H&R Block tax software has been our go-to for the past decade. It is easy to use, although sometimes it doesn't do a very good job explaining the details about a particular facet of the tax code. Often it just redirects you to the government website, or another article that isn't very informative. If you don't have a lot of complications like rental properties or complex business finances, the Deluxe edition is perfectly adequate.

We've been using this software for several years now. Works great! Makes doing both state and federal taxes easy. Imports all the data I need, and informs me when the IRS has accepted my online submission. This one includes fee free federal filing. I typically print and mail my state forms after completion to save a few bucks. Free audit support if I need it, and it reviews my work to reduce or eliminate any mistakes. Overall, a great product!

This is my third time downloading the H&R Block software to complete both my Federal and state returns. The update process at the start was quick and easy. I also like being able to to choose option to import last year's data as a sure time saving feature. No complaints.

I have used this product for more than a decade. I like the ease and efficiency of using this software to do my taxes. It is easy to install and a good value for the money.

I used turbotax for years and then switched to HR Block the last 2 or 3 years. It's very easy to use whether you have a disc or digital download. Price is much better than turbotax as well.

I usually use Turbo Tax but decided to try this out when i saw it on sale at best buy for about 50% off. The app installed fine, downloaded updates and imported my 2018 Turbo Tax files without any issues. I couldn't download my W-2 into the return like i could with Turbo Tax, but a scanned copy of the w-2 form was imported without issues. Overall federal return preparation is simple and straightforward. I don't like that there is not an easy way to toggle between the input screen and the actual IRS form; I like to see the return in "paper format" before i file. But overall the process was was fairly efficient. The problem occurred when i started my state return. I had 3 1098's reported on my federal return; 2 of those somehow got doubled up on my state return. Also, because of income thresholds on my federal return, i did not qualify for college education credits. This in itself was fine, but in effort to be efficient, the application does not require or allow you to enter your higher education expenses. This becomes an issue because my state return actually allows for education expense deduction, but because I could not enter the data in my federal module, it was not in my state return. This is a $10,000 deduction, which translates into several hundred dollars in lower taxes. I tried to over-ride the entry, but that creates a validation error that prevents e-filing the return. There is nothing that flagged either of these errors except my line by line checking of the return; i waited for a scheduled update but that did not fix this issue. Not sure if many people would do that or know what to look for. So now i have to download paper forms, fill them out manually and mail them. Won't use again

I made the switch from TurboTax to H&R Block a number of years ago and haven't been disappointed. Easy to use, reasonably priced and has all the features I need to file my taxes quickly and accurately.

Easy to use and plenty of auto import functionality. Though lacks auto import for some integrated brokers logins.

Saves time and makes preparation easy. Will auto-fill forms year after year and does all calculations

I've been using this software for over a decade and it works just fine as always. I wish you got free state submissions with the product but with four different family members submitting tax returns, the 5 free federal e-files comes in handy.

I have been using HR block do it yourself tax software for over 10 years. One year I had an accountant do it to compare and we came up with the same numbers, so I save the money and keep doing it myself (I also learned a lot going through the wizard on things to save through the year, etc). I never had a problem e-filing through the program or any program crashes.

I use this software every year and it has never let me down. Great price!

An easy program that anyone with basic computer skills can use to get their taxes done without paying a small fortune to an accountant or tax specialist. And if you just put in the data from your W-2's and other income documents, they will guarantee the results and even provide professional support in case you are audited.

My review might be a tad bias as I used H&R software before. Since I used the software last year, it was able to grab all my info from last year's filing. It made filling for 2020 super easy. All I needed to do was edit the earnings amounts. Everything else was already entered in. That saved a huge amount of time.

Great job of handling taxes and reasons why some items are important and some not. I also looks back at last years files, if you used it before, to pre-fill information. I like that you can file for free the US forms, but I don't like that you have to pay to file the state forms.

This software is easy to follow most of the time. Although there are certain sections where their explanation is either lacking or not there at all. This could lead to missing out on deductions or making a claim that you shouldn't

The product works fine & does well gathering information from past returns (including from turbo tax). However I did not receive an activation code as was supposed to come with my purchase. I had had to contact H & R Block to get the software activated. That was aggravating.

There was a tiny almost inconsequential error in how it handled one of the 1099 files imported in. Online help was not able to help me, but research got me to what I believe was the right answer. Otherwise it is great for getting your taxes filled out quickly and accurately.
