Customers are impressed with the performance, screen quality, and GPU of the 15.6" Gaming Laptop, citing smooth gameplay and excellent visuals. However, some users noted that the battery life could be improved and that the fan can be noisy during demanding tasks. The keyboard and lightweight design also received positive feedback. A few customers felt the price was high.

Awesome little laptop, 8 core 16 thread Ryzen processor is a beast. Stronger than my Ryzen 5 3600. The rtx 3060 blows away my 1660 super and is on par or stronger than my desktop 2060 super.
Computer is lightweight. And if your not using GPU intensive apps, it will your the onboard Radeon graphics to save power.
Display is clear, backlit keyboard is nice. Can’t really complain! Great laptop with current gen specs.

This laptop is a good value for an RTX laptop. I'm getting well over 115 fps on titles such as Hitman 3 and Total War: Warhammer II while both CPU and GPU remain at decent temperatures. The RGB keyboard is nice to have and the build quality seems good. Although I would recommend buying and installing an additional M.2 SSD as the 512 GB will fill up quickly with big titles such as Call of Duty. Only had the laptop for a month at this point but I am happy so far.

I got this for my kids, especially the older one who is into AAA games. We can play any games with pretty goid performance with no problems.
Battery life is not the greatest, but not too bad.
It has been about a month and no issues with overheating or crashing.
Overall, happy with the purchase.

Great laptop, it runs games great and doesn’t get super loud most of the time. Its not super heavy either, which makes bringing it to class totally viable. My only issue is the battery life. It runs maybe 4-6 hrs without a charge

I bought this for myself since it was on sale and I really wanted to play games with friends. It's buttery smooth with pretty much everything. Before I figured out how to use the gpu instead of the integrated graphics, I still got decent framerates in minecraft with high render distance and all which was kinda funny. The speakers are also really good, I've used it for music while cleaning. Loud, crisp, ticks all the boxes. Screen has a bit of light bleed, only noticeable when it's dark and the screen is displaying dark colors, but it does bug me a bit. Otherwise a great screen though. Omen gaming hub doesn't always work perfectly and it's a bit of a nuisance having to reset my keyboard lighting after every start up.

This is one heck of a gaming/productivity laptop. It doesn't look tacky in an office environment which is a key factor for me. Under the hood, you have a very solid starting base that will satisfy 80% of the users base without the immediate need to upgrade. An extra slot for storage add on is also ideal rather having to replace the existing drive. Being able to upgrade to 64G ram is also a plus. Externally, the screen looks great and it's certainly sufficient for most uses. The fit and feel of the build is also good, although it does seem a bit flimsy at times. Finally, the weight is right on par with what one would expect for a laptop this size. It's not the lightest, but I would have no issue with lugging this thing around all day.

Overall, a good gaming laptop. Fast, crisp and responsive display, a tad loud with fans when stressed as expected, and great keypad. Easy enough to upgrade.
Touchpad seemed to have unexpected play, in that it traveled a bit on first press, to which there was no response, and required additional pressure to make contact. Not a deal breaker, but not up to quality expected.
Top has some flexibility to it and consequently the bottom bezel of the screen is much wider than the rest, to add strength. I almost think there is additional screen space beneath it.

So far so good not wanting to jinx it lol! I will say this is not a max q gpu! You get the full power which per this unit says a 100 watts! So far performs excellent! I had last year Intel model with the 2060 and this runs significantly quieter with the ability to adjust the fans in 100 rpm increments which is nice! So far very impressed only this different besides the specs is little rubber nubs to prevent screen lid from flexing

Chipset and no thunderbolt really hold it back

I bought this as a backup to my desktop and at the time of purchase selection was very limited. My first choice was a Lenovo Legion but the 5000 series laptops were weeks away so I settled on this unit.
Its' not bad but it lacks little things like the 10 key pad, a thunderbolt port but more importantly its chipset runs 3rd gen m.1 slots so if you add a gen 4 ssd it can only run a half speed. Installing a 2nd drive is pretty straightforward after you take the back cover off but the screws are made of a soft metal and even with using the correct screwdriver I managed to almost round out one of the heads.
I learned that when I attached it to a thunderbolt 4 dock (its USB c port handles video, data and charging but not at the USB 4 level) that its chipset cannot handle all of the USB hubs causing errors as it disables any devices on those hubs rendering them useless. My X570 desktop doesn't have this limitation. I've tried moving things around because I also use a KVM switch so I can share my peripherals and monitors with all of my machines plus my work laptop but still end up with errors.
The other thing is that the battery drains down just sitting in its bag with it turned off. If I don't use it and leave it a week I'll have under 50% battery left and all it did was sit in my bag turned off as I never sleep or hibernate it.
The backlit keyboard doesn't allow for individual key color assignments so you're limited to 4 zones. The keys feel okay, the backlighting is good and the Omen software works okay but you'll have to fiddle around with it to learn how to assign colors.
I'll probably sell this soon and get a fully featured Lenovo and be done with it.

- Cpu is on par wtih Desktop 3700x when run bench on cpu-z. In reality, it is very fast and comparable to 3700x since it consumes 65W instead of 35W.
- Gpu rtx3060 is a high watt variant 85+ which is way stronger than the max q (80w).
- Cooling is great, can't feel the heat when running game but fans are noisy.
- Overall, there's no compromise in performance when compared to Asus Zephyrus G14's low watt variants of components.
PS: I plug this laptop in with my monitor so battery is not a concern.

I ah e recently transitioned into the IT field so I wanted to upgrade my PC to one that is designed to handle a heavy workload with intense graphics.
After almost a month, this computer has not disappointed. I mai my leave it docked to use an external monitor, keyboard and mouse, but wanted the versatility to be able to use it on the go.
The fan does get loud under more demanding games, but the temperature is well regulated so I am okay with the trade off.

This laptop is pretty good. It's a beast in that it can handle even my most demanding VR games on a Vive Pro no problem and the screen looks great.
For some reason HP got rid of the number pads on their Omen lineup, which was a pretty big bummer, but on the up side, this allowed them to add a much more usable arrow key layout.
The SSD is a bit small at 512GB too, but overall, it's a very capable laptop.

Good but flickering issues

This is a decent laptop for the price, but the screen has issues... I don't quite know if it is hardware or software because updating the AMD driver seems to help.
Anyway the issue (before upgrading the OEM AMD driver) is that sometimes the screen will flicker, most notably during web browsing with the worst effects seen in the laptop waking from sleep. Sometimes, when waking from sleep, the screen will just freeze on a glitch and you'll have to restart the laptop. Updating the AMD driver to a driver found on AMD's website will fix the screen crashing when waking up from sleep, but the screen flashing is still there.
Which makes me think that it is more of a software issue? Either way, I wanted to like this laptop, but AMD just won't let me.
I've had an AMD desktop before and I was hoping newer silicon would be better, but the software issues are still there... So beware.
Everything else, is fine, screen color is great--although backlight bleed is a little annoying. Performance is good.

I've had this laptop for two weeks and it's a great midrange gaming experience. The screen is pretty great. Nice color, brightness and zero ghosting while gaming. The 3060 is 100 watts max and hangouts near 85-90 watts. Temps are good too. I'd recommend it if you are looking for a ryzen 5000 series with the 3060.

This was my first gaming laptop purchase. HP has done a decent job with this laptop for the budget segment,
I felt that the build should be more sturdy, there is really a lot of screen flex that made me bother.
The screen is good with enough brightness , colors & refresh rate for gaming.
The keyboard & trackpad is okay, nothing special. RGB looks good.
Battery life is average due to less capacity. But still Ryzen does good job & battery life is comparable to higher capacity Intel based solutions.
Overall I did not like the machine that much, the price increase also is not justifiable. The bottom panel also makes hollow noise when placing on desk.
