Customers are saying

Customers are delighted by the enjoyable gameplay of Hatsune Miku: Project DIVA X, praising the updated graphics and high frame rate on the PS4 version. However, some feel the game is hampered by a limited song selection. A few players also noted that the difficulty level has been adjusted, making some aspects easier than in previous iterations.

Daughter played this at a friends before Christmas and liked it so much less than she had hoped that it came off the Christmas list. Problem free return, since we hadn't opened it yet.

Great new installment to the Project Diva series

The Project Diva series is a wonderful collection of games. The first game was released in Japan for the PSP in 2009, however the series did not leave Japan until 2013 with Project Diva F for the PS3 and PS Vita. Since then, two more games have been released internationally: Project Diva F 2nd, and Project Diva X. Project Diva X features 30 songs, almost all of which are new to the series, with excellent chart design and song choice. For those completely new to Project Diva, the game is a rhythm game, similar to Guitar Hero or Rock Band, however there is one key difference. In other rhythm games, it is common to see notes moving vertically towards a target, in the same direction. However, in Project Diva, targets can appear anywhere on the screen, and notes can come from any direction. However, even with this added challenge, the game is still very friendly to newcomers, with the Easy difficulty using only one button on the controller, while the hardest difficulty, Extreme, uses all four of the controller's face buttons. For returning fans of the series, Project Diva X may seem slightly underwhelming; it has a smaller songlist than other games, and the background videos for each song, formerly using multiple backgrounds, settings, and other complex elements, have now been reduced to simply one or multiple singing characters on a stage. In addition, rather than past games' dynamic of simply playing songs in a row in order to unlock them, Diva X features a brand new story mode, which has players playing songs in 5- to 6-song "Clouds" in order to unlock them. The brand-new story mode is charming, and while it can sometimes get a bit lengthy for a rhythm game, the characters are likable, and some of the cheesy dialogue sometimes made me chuckle. Overall, Project Diva X is a fine addition to the series. Although the omission of Edit Mode and the simplified background videos do detract from the overall experience, the songlist and chart design is at an all time high for the series. I personally bought the Japanese version on its March release date, and pre-ordered the American version as soon as I could. The game has proven to be extremely fun for both newcomers and veterans such as myself.

A new take on Hatsune Miku Project Diva games

This game has more story elements where you help Miku bring light back to the world, unlike past games where you just play songs to unlock modules. After unlocking the songs, you can play them just like the old games in the series as well. Also, gift giving and friendship levels are a little more difficult this time around. You have to unlock gifts with song play instead of just being able to purchase them with Diva points. I definitely recommend this game to any fan of Hatsune Miku and the Project Diva series!
