It covers the back of the nano but lets the color of the nano show through. It does not cover the front of the nano but does a great job of protecting the back.

I would highly recommend getting a screen protector with this! The polka dots on this case look phenomenal with the purple iPod Nano I have. I recommend this to any girl who likes polka dots!

However, I was thrilled with the product as it fit very snug and does not slip at all. I liked that you could still see the color of the nano with the polka dots.
