Excelent for beginers, great Memory and Hard Drive

I have always valued HP products, and this one is no disappointment. The screen is large and easy to read. The graphics are spectacular. I like the keyboard layout, and the speed of the computer is very good.

A few days after we bought this laptop, we noted some bad reviews (rating was 2.9 at the time) which would have kept us from making the purchase (we couldn't find any reviews anyway at first), so we've been "waiting for the other shoe to drop", but after 6 weeks nearly daily use, we've had no problems and are pleased with our purchase thus far. This HP15 has what we were looking for: Windows 8.1, at least 3 USB ports, DVD/CD drive, screen no bigger than 15.6", and processing speed & RAM comparable to the Samsung RV510 we were replacing. We use this laptop for work (pulling info from a database from program saved to hard drive and from online program), streaming videos, and doing research on the Web, running a multitude of windows and programs simultaneously. It's has a strong lag time booting up and switching from one user to another and does some weird thing when we put pause a video so long enough that the screen saver comes on--the video starts playing again in the background. But no other problems with speed, processing or Internet connectivity. We found Windows 8.1 easy to learn and use. (I didn't care for Windows 8 the short time I had it on a loaner laptop.) Only took me a day to get used to it. (We had Windows 7 previously.) I like the fact you can download apps & use the "app" side or the "desktop" side; we tend to stay on the "desktop" side. The non-touch screen is not an inconvenience to us at all. Few more points: This HP15 seems lighter than our 15.6" Samsung RV510, battery life is about 2-2.5 hours (not good in my opinion, but we tend to keep it plugged into electrical outlet anyway), touch pad doesn't respond if I have my palm or heel of hand leaning along left side of keyboard below the keys (so lift up those hands). All in all, very good purchase for a very nice price (under $300 including tax).

Was impressed with this laptop for just under $300. For doing some multi taskin. With programs/internet etc. Good for basic needs email, browsing web, streaming video and playing audio/video. Speed pretty good with 4gb I did ugrade to 8gb which makes big difference. Only issue I had was it only had 677 gb hard drive memory instead of 750gb. Customer service at best buy did credit me back difference with other model with 500gb. Still plenty of memory though.

I bought this lap top for streaming movies off the internet it was a little agervating at first with it being windows 8.1 . Once you get used to windows8.1 it is a really easy to use.this laptop has plenty of space for school work and office use ect . runes real fast on games and videos. Im happy to have bought this one instead of the other three or four we looked at.

I HAVE HP DESKTOP, LAPTOP , PRINTERS, AND NEVER HAD A PROBLEM WITH ANY OF THEM BOUGHT THIS FOR A KID. WIN 8.1 IS A LITTLE WIERD COMING FROM VISTA OR XP BUT YOU CATCH ON PRETTY QUICK. FOR THE PRICE CANT BEAT IT...

It's a lot faster and easier to use than I expected. Was easy to set up and register.

My daughter is getting ready to head off to college and needs a laptop for her schoolwork. This is not a top of the line computer, but that's not why we bought it either. It is exactly what I expected and is perfect for my daughter to use for schooling. It is very lightweight and thin. It has a good, fast processor and substantial memory. The image on the screen is clean, and the computer works beautifully. The price was right up our alley and what we were looking to spend. As a bonus, it has a DVD drive (which we had a hard time finding in laptops in this price range). We haven't had any problems yet and, like I said, this is perfect for what we needed, for the price we paid.

Really easy to use. Bought it for my husband as an at home basic computer. Very thin and lightweight. Nice big keyboard and screen with number pad.

Good for the money works well light weight and fast

This computer has been an excellent purchase, We got it at a very good price and overall we are happy with it. My 12 year old son mainly uses for school purposes and to play games like Minecraft with no lags in the performance, graphics also look good.

If I could do it over, I think I would get a touch screen model. Also I was disappointed when I went back to Best Buy in January to buy a security system for the computer to find out I should have got one for free when I purchased the new computer. I purchased one anyway from a very helpful employee.

Windows Eight takes a lot of getting used to, but once you start to figure it out it's not bad. As a whole this is a good quality computer sold at a reasonable price.

Takes time to get use to. instructions talk about how to use touch screen features and even seems to have some. but you can't apply them. useless . serves purpose though for my need and price .

It's taking me time to get used to a new laptop because I don't use it everyday, but I have found that with a little guidance from my son I can manage it pretty good. It isn't that hard to operate and I'm getting better every time I use it.al

I use this laptop sparingly, mainly for internet and movies. While I don't LOVE the Windows on it, it is a good machine. The touchscreen has been useless to me so perhaps a bit redundant, and the keyboard keys are a little small and take some getting used to in terms of placement, a full keyboard was perhaps not necessary. Good screen size and resolution, fairly decent processing power, no troubles so far. At the price, can't be beat and no regrets.

While this laptop is not the most high end it is reasonably priced and has more than enough capability for our young daughter. So far no issues/bugs/glitches either.

Smooth keyboard, great graphics, new windows with apps takes getting used to. Great buy for the money
