Now this new one has a digital drive, a plus. But this one came with keyboard symbols that were light grey, almost unreadable to us older folks. So that will be the end of our ordering online sight unseen.

After a completely worthless chat with Best Buy rep who said I could return it if I wasn’t happy with it and checking with HP who said this model does it have a backlit keyboard I am so frustrated. So I can go to all the trouble to delete my personal info and go to the store where there is a line out the door to get in to return it. This model does NOT have a back lit keyboard. I can confirm they sent me the right computer. Big fail on Best Buy to not have an accurate product description.

Takes some getting used to! I like the fact that it has the option for a CD (compact disk). Gave it 4 stars because it doesn't have keyboard backlight display, but overall good product for price!

Poor overall performance

I took it back to Best Buy and even though I was just past 30 days from purchase, the nice geek guy got it running. Since then it has forgotten how to start itself ten more times but eventually figures it out. The screen has zero (0) off-angle viewing. You must be squarely in front to see anything. Just a few inches off-center and the image bleaches out. This goes for the vertical plane as well. Of course the keyboard is NOT backlit and the letters on the keys are so faint as to be unreadable in other than "stadium" lighting. The blacks in the screen image are never really black; just kinda foggy grey. I bought this to replace my 11 year old SONY VIAO. Even at it's advanced age my VIAO is far superior and remains the best computer of any kind I've ever had.

I bought the geek squad 3 year warranty so it should be well protected for some time. Battery lasts a long time and charges easily and quickly. Set up was very easy and took only a few minutes.
