. The same gameplay is still here with debuts of some new weapons in your arsenal. In GoW 2, even reloading a weapon can be somewhat fun. The Locust (the bad guys of the game) are now even smarter than they were in Gow now that they can chop you in half with a chainsaw bayonet. GoW wasn't made for the storyline, so don't expect any drama or moments that might make a more light hearted gamer shed some tears. After reading this, you shouldn't let your metaphorical "dumb older brother" keep you from getting this game because it's just that good. And also, if you are younger than eighteen years old, don't try to get the game at a store unless you can talk your dad into doing it for you.

    GET THIS GAME!!

It's the best $65.00 I've spent in sometime. I own all consoles (XB360,Ps3,Wii) So I have a great idea what games are duds and what games just define what the console stands for overall. THIS GAME defines the XB360 and makes it stand out above all the rest. I don't like having to pay to get online but hey, you get what u pay for, one heck of a great game. I'm very pleased to have this game. I do have a PC as well and it is a Q6600 Quad Core Intel, but I cheaped out on the graphics card, I have my old x700 ATI PCI-E 1.0 (Lame, I know) I'm planning on saving for a ati 3870x2 (DUAL CORE GPU) with 2 gigs of blazing 4.1 Shaded graphics. But anyways back to Gears, This game blew me away at how well this game pulls the story together so well. Most Next gen games are all Graphics no story (usually) But this is the gem of a game your looking for. Get it right now. Go click buy right now GET IT!!!!! Get all ur Buddies to buy this game and PLAY IT, its awesome!! 10 stars simply Game of the Year!! I recommend this to anyone that has ever played any console. or any game for that matter.

GW1 Expansion but worth owning; good replay value

This is basically an add-on to GW1 but don't let that stop you. GW1 was/is a great game. The weapons additions are not extensive but worth it; flame thrower has it's uses but I don't keep it in my inventory. The storyline holds better and it really gets into the characters; this one really has you feeling impending doom as the story goes. Some difficulties with getting character to post up on cover which doesn't happen on my system with GW1. The main reason I can not give GW2 5 stars is simple. Too much like arcade. I buy and play 1st person shooters becaue I want the combat, shooting, strategizing, and wooping up on the enemy. Both GW games have way, way too much arcade style play (such as jumping through craching teeth while in the belly of the worm. Really distracts from the game and the combat experience and there is way to much of it, more than in GW1. If I had rented the game first, I still would have purchased it at reg. price.

    Excellent follow-up

Gears of War 2 is a superb follow up to Gears of War. The original was a great game, and this sequel surpasses it in most every way. The detail of the graphics is excellent. It's not a stretch to say that Epic is pushing the limit of what developers can do with the 360 right now. Sound design has been improved from the original game, and is very pleasing. The story is well written, and fun to play through. The Gears of War universe has a neat story, and it's nice to see that Epic finally decided to start telling it, since the first game didn't score well in the story department. The new co-op multiplayer Horde mode is probably the best achievement the game has made. It's a ton of fun to fight wave after wave of increasingly difficult enemies. You quickly find out how good you and your friends are at the game when you start playing Horde mode. I would definitely recommend the game to anyone looking for a great action-shooter.

This game is truly the only game you need. I am so hooked on it I have to play it every night. Since the new ranking system went in effect I can't get enough experience points. This is the best multiplayer game to date in my opinion. I love Shadowrun and Halo but it just don't measure up to Gears. The gameplay, controls, maps, weapons, graphics and anything I forgot to mention totally rock. If you don't own this game please give it a try to see what next gen gaming is all about.

    Impressive Once Again!!

This is an outstanding game that is worth your hard earned money. The fun in Horde mode that you cam have with your friends is limitless. The intensity of the fight scenes and horde waves will have you on the edge of your seat. The graphics and environments are amazing and will cause jaw drops. Epic's only shortfall was the two idiots you must babysit at times. The Friendly AI fustrated my friend and me as we had to split up with Baird and Cole a few times, which caused us some unnecessary deaths. The only other fustrating issue is the sometimes glitchy cover system. I found myself without sanctuary a few times on insane as my character fumbled around rolling into cover than actually taking cover. Other than a few minor things this game delivered the goods. I can't wait until ACT 3. I will again be in line at midnight for the release.

Non stop action w/ a new Co-op that lets you play with 4 friends, and 10 people on Multiplayer (different plots). Sick new weapons, use the Flamethrower to toast some Locust, if fire isn't your thing try a Mortar Cannon thats a bone crusher. The Locust come out with some Huge sick looking crazy...oh your going to find that out yourself. Great story line. The story fills in some holes from pt.1 and you learn more about the characters history. To quickly break it down the graphics, new moves and finishing kills, machines, weapons. new Cog members, the Golden Lancer. This game is KRAZE-SICK and everyone that worked on the game didn't let us down. Go and get it. I got the Limeted Edition and it's worth every penny. It will beat Halo3 sales and will be on the top seller list for a while. THIS GAME ROCKS!

This game is most definately better than the first and that is no small feet. I have bought other shooter games that have just came out and none compare to gears except maybe resistance fall of man 2 and an older game call of deuty 4. The graphics are better than one, not by much but noticible. the cover system was really fixed so their is less chance of going from cover to cover when your actualy trying to get out of cover or simply run. the new weapons are incredible and the overall lenth of the game is acceptable and I say that because as a gears fan I did not realy want it to end. I also think that the last boss battle should have been a little more difficult but it was still very hot. And yes I am going for the 2.0 achievment,l 200,000 kills. This a great addition to the gears franchise.

Gears of war 2, This game is a must for massive collection. The campaign is challenging and somewhat intense. In short the higher the difficulty the more difficult. If you are playing with a Friend than it is a fun game depending on cooperative. The online multiplayer is fun but if players do not have a reliable than the fun is toned down when the massive amounts of lag come in. Horde with other players or with your friends can be fun too. overall the game its self is fun but can get a little tiring.

I Bought Gears of War 2 on friday the day that it came out. I have not let go of that game since it was simply the most impressive game i have ever played. The story takes place 6 months later following Marcus and Dom to find Dom's wife Maria while trying to stop the war between humans and locusts. Story = FANTASTIC! theres so many good plot points and the game will want u begging for more. Multiplayer - One aspect alone....horde mode. That is the most significantly fun thing in Gears of War 2 in my opinion. Once u get done beating the story like 12412412412 times then u can have fun and chill with friends playing horde mode its really great. All in all i think they should have made this game more than 60$ cause its so freaking epic! Best game ive played in years.

Let me start by saying that I was really pumped for this game. The campain, horde, and everything else was really fun to play. But then I went online. The lobby system is nice, but it is NEAR IMPOSSIBLE to find a game quickly unless your party is full. Also, they made the weapons much too powerful now. The shotgun downs in only 2 shots, and it doesn't really matter how far away you are. Also there is a rediculous amount of lag online. Some games are so laggy that I have unlimited lancer bullets and can't pick up other weapons on the map. I really liked this game until I went online and played with my friends. Overall, I would recommend buying this but don't expect anything spectacular. Honestly, the first one was much better.

I know this review in before the game comes out but i can Guarantee this will be one of the greatest games out there. Gears of War 1 was a great hit. Even beating Halo 3 and Halo 3 was a great hit as well but lacked alot of graphics. This just from all the trailers and game plays show that this game is going to be great. No not great exciting. Ive been waiting since June 08 for this game to come out. I believe this game will be the greatest game to come out compared to halo trilogy. You can go by ur opinion but i think this game is gonna be exciting and gonna enjoy playing it

Epic did it agian, this time ten-fold! Game play is smoother, graphics are tighter and game play is amazing. Haven't been a fan for long but I'm in awe at the work put in! Character development scores huge points, as well as the voice over work, it was on point. I might have a new all time favorite game, not since Red Faction and the first Halo have I been this passionate about a game. The ending wasn't as EPIC as anticipated but none the less, I was happy to see my troops come home! I can't wait for GOW3! FRAG THE LOCUST and CLAIM VICTORY!

So overall, this game isn't too bad. The story leaves much to be desired, but that's not what I play this game for. This is simply a balls to the wall gorefest. There is a good range of weapons in the game from pistols and machine guns to grenade launchers and flamethrowers. Your most used gun will likely be the Lancer, a semi-automatic rifle with a chainsaw in place of a bayonet. It's the most versatile gun in the game, with the chainsaw perfect for taking out enemies up close. The story didn't draw me in too much. There's some heartbreak and "twist" moments, but nothing that I didn't expect might happen. Some of the enemies you face are simply annoying (i.e. wretches), especially when the game throws about 20 at you and they're all easily killed. The final boss is incredibly easy, as long as you can hold your trigger finger down you've won half the battle (the other half being to wait a couple minutes). And don't get me wrong, some of the Locust are a pain to take down, but as long as you've got a wall to stay behind, you won't be in any immediate danger. The redeeming quality of this game is being able to play in Co-op mode and take on the hordes of enemies with a friend. Another would be... well... Horde mode!, where you fight against increasingly difficult and numerous waves of Locust. In the end I'd just say rent it, or play it with a friend who owns it (like me).

Gears of War 2 is an amazing sequal to the original Gears of War. The graphics, new weapons, and all new characters are amazing. The difficulty alone is what makes it so addicting and makes you want more. I strongly recommend co-op for the pure fun you and your friend can have. One of the many great things about this game is the story line. Its not too long or too short its just right. I strongly recommend this game and if you havent played the first Gears of War I would buy that too!

yes, no questions asked, the first gears of war was I believed to be the best graphical game ever produced on the xbox 360. Not only the graphics, but the game play was also top of the line. I wasn't sure at first to purchase the game, until I tried it out and loved it. The controls were hard to get used to at first, but once you get it down your golden. I would definitely recommend the first game, and purchasing the second I feel that it will be as good, or even better than the first!
