I set each one up in 15 minutes, and I have spent hours trying to get it them to work. They lose battery charge in about 3 hours; they turn the AC on and off every few minutes without cooling the house. The message says it'll take 2+ hours to cool the house. I've read everything on the issues, and the solutions are not simple, and according to reviews you can sit on hold with their customer service forever. I checked prior to purchasing that they would work with my AC. Not so. I am beyond livid, as now I have to call an electrician, and it is 104' tomorrow.

From what you're describing it sounds like you may need to have common wires installed to prevent the behavior you're seeing. In most cases, Nest thermostats can charge their built-in battery using your system’s heating and cooling wires. But in a small number of situations you may need to connect a common or C wire to deliver enough consistent power to your thermostat.

I believe the self learning definitely has room to improve. For instance, if you start turning down the AC at night for a few nights but suddenly stop doing it, it will continue that learned behavior even after many nights of readjusting it over and over again.
