So im writing this review hoping it will help other people out in if they want to get this laptop. Now on google if you have multiple taps open you might have to wait a few seconds for tabs to loud up. This is definty is not for games. Roleblocks its okay. Now for a school computer its not bad. Now i learn to see that MS teams doesnt work good on it and will even frezze up the laptop. Its better in the browser. The cameria is bad bad and pixiel. The mouse feels werid but i got used to it. Now for this price its worth it but to me if i had a Job would i want this to be my work computer.... of course not i would want a 1500 laptop but guess what it gets the job done. Oh and the colors are not bright pretty blane

Purchased this laptop open box for less than $200. Great deal especially given similar models are around $300 now. Runs faster than Atom or "A" series PC's at same price range. Has empty Memory slot so $20 4gb chip doubled memory. However, please be aware that system reserve took half of it so only 6gb now available and no easy fix. If looking to upgrade by 8gb or higher. Zoom, Teams, and Google Meet work well. M.2 hard drive is very fast and looks upgradable. Wish I would have purchased another at that time.
Note. Don't connect to wi-fi during setup if you want to avoid creating a Microsoft account. Connect to wi-fi after you get to the windows desktop. Windows S mode requires Microsoft account to be removed, but can only be used for that purpose and not system wide if preferred.

I bought this laptop for much less than $300 because I needed one quick for a work-from-home gig I was starting. So naturally for that price, my expectations were equally tempered. The 4 stars may be a bit generous, but it's holding up well nearly a year from purchase, after a memory upgrade.
I did have a lot of problems with it freezing on me about 9 months after purchase, and I was able to diagnose it myself (no thanks to HP Support) as a lack of memory. The 4 GB memory would fill up because I had many heavy applications running, including Zoom, many open browser tabs, Web applications, MS Teams, developer apps, etc. Over the months, I had turned into an IT super-user, and this laptop was not designed for that.
I discovered through research that this laptop has 2 memory slots, 1 containing a 4 GB card and the other is empty. Since, the laptop can support up to 16 GB of memory, I decided to purchase a Crucial 8GB Single DDR4 2400 memory card for $50, which brought the total memory to 12 GB. This is the minimum that a gaming or heavy usage machine should have.
It began performing much better after the memory upgrade and the freezing virtually stopped. I still have the occasional freeze due to Windows 10 System Interrupts service getting overloaded (task switching and management), but it's down to every couple of weeks or so, which I can deal with.
Beyond that, this laptop is better than advertised for the price and I have no complaints.

I purchased three of these laptops for my children to have while they are visiting their dad and Aunt this summer. I need something they could watch their shows and keep in touch with me and friends and keep meetings and school work up. They can also play some browser type games with it.
It has been absolutely great for what I got it for. They love them and so do I. The price was very reasonable for what this laptop has.

Love the smaller size of this laptop and its lightweight! Screen jumps sometimes or turns totally black for a few seconds then will bring you back to your webpage. Other than these small issues, its a decent purchase. NOTE: I do not use the webcam or download and watch movies so I cannot comment on this items capabilities...

I am only giving four stars because I've only used this item for one day.
After purchasing an HP stream and learning from Best buy there literally wasn't a single one available in the country to give me and I would have to wait for it to be back ordered, I started a new search and found this little one. I definitely came out better for it since this has the 128 GBs compared to the 's 32GB ir 64GB.
I needed a computer to hold me over until my work laptop could get to me, which may still be a few weeks. So far, I am absolutely loving this computer. I've primarily used the internet and office products as well as say in in a lot of Skype meetings.
Pros:
-starts up fast
-runs fast/has good response time between clicking and an action
-Lightweight
-Stays cool! My laptop sits in my lap for hours on end so I'm very grateful for a cool laptop!
-Good battery life
Cons:
-it was a bit of a Benny Hill sketch trying to get my Microsoft 365 to work since it was convinced I have purchased it and only wanted to give me the free trial version. Possibly just a rookie mistake, but if you purchase an office suite I'd recommend uninstalling the one that comes with the computer before installing your new suite.
-it's locked up once it twice with Outlook, but resolved within 30 seconds. Will wait to see how well it can really handle multiple Office products open and functioning at once

Overall I'm extremely pleased with this computer as is. Lots of folks talk about upgrading it to make it great. Well, depending on what you want it for it's plenty good the way it is. I use it for online schooling, have zoom running with multiple chrome tabs open (opt out of Windows S to get chrome, well worth it!) and also Miro (online collaboration software) and don't have any issues with slowing down. Once in a while it seems to go a little slow, when I have a lot of stuff going on. Normally, nothing. Sure it may not be great for gaming, but that's not what I'm using it for. Great computer as is for schooling or anything along those lines. Only thing not so great is the webcam isn't the best quality. Oh well, so folks don't see me in amazing great detail. Not too big of a deal to me. Definitely worth the money.

4.5 star is exactly wright rating.
(p.s.: I don't play games, but youtube works good, downloaded everything I need still have 80GB free space, can open 20 pages same time. sound loud enough. not overheating at all.! charging fast, battery holds about 3-8 hours depends)

My daughter was looking for a basic laptop for going online and streaming Netflix. When I saw the high prices of other laptops I was stunned. But then I discovered this HP laptop. She loves it! It's lightweight, the perfect size, and way faster than her old laptop. I wouldn't recommend this laptop for anyone doing any serious gaming, or anything that requires a lot of memory, but for everyday tasks it's perfect!

Great day to day laptop. Will play Netflix, Amazon Prime, League of Legends, and other programs and lightweight games with no issues. I upgraded to 8gb of ram and it gave me an extra 10 - 15 FPS playing Guild Wars 2 at Medium settings, average 45 FPS. PErfectly playable if I wanted to game at the bar using their free wifi and enjoying an alcoholic beverage. AS long as the Price is under $250 its a great deal!

Not sure the price, but it was on sale when I got it. For younger kids, WIN10 Home S should work well to keep their PC clean. For tweens and older may be a bit restrictive and will probably need to opt out of S Mode. At this point with technology, I don't see why the camera is as not 1080p or better. Even if it is a value PC.

I’ve used it for the last month as a replacement for a much more expensive unit. I upgraded the Ram to 16g which is overkill, but that is a minor investment. The only knocks are the camera and display. Both are not as sharp as I would have liked but I can’t complain for a $237 computer!!!! Great for basic activities like zoom, web surfing, Microsoft suite, etc....

The computer is fast except for start up, and the camera is real grainy, but you get what you pay for. But if you want to face time someone, use your phone. Other than that, I'm very satisfied with this laptop and its performance, but it your not using it for basic things, buy something more expensive.

So this is the least that I've ever spent on a laptop that is not a Chromebook. My last laptop was a gaming laptop that I upgraded with a new 120Hz screen, doubled the RAM, and added a 2nd drive. At the end of that, I just didn't game much. So I wanted to ditch the weight and size and get something like my old Macbook Pro Retina. There is no way that I'm going to spend $1k for another laptop so I began to look. At some point, how low or how little could I spend. I got this on sale for "almost nothing". And it's awesome. The processor plenty fast and I used an extra 8GB RAM that I had to increase it to 12GB. The low resolution screen is not a big deal in my book and I'm using an external 34" monitor with it. One note, the actual speed of the RAM is 2666 and not 2400. There is a free 2.5" slot for an upgrade. So far I've used it to stream 1080p HD videos and attend online webinars and no hesitation/no performance issues at all. There is not much bloatware installed either, easily removed (less than 6). Very seamless to switch out of Windows S which is a requirement if you use Google Chrome which of course everyone does. My next upgrade will be to swap for a 500GB M.2 NVMEe SSD. I also like the basic black look, it's the anti-Macbook.

I got this for family. Before I followed the advice from here, I wanted to test to see it this computer is fine. I transitioned the operating system from Windows S mode to Windows 10 for download flexibility. About a week later, My family started experiencing freezes from this computer. I decided to factor it that it might be the ram, and so I bought 8gb of ram to hopefully see that fixes the problem. A couple days later, the random freezes still occurred. So, I tried my best to see what's wrong. I decided that maybe the solution would be to delete the temp files from here. Unfortunately, The random freezes still occurred from time to time. Honestly, I kind of regret not being able to return it in time because I was sort of busy. So for now, I made a file that would automatically delete the temp files when the computer boots up. Hopefully that fixes the freezing? Could the reason be that the CPU is just not that good, or Was I the unlucky one with a defective? I just wish there is something that can tell me what's happening with this computer because otherwise, This laptop would have been really solid.

Yes, this machine is a little barebones with lower resolution, memory, and storage than higher end machines, but for the simple things I need to do, I find it more than adequate, and actually pretty snappy. It’s a very good price for what it does. I needed a portable PC to run some of my ham radio programming software so I can zap my radios with updates in the car, without de-installing them from the car to program at my desktop. There’s some extra software on the machine that I didn’t need, removed those and even freed up a few more gigs on the ssd drive. I added some free virus, malware, and firewall protection SW, in addition to my ham programming SW, and still have 80 GB free. For my use-case the SSD speed performance enhancement is so worth it, esp. for the impatient types such as myself. It reboots incredibly fast. This isn’t the direction to go for games, media processing or storage, but simple operations.. email, word processing, web browsing, or my special niche case, it’s ample. Impressed with this entry level performer. Time will tell how well it holds up but initial impressions are very positive.

My first laptop, I like it. The keyboard : Letters and numbers are just right for me to see. Easy for me to surf the internet, listen to music, write a letter on Microsoft, and do a online class. Maybe you can do a lot more, I didn't need $800 or more laptop. This one just right. Good price also

When I ordered this computer I went with the advice of others and ordered 8 gigs of crucial memory because no laptop this day and time should come with 4 gigs. Before I even turned the laptop on, I installed the memory(its at 12 gigs now). I booted up without issue. I immediately went to windows 10 instead of 8 and did a fresh install. The computer has been performing great. It cant be beat for the price.
The only negatives I can say is the 4g of ram and its smaller than I was expecting but that was my fault. Great computer at a great price.
