Appears to function well and seems durable. Only wish they were water proof and not just water resistant.

I wish I stayed with Ring.
Google nest cameras are junk. Even with excellent WiFi coverage in your house, these cameras sure do lose connection a lot. So much so that if you have an emergency where you need footage of a crime, especially one in progress, don’t count on these to give you 100% liveview without interruption.
Don’t get me started on the nationwide complaint about the floodlight camera this last year having blurry video during night time- all because of a horrible update from Google- that issue took months on end to fix, and still isn’t near the clarity during day time use. You cannot opt out of updates as well.
The features are limited if youre used to RING cameras.
The dashboard needs a lot of work. Having to click 4 menus to change your area where you want the camera to catch movement is annoying- if you lose connection, you’re unable to change anything. Again, goes back to the horrible WiFi reception these have.
I use 100% Google WiFi products, specifically their mesh system, and these cameras constantly drop live video feed, both in the dashboard and while viewing a camera individually
Hi there, Austin. We’re sorry to hear about your concerns with your Nest Cam (battery) and this is not the experience we want you to have. Your feedback is appreciated and we have taken note of it.
We recommend checking for objects such as mirrors and refrigerators between the cameras and your router as these items could block the connection. If you have a good Wi-Fi connection but the camera is offline, this can happen if the device gets too hot or too cold, and can be avoided by these:
- Your camera should not be exposed to direct sunlight - Avoid placing your camera near objects that can cause overheating like light bulbs, lamps, large equipment/appliances, air vents, etc. Your camera needs good air circulation. Never install it in any kind of small box or enclosure as this can cause overheating. - If mounted outdoors, you can install it under an eave or overhang, or even install a small shade above it.
It's important to us that we provide you with the best help possible and identify the issues with connectivity. We recommend that you reach out to our support specialists at our Google Help Page: https://support.google.com/googlenest/gethelp

If you are an existing Nest ecosystem user, do not buy any new google nest cameras. For some reason, they aren't compatible with the Nest App. You will need to use the Google Home app. However, the Google Home app UI is horrible. What's even more odd is that the new video doorbell and YaleXNest smart deadbolt work with the Nest App. It sucks that you can't use the Nest App as it's way better than the Google App.
Hi SeattleGuy77, we really appreciate you for letting us know of your experience with using the Nest Cam (Battery) and the Google Home app but are sorry that it was a disappointment for you.
We’re aware that longtime Nest users enjoy viewing their Nest camera feeds from the Nest app, however, our priority with this launch was building a complete experience for our new cameras and doorbell in the Google Home app. Our teams are working on enabling the ability to set up and control older Nest cameras in the Home app so users will have one app to control all of their devices, and we’re working on bringing full functionality to the Google Home app as we want to create an integrated experience with other Nest and smart home devices.
We're always here to help you improve your experience. If you have any issue with your Nest Cam (Battery) and using it effectively in the Google Home app, please feel free to find us here: https://support.google.com/googlenest/gethelp

I bought 7 of these Google cameras to install around the house and inside the garage. Very quick to alert me to whatever the objects I had setup for, no false alarms at all.

the camera itself is just ok. the app is garbage. i have nest hello and nest indoor, and the nest app is superior to that google app. i can still use the nest app for my other to devices. i had both apps open on two different tablets, and for some reason the google app would constantly say connecting, or something went wrong, while the nest app continued working properly. and yes the app itself is enough for me to return (or atleast thinking about it since i have 1 month to try out). REALLY REALLY wished i hadn't took procrastinated on the outdoor nest iq that it passed by and now im kinda stuck with this device.
Hi there, thanks for sharing your feedback to let us know of your issue with the Google Home app for your Nest Cam (Battery). We’re sorry to learn that it’s an inconvenience for you.
Home App issues can be related to several reasons. We can try the steps below that may help: - Make sure you’re using the most current version of the Google Home app on your phone or tablet. - Make sure that your phone or tablet is up to date, with the correct Date & Time settings. - Close other apps running in the background. - Sign out of the Home app and sign back in. - Restart your phone or tablet. - Uninstall the Nest app and reinstall it. - Try an alternate compatible phone or tablet if available.

We have continued to expand our home system and this has been a great addition. We really like the smart products and have pivoted to almost exclusively the Nest brand with a lot of success.

I am beyond disappointed. 2 nest outdoor, one cam indoor, two iq cams, two nest hub max, one nest hub. Obviously, I like nest. This camera is HORRIBLE. One charging cable in the box, you CANNOT use the nest app. How is my wife supposed to check on our animals? She cannot access the cameras. The worst part is the camera quality, what a joke! The quality is worse than 1980 POE cameras. Paris Hilton had better quality in the dark. Google will lose my business if this is where they are heading. They are making mistake after mistake with Nest. So stupid.
Hi Crazybear88, thanks for sharing your feedback on the Nest Cam (Battery). We're sorry to hear that the experience has not been ideal for you.
You can adjust the video quality in the settings to balance high resolution video with longer battery life and lower bandwidth use. For optimal video quality at 1080p, an internet connection upload speed with at least 2 Mbps per camera is recommended (DSL may not qualify). Please check the steps below: - Open the Home app Google Home app. - Select your camera. - Tap Settings Video. - Under “Video quality,” tap High.
New Nest cameras and doorbells are exclusive to the Home app because we wanted to create an integrated experience. Users with older cameras can view their camera feeds in the Google Home app alongside the new Nest Doorbell and Nest Cams. Our team is working on bringing full functionality to the Google Home app so all of your cameras can be set up and controlled in one place.
Also, it only takes around 4-5 hours to fully charge the Nest Cam (battery). If you need more than one charging cable, or if you want the camera to be wired with continuous power, you can go with the optional Nest Cam (battery) Weatherproof Cable (in 5m or 10m) to keep your Nest Cam connected.

Very disappointed with the performance of this camera!!! Set up event zones multiple times per instructions and they would never work correctly. Camera would detect car or person going away from camera but never coming towards camera. Camera now has went offline and will not reconnect with wi fi and seems unresponsive even with full charge. Camera is only a month old

I am so happy to get this installed on my back porch. I am now able to see activities in my backyard and with the ring doorbell, I can see activities in the front of my house.

Great addition to the line. Much better concept than the previous wired version. Battery lasts for months with smart detection. 4 stars on the value unless you can catch a sale.

At first I was skeptical, but it seems to have learned and picked up events as expected. I wasn’t sure about moving to the Google Home app but it’s been great so far. Battery life is fantastic
