I love this printer. I bought this printer last year (November 2018) during the Black Friday sale for $19.99 and I love it. We had other more expensive printers in the past that would break down or run out of ink quick and would be costly to replace, but this printer is easy to set up and has worked fine every time over the last year that I have had it and the ink for it is a reasonable price and doesn't run out that quick. I may buy one or two more this year as Christmas gifts. I would highly recommend buying this printer for home use.

Very cost effective if used optimally

The printer was purchased at an absolute rock bottom price of 19.99 dollars. The printer itself comes with a setup ink which will be depleted just after a few pages. The interesting part is that it comes with $15 instant ink credit. While in general, a subscription model is a ripoff for an average customer, this particular one can be of extremely good value. When signing up with instant ink subscription, by pretending that you do not want to continue, you will be offered the first month free. By selecting that, you can subscribe to a higher level plan for free. You can then select the lowest level of $2.99 per month plan, with 50 pages per month. In this way, you get a printer, and a printing plan for half-year at $20 only. If you print exclusively photos on letter paper (which fits 3 4*6" photos), this brings ink cost per photo at $0.02. This price is only achievable otherwise by using an ecotank-like inkjet printer, which has a much higher initial purchase cost. As we know, the extremely low discount-price printers are usually traps to lure customers into the catridge system. However, with caution, this disposable printer can bring good value if you have a backlog of photos to print and can plan it carefully over the course of 6 months. $20 for printing 1050 4*6" photos is a good deal (note: theoretical maximum can only be achieved with extreme caution). One can just throw this thing away at that point without any regret (and this cheap plastic crap should reach its limit anyway). As for printing quality, the system can give a satisfactory quality that is on par with many photo printing services (if the maximum dpi option is used, and printed on some reasonable photo paper). Of course, for any serious user that need a real printer should look at the epson expression premium ecotank series, which is better in every direction. But that thing also costs 20 times more, so this cheap crap still fits the niche market that only needs to print an intermediate amount of pictures pretty well.

Well worth the buy!! Picked it up on a Black Friday sale for a great price at Best Buy, it’s been work since with out any issue. It’s been a little over two years now.I never got the free ink for the one year that was promoted at the time but you win some and lose some.

Lots of Trouble setting this up

My husband bought this for me because of the scanning feature and as a back-up if we run out of colored ink on our other printer. The instructions are not detailed enough. You need to download their app to receive instructions on how to set up. Okay, fine, I can do that. But the instructions are in a circular loop. While setting up, I got a E3 code. I had to google this and figured out that I need to put paper in the printer to continue. Once I clear the error code, the next instruction is to put paper in the printer. Maybe they should mention putting paper in BEFORE locking up the process by displaying the error code??!! Second, they have this stupid ink subscription that counts how many pages I print. Well, setting up this printer and following all the directions trying to get an email address for the printer and clearing that error code and all of that... I've already printed 11 pages; I'm allowed 50 pages per month, after which they charge an additional $1 for each 10 pages. Also, 3 of those pages were duplicates of pages I had already printed. It's almost like the sales department decided to encourage a lot of extra printing to increase the subscription cost of the ink. I told my husband, it's a good thing this printer is mostly a scanner for us because we would be over our printing limit very quickly. The print quality is fine. The scanning ability is very nice. I would recommend with caveats.
