Excellent laptop. Best laptop I've owned.

This is by far the best laptop ive owned. It might be an older gen graphics card and CPU but it's got more power than you'll need for most current games. I've tried a couple of high graphical games like RE7 and Tombraider and both I was blown away. it may only display 1080p using the current screen but the games run so smooth with every graphical detail maxed out. I've never seen such performance from a laptop. Build quality to me is 10/10 everything feels solid. it might not be made of aluminum but in the price range i'd take performance over looks. I Love that it still has a number pad. only issue with the keyboard I have is the right shift key is small but I prefer to have a number pad so it's a trade off I'm happy with. I've had Gigabyte products before and they've never failed me that's why I felt confident purchasing this laptop. I plan on upgrading the ram and storage and this laptop gives you both options and provides the necessary screws for the upgrade. The only one drawback to this laptop is like others have said is the fan noise while playing games. I recommend using noise cancelling headphones and not playing games in quiet places because the fans are loud.

So no issues other then onchames random crashes, it does heat up and fams are loud whenever playing games. Good FPS on it 60. I mainly use this at home so no need for taking it anywhere. The battery life on this isnt great. Some games it last around 2-3 hours depending.for watching YouTube around like 3- 4 and usually i got bluetooth connected to my speaker. As for VR gaming it lags but least it works. Just would recommend putting it on low settings for vr. As for the price it was around 1k. Theres better options, but I got this on sale for 600 with taxes. And not bad for the sale price. The led on keyboard is limited to only few colors.

Loving this laptop got it for a steal and only upgraded storage and ram for a little more, great laptop! Nothing like a Chromebook so don’t expect a long battery life, obviously need to keep the power cable plugged in for gaming

It's almost Thanksgiving and I happened to find this laptop on BestBuy for $545, and being a college student (ME major btw) who desperately needed a laptop replacement for my Dell, I bought it without hesitation. G5's i5-11400H is a mid ranged CPU that runs well; pairing with the 3050 ti, this laptop does most of my jobs without any problems. SolidWorks runs without any issues, Genshin and other games can run in a reasonably good FPS as well. The keyboard feels amazing as I could get 99 words per minute without a question. Some slight inconveniences, however, are the fact that the back cover is a fingerprint magnet, the battery doesn't last more than 3 hours under constant use, and 8 gigs of RAM isn't really enough (but can be solved with 30 bucks on bestbuy). For those who want more power while plugged-in gaming, make sure you set your battery mode to Performance. Using MSI Afterburner and overclock the GPU works as well, as I got around a 6% performance boost. To balance reliability and performance, my settings are +202 core / +190 mem. Most of my PC components came from Gigabyte so undoubtedly I believe in the reliability of this laptop. It's simply great for the price range.

I bought this item as an open box and i upgraded the ram to 24GB and added another 1tb SSD drive for a total of $900. It does what it supposed to do. I mainly used the computer to run a CAD and a CAM software simultaneously without any problems.

For $550 I thought this was a good purchase. However I am not a gamer, at least at this point, but for others interested in that I ran a couple benchmarks and it rated strongly for that purpose. My purpose for investing my money in this machine is for my investor research, trading and other related business ventures, and I needed a machine that could drive four monitors, if I need that many. As my pictures show, I'm only driving two plus the resident monitor now, but the importance of expansion is there for me. I would normally buy a desktop but I couldn't find one even close to this price with similar hardware and functionality. I like the fact of having the power supply cord, the DVI port, and the HDMI port located on the back of the machine, because I've had other laptops where everything comes out the sides and it's a mess. I will also need to purchase a mini DV to HDMI, MST compatible adapter to run three or four total monitors but for now the three displays are all I need, and I'm tickled with it's performance. I don't think the cabinet maybe even the screen is super high quality but I don't plan on moving it around much, and besides any internal hardware from Nvidia and Intel etc is the same as it is in other big name companies charging a premium for their builds. Gigabyte LLC has been around since 1989 so they are no fly by night operation, but they're no HP either, so I would recommend this at least for similar applications to mine and maybe if I get some spare time I'll give it a go at gaming. I will make a negative note, even though it doesn't matter to me, but the cabinet top collects fingerprints like a magnet.

If you catch it when it’s on sale for under 600 AND this is your first gaming computer then absolutely buy it! But if you’re like me and you’ve owned a gaming desktop before or you’re expecting ps5/Series X performance, you’ll be let down. Amazing E sport laptop! Add $20 stick of 8gb DDR4 3200mhz RAM and you have a solid beginners laptop. If you’re an experienced gamer, pay the extra few hundred for a RTX 3060 or better, please. You’ll be more satisfied. 7/10

The GIGABYTE G5 MD is a great budget gaming laptop. It packs a strong Intel i5-11400H and RTX 3050 Ti for smooth gaming. The 15.6" FHD IPS display delivers vivid colors, and the 512GB SSD ensures fast load times. The 8GB RAM is a bit low but upgradeable. Solid performance for the price!

Great Laptop. I got this on sale but I love the amount of storage you can add to this. It has a solid CPU and a somewhat decent GPU in the 3050ti, I just wish Nvidia made the 3050ti mobile variant with 6gb VRAM but I can't complain with the price I got it for. I also love the detachable batter that is extremely easy to pop out and or replace if needed.

So far everything about this laptop has been fantastic. Even before I upgraded the ram to 32 gb it ran smooth without any issues. I definitely recommend bumping the ram up to at least 16gb, I only did 32 because I had the ram already. I also slapped a another 1tb in the open m.2 slot. For what I paid this laptop is priceless.

This laptop is absolutely excellent at covering all the fundamentals of a great gaming laptop that also is great for everyday and business tasks. It nails the sweet spot of balancing the CPU, GPU and storage needs that a gaming laptop needs to hit in order to excel at running games, without sacrificing too much in any department. It's Achillies heel, which is a small one, is "only" having 512GB of SSD storage, which is plenty if you don't mind only having a few games installed at a time and just swapping out what is installed as you change what your actively playing. But on top of having adequate storage, this laptop gives you plenty of expandability options to add on to storage. It has 2 M.2 slots, one of which is used by the included storage. It also has an open SATA 2.5 inch bay. In addition, it has 2 ram DIMM slots, 1 of which is used with the included 8GB, leaving you a completely free slot. I added a 256GB SATA SSD, a 1 TB M.2 SSD and an 8GB 3200MHz SODIMM stick of RAM to really beef this thing up into a powerhouse. It can now hold all my games and run multiple tasks while a game is running with ease.

Gigabyte is well known for its motherboards and graphics cards mainly. With a great reputation for solid price to performance oriented products, it makes sense for the company to get deeper into gaming with offerings of laptops and desktops eventually. With this particular unit you get a very solid entry level gaming laptop with a solid intel 11th gen i5 11400h which offers a perfect middle ground performance appropriately paired with nvidia’s 3050ti (4gb)! Both cpu&gpu are great at pushing any 1080p screen which this laptop has. With a high 144hz refresh rate and quick response time. The screen is nice and sharp with good viewing angles as well. Brightness isn’t as high as I like but at this price point it makes sense and is adequate at full brightness. I didn’t notice any ghosting while playing fast paced FPS such as warzone, fortnite or apex legends. Cooling is what you would expect. Good temps. But not great. that is completely normal. All gaming laptops will run warm or hot depending on higher specs. So don’t worry they are meant to handle high amounts of heat. Buy a laptop cooling pad. That will help. This includes a gen 4 512gb nvme with great read/write speeds and load times. Turns on quickly and operating system runs smoothly. Everything is just snappy and responsive. You can expand the laptop storage with a 2.5 inch ssd or another nvme(screws included). Only real downside is there is only 8gb ram@3200 And if you want to play more demanding titles you will need to add another 8gb ram stick running also at 3200mhz. Bestbuy has a few but I had to order from Amazon. Easy to add new ram or ssd! So now I have 16gb ram and you can run all games albeit at medium settings, since the 3050ti only has 4gb vram. Hence the entry level title! Charging port is in the back (which I love) along with an HDMI and a Mini DisplayPort (please note) you will need a mini display port to DisplayPort cable to run the full 144hz. Hdmi will only get you 120hz. That’s if you plan on connecting to an external monitor. Wifiax is fast and stable. This also comes with a usb c port. Added bonus imo. Standard USB ports and audio/mic ports as well. Simple but nice backlit keyboard. Built quality is actually quiet solid and beefy. Solid weight as well. You feel as if this isn’t cheaply manufactured. Overall I can definitely recommend this for folks on a tight budget or parents looking for good entry gaming for their children who mainly play light titles like fortnite, Roblox and the like. Price is fair for what you get. Especially if you are getting this for both gaming and school. College kids can benefit from this model as well.

The GIGABYTE G5 MD 15.6" FHD IPS Gaming Laptop - Intel i5-11400H - 8GB Memory - NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3050Ti - 512GB SSD is a solid performer for this category / price range. The 1080P 144Hz screen looks really sharp and bright. Windows 11 looks great on it and pretty much everything else! The 144Hz refresh rate makes gaming really look really smooth. The laptop case is a brushed metal and it looks really nice but it is a fingerprint oil magnet. Expect to be cleaning this one regularly if that bothers you! The backlit keyboard has a nice solid tactile feel to it. Feels mechanical without the clicking sound. For 8 GB of memory the laptop does a nice job running multiple applications and games. You can expand the memory to 64GB, but it seems to handle things quite well with just 8. I'll most likely throw another 8 in it to bring it to 16. Running everyday software like Office or browsing the web will be lightning quick on this PC! The Core i5 scored really well with an outstanding single core performance for 3D gaming. The 512 GB SSD performed extremely well in the benchmark tests I ran. User Benchmark rated it at 274%! Assuming you're a gamer just note that with today's game sizes your drive could fill up fairly quick, but it should be enough room to install several that you play regularly. The cooling system seemed to handle the heat pretty well. Fan noise is noticeable while gaming but not loud enough that you will find it annoying most likely. The system comes with a cool fan app that lets you visually monitor the CPU and GPU fan speeds and temperature. The built-in speaker audio quality is decent. Not extraordinary, but with the included software that turns on the advanced sound features and processing, it allows you to tweak the EQ to your liking. The stock settings are a little too bright for my taste, but the EQ allowed me to take out some of the mids and tweak the bass. The NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3050 Ti Laptop GPU 4GB GDDR6 did pretty well in my tests. It's definitely a mid-range GPU but will provide a decent gaming experience for any modern game. I loaded up Fortnite with the DirectX 12 driver setting so I could test out the Ray Tracing also. With the settings set to High I was seeing average frame rates around 75 fps. With the ray tracing enabled I was seeing fps in the 40-50 average range which is still very smooth and playable. I think for a mid-range laptop this won't disappoint! Battery life is not the greatest, but it is a gaming laptop, so that's normally the case. 2 hours gaming on battery will probably be average and about 4-5 doing normal activities with the screen brightness and power saving features enabled in Windows. It took about 4 hours to recharge from 10% to 100%. A fast charging ability would be nice. Plenty of USB ports on the laptop and a full sized SD card slot. 1G LAN, wireless, and Bluetooth. This gaming laptop has enough power and capabilities to satisfy the majority of gamers on a budget. It'll handle any day to day tasks with ease and run any modern game you throw at it with smooth frame rates. The display will not disappoint!

I have always been quite impressed by Gigabyte hardware. The attention to detail from this gamer-built company is highly evident in every product they produce. This Gigabyte G5 MD laptop is no exception. Found here is an excellent value in the gaming laptop space absent of the bloatware and other irritations of buying a gaming laptop from a larger company like HP or Dell. The build quality of the laptop as a whole feels excellent and is right on par with its price point. The metal deck of the laptop is comfortable to rest your wrists on while typing. The finish throughout does appear to attract oils, but those can be easily wiped away with a cloth. The edging of the laptop is a sort of faux-carbon fiber weave made of plastic that was unexpected and looks quite nice (a nice large microfiber cloth is included). There are no annoying RGB light strips or logos on the outside of the laptop; it is business on the outside and party on the inside. There is no flex in the keyboard deck and the screen does not wobble or shake at all while typing. This laptop weighs 4 pounds 6.7 ounces and the charger for this laptop is quite small and weighs just a smidge over one pound. This is an excellent, lightweight gaming laptop package that could easily be taken on the go. A full size, 15.6” 1080p resolution screen with accurate colors and fast 144hz refresh speed adorns this laptop as its forefront feature. I am loving this screen in its entirety. The chin bezel of the screen, while large, is part of the geometry of its laptop and actually places the screen at a height that does not require hunching your neck over to see depending on the laptop placement. The side and top bezels are not overly large and a webcam is placed in the center of the top bezel. I might notice the smallest amount of backlight bleed, but nothing so bad as to detract from the usage experience. Altogether, this is an excellent screen that compliments the capabilities of the laptop’s GPU and CPU. The full keyboard here including a number pad is an extremely welcome inclusion for me. I use excel a lot for my budgeting spreadsheets and a number pad makes much quicker work where calculator and number entry is concerned. Pleasant, all-keyboard single color backlighting is welcome here and minimizes distraction while working. The color, timer, and brightness settings can be accessed by holding the fn key while pressing a key directly to the right of the number lock button. The keystrokes are quiet and would be unoffensive in a quite library or lecture hall setting. The trackpad is so-so for me. I don’t know that I can ever appreciate a trackpad as much as force touch trackpads from apple, but the drivers used for this trackpad seem accurate and the analog left and right mouse click buttons are not unwelcome for those who like positive feedback when performing mouse clicks. The I&O of this laptop is like a refreshing drink of water in this desert of tiny laptops and tablets that offer such minimal I&O. The built in full size SD card slot is extremely welcome (the laptop comes with an SD card slot blank you can place in the slot to protect it from ingress of dust particles). My only slight criticism about the I&O is in the placement of the USB-C port. I would rather this be on the rear of the laptop with some of the other ports instead of the right hand side. The reasoning is that some people might want to run external displays off of the USB-C port or a USB-C dock, and having those cords protruding on the right hand side of the laptop where the mouse will be for most right hand gamers is annoying. Wifi 6 is delivered on this device via a Wi-Fi 6 AX201 160Mhz chip and it performs excellently, allowing smooth streaming and gaming anywhere in my house with my Wi-Fi 6 mesh network system. Bluetooth 5.2 is also present in this laptop, so you are getting the latest standards in wireless connectivity on this laptop. I am absolutely blown away by the speeds of the SSD present in the laptop. This is going to make anyone interested in productivity work very happy. This SSD is the ESR512GTLG-E6GBTNB4 model which is a mid-range PCIe Gen4 NVME SSD and the speeds are insane for a person like me coming from previous Gen 3 PCIe SSDs. I recorded a 4655MB/s read speed and a 2244MB/s write speed. Comparatively in a Dell G15 I reviewed, I got 2206 read and 503 write speeds. That is double the read and more than quadruple the write speed in a similar laptop in this price range. This entry-mid level gaming laptop has the SSD speeds of the flagship productivity laptops from a few years ago like the Dell XPS 15! The Intel i5 11400H of this laptop delivers a buttery multitasking experience on this laptop and seems to hold up its performance well. In HW monitor, I have noticed some cores getting pretty toasty up into the low and mid 90 degrees Celsius range, but no throttling or frame drops were noticed mid gaming. Geekbench 5 gave this a 1259 single core score and a 5236 multicore score. This is a reasonable CPU when paired with this GPU. The 8GB of single channel 3200mHZ RAM here meets the bare minimum in my opinion. I would have much preferred to have seen dual channel RAM with at least 16GB in a gaming laptop. There is one open SODIMM slot for adding another stick of DDR4 3200mHz laptop RAM later if you desire. Regardless, I am having no issues with productivity work on this laptop and my gaming performance has been great as detailed next. The Nvidia 3050ti is an excellent, entry level laptop discrete graphics processor. It outperforms the laptop 2060 cards of the previous generation and provides an excellent all-around 1080p gaming experience. I am playing games like Hunt Showdown on medium-high graphics and getting 60-90FPS stably. With better optimized games like Doom 2016, I got a silky smooth 90-130FPS experience on Ultra graphics settings with drops only to the mid 60’s during the most frenetic fights. The temperatures on the GPU at highest reached 93.8C in the hotspot and 84.3C overall while playing Doom. Truly not bad for a laptop. This is excellent for a AAA title that is still considered demanding. While there is a 3060 version of this Gigabyte laptop available, I think that this 3050ti model might be the sweet spot for performance-to-dollar value. Gamers who stick with less demanding games like Valorant or Apex Legends are going to be blown away by the performance on this machine. If you are into the most demanding AAA title games with desires for the highest graphics and framerates, you might consider the 3060GPU model of this laptop paired with the available 240hz screen. The cooling of this laptop is a place where I would say a tweak could be made Gigabyte. The Windforce cooling exhausts of the computer are on the sides and the back, but the side exhaust ports seems to be where the fans blow most of the hot air. For a gamer using a mouse, this can make it a very toasty usage experience. The air intake is from the bottom of the laptop, you can actually see the fan intakes from the bottom. Therefore, this is a gaming laptop that could benefit from a cooling pad and is definitely one that should be left on fabric surfaces like a bed or couch while in use for long periods of time as this could choke off the air intake. The battery capacity of this model is a 47160mWH model per HWmonitor. This is by no means a large battery. Accordingly, battery life on this laptop is not spectacular. Battery optimization settings are your friend on this laptop. Windows 11 makes it easy to go in and adjust your power settings. I admittedly love using Google Chrome and have been known to leave many tabs open at once which is quite taxing on the battery. I am always hesitant to say exactly how long I expect a battery on a laptop to last, but I was looking at getting about 3-1/2 to 4 hours of use on one charge with the screen at 50% brightness, the keyboard dimmed down almost to off, and power management settings set to best power efficiency. This is during a mix of multitasking through chrome tabs, watching Youtube videos, and doing some Word and Excel processing. Overall, this is my favorite sub-$1000 dollar laptop I have ever used. There is so much quality present here and most of all, the use of the actual laptop is seamless. With no anti-virus distractions or bloatware on this laptop, I feel like I am not having to fight at all when I use this as opposed to my experiences with my past laptops like the Dell G15. Altogether, if you are considering buying this laptop and are aware of the different GPU offerings in the model lineup and what your needs are, I would say just go ahead and buy this and get ready to be blown away! Thanks for reading and good luck with your purchase!
