I bought this printer because my Canon inkjet died. After looking at reviews and contemplating the absurd cost of inkjet ink cartridges and weighing that against my nonexistent need for color printing, I determined to go wit a laser jet. I have not had to purchase an ink cartridge yet, but I was pleasantly surprised by the ease with which this connected to my existing Apple network. In addition, I was accustomed to the slow and noisy pace of my Canon and was, therefore, pleased to note the speed and silence characteristic of this device. Overall, I would recommend this to anyone not in need of color reproduction through their printer.

This is a good printer for home office use.
Easy to set up, easy to change ink cartridge, prints clear when printing a document or receiving a fax. Scanner is easy to use and can feed multiple pages for scanning. Fax is also able to send and feed multiple pages.
I have not had any problem with paper jams as I used to have with a Brother printer I had, That I was lucky to print 1 or 2 pages with out a paper jam.
This printer can be used with a wireless network and has not been a problem

This printer is a black only. The ink is much cheaper compare to the HP color version so it pretty economical.
The first inkjet that came with the product only print about 750 pages. The "standard" ink supposed to print up to 1500 pages at a cost of ~$52 (normal price like 60ish).
The printing is really fast with a wired connection. Printing about 1 page every 2 sec.
The wireless connection is much slower. It will print 1 page. Stop for like 5-10sec then print 2nd page and repeat the cycle. I suggest to have the primary computer as wired and shared it through the network and use the wi-fi printing only when the primary computer is not off.
*Note* The wire that came with the printer is like only 2 feet long. I had to get a longer one to reach my PC.
This does not do auto-matic 2 side printing. There is an option for 2-side printing where it will print the first page then ask you to insert the page before printing again.
Scanning and copying is pretty good so far.
I have not use the Fax or the Batch copying yet.
Pro:
There energy saving. Auto turn off after x minute or just go on standby.
There a report section where it tells you your ink level, how many pages you printed and how many pages you have remaining.
Good for college printing of lectures and such. Definitely economical and save me a lot in my med program. I was spending $70-100 reserved printing per quarter at my college before I purchased this.
Sound wise is about on a medium level but it print really fast so nothing too annoying. I'm sitting like 2 feet from it. It can probably disturb someone sleeping.
The Con:
The touch screen sometime it not sensitive and require multiple tabbing.
Economical printing setting is quite bad and not too pleasing to my eye. It print each letter as broken triangle "notch". For example, the letter A will have like 3 opening or dotted spacing. Standard printing is good though and doesn't get smear away with water.

Love my Hp laserjet printer, just had it for only a month so far. I have an older HP laserjet printer, but couldn't update it on my new mini mac-no driver support. I still have my old printer-it's still printing great with no problems since I purchased it in 2005. This is why I went with HP-reliable. (I just hope that HP will support this one a little longer.) Printing is beautiful & fast. Haven't done a whole lot of other stuff with it. It's great having a wireless printer. Don't know about ink consumption....but is energy certified. It has a flat-bed scanner which my old one doesn't.

Poor-quality scanner

I bought this all-in-one printer specifically because it could scan at up to 1200 dpi. BIG disappointment. A magazine cover scanned at 1200 dpi on this printer is of poorer quality than one at 600 dpi scanned on a 6-year-old Canon. It has washed-out colors and it's blurry. I'm returning it and getting a Canon.
If you only need to print, then it's fine. Easy set-up and print quality is good.

The printer was easy to set up. All functions worked smoothly right away: fax, scan, copy, and printing. We don't need to print in color. So, we chose a laser printer. Our first laser printer lasted 12 years and used only three toner cartridges. This printer is much faster and quieter, and the printed words and images are clearer and more distinct. After two months of usage, the toner cartridge is still full.

I have worked on them for many years and I can tell you this device does work and functions outstanding for a black and white printer. The wireless feature works, depending on your network the speed can vary so check with your home network first to see if you get a good enough signal where the printer will be sitting. I also enabled the scan to email feature which is not bad (its not a corporate setup by any means) but it does work. Printing capabilities are outstanding, it prints real quickly without issues.

I have only good things to say about the hardware so far, but there seems to be an important restriction about the driver. I had an urgent need to get the printer running. I followed to the letter, all instructions supplied by the manufacturer, in print, online, and in help forum, and blew a day feeling stupid trying to install the driver to no avail. It was not until after throwing $200 at Geeksquad that I was told that in theory, the driver needs to be installed in a "managed environment" (?!) which means that if you have more than 30 processes running simultaneously, the driver will not install: I would have liked to know this *before* wasting a day & $200. Would still recommend, with this caveat.

I've used HP printers for years, and hope this one lasts as long as the one I still have from 1997. It feels a little cheap - or perhaps a better way to describe it is light. My old one feels like a tank, and this one is larger but not as heavy. So far it's worked well as both a printer and a fax.

I'm very happy with this printer. Print quality is excellent & print speed is great. Cost of replacement laser cartridge (around $83) is very reasonable for the number of pages it can print. Set up & adding to my wifi network was quick & easy. I highly recommend this printer.

I wanted a printer that would make a hundred or so copies in a short period of time, with easy set-up, fax capable with minor tech flaw history. I had this laser printer for over a month now with no problems or technical faults. Cartridge change-out is simple, 15-20 seconds. The printer is quiet and simple use. I do have 2 recommendations to consider, buy a longer USB cable to connect to your desktop or laptop and a extra print cartridge to keep on the shelf. I have always had good experiences dealing with H/P technical online support for years. This is my 3rd printer in about 10 years. This printer has meet my goal, easy set-up, fax capable, quiet, copies at good speed/minute, copies are good quality. It works good with no problems
