Could have been so much better!

Prebuilt gaming PCs have gotten a lot better over the years and this HP Omen 35L featuring the Ryzen 7 8700G and RTX 4060Ti mostly delivers, but it’s got a couple unfortunate drawbacks. I’ve mostly helped build computers over the years, but desperately needed a new machine for myself so this will be it going forward. While perfectly suitable for my needs there are definitely a lot of things I would have changed if I was building it that would have pushed the experience even further. —- ALL tests were done at 1440p Unboxing/setup: You will need at least a couple hours of free time to make sure the system is set up properly and that’s before you get into any actual gaming. The unboxing experience was rather simple though - the tower was packaged safely and you also get a mouse/keyboard if needed. After that just hook up your monitor, any peripherals, and hit the power button. The annoying setup experience comes next since Windows 11 will ask you to enable a lot of different options that most of you won’t need. Think you can just game right away once in Windows 11? I would recommend you don’t. Update ALL the drivers first - windows updates, bios, graphics card, audio, and any programs you use often. My system wasn’t running the smoothest until I did all that. Case/design: I’m coming from a PC that had a black/white design so this is right up my alley. The case is very pretty and has a lot of options for different fan setups. By default you get 2 large intake fans and a standard single exhaust - All RGB! The large tempered glass panel allows you to display your components which is really nice. The only thing I don’t like about the design is the amount of OMEN/35L branding spread across the case. Ports/IO: You’re looking at a very nice amount of ports for all your needs. Most of them are fast too! (5GBs or 10) There’s 2 USB-A ports on the front, a USB-C port, and a headphone jack. Coming to the back you get 6 USB-A ports, a USB-C port, and audio. The GPU has 4 total inputs - 3x DisplayPort, and 1x HDMI. Overall I’m really happy with the amount of ports you get, I had no problem hooking everything up and it’s nice to be able to use external storage and have multiple monitor support. Key specs - Ryzen 7 8700G RTX 4060 Ti 16GB DDR5 (5200MHz - overclockable to 6000MHz) 1TB SSD (Gen 4 NVMe) How it translates to performance: Overall the performance is really good for any game you throw at it as well as any video editing/benchmarks. I do question the choice of using the 8700G though… It's more of a chip designed for being used without a GPU, and it doesn’t have as strong single/multi threaded performance compared to the older 7700. It shows in benchmarks (see Geekbench 6 screenshot) and in games that still rely heavily on the CPU like Counter-Strike 2 the performance was not ideal. I got about 250-350 FPS on average on low settings, and I believe a stronger CPU easily would have netted me an extra 100-200. Other games that rely equally or more so on the GPU performed fantastic though - which leads me to the RTX 4060 Ti. This is the variant that only comes with 8GB of VRAM, but I did not find that to be an issue at all even when cranking up the 1440p settings in games like Cyberpunk, GTA V, and Forza Horizon 5. In terms of RAM 16GB was almost entirely being used by some of these games, so I would recommend bumping up to 32GB as soon as you get the chance to be future proof. What also could have been bumped up is the amount of storage, and while the speeds are plenty fast (gen 4 SSD) with a lot of games pushing well over 100GB you will be eating it up fast. Overall this is the part that makes me really question the value of this system as it should have definitely been specced a bit better for the price. The thing I would have changed the most is ditching the 8700G for something else and having 32GB of RAM. Other specs - RGB fans and CPU cooler 600W 80+ Gold (non modular) PSU The fans in the system actually do an amazing job of keeping every component cool, and silent! I was shocked as soon as I turned it on. Even when gaming on near max load noise just wasn’t an issue. The PSU being used is plenty good as well since it’s 600 watts with good efficiency, but I wish it was modular. You can see a lot of excess cables not being used because of this. Closing thoughts: Questionable components lead to questionable value… At the end of the day it’s still a good gaming PC, but it could have been so much better! I’d recommend it more on sales. Pros: * Attractive case with good airflow * Good amount of ports * Great GPU * Fast SSD Cons: * CPU choice * 16GB of RAM * Cable management

wow I honestly did not see this coming from Omen with their latest redesign, I feel like they have kept almost the same Omen Pc design for a very long time. this refresh I felt like is a much needed for the company, and so far this PC is looking good. a new 35L which is a bit smaller than their previous I think is a way better attractive product they have. DESIGN I got the white version and the design looks very minimalist that doesn’t have much of a aggressive look, you have a well printed OMEN logo at front and another one at the right side and 35L printed at the bottom of the glass panel. it has a great matted white finish and a front black matted finish. this mid size looks beautiful I could honestly see myself using this case on future upgrade can’t really say much about the design beside your typical location for your working, parts accessories are all. I love how the fact that Omen decided to design and create their own parts. I feels like they are more serious this time around that actually created a team dedicated to building their own accessories. PERFORMANCE this Omen 35L is equipped with Nvidia RTX 4060 TI GPU. with CPU Ryzen 7 8700G, 16 GB DDR5 Memory and 1 TB NVME which is pretty much a standard I would definitely upgrade the RAM to 32 GB. most of my time testing was playing Black Myth Wukong. i’m using my MSI oled 360hz with 1440p resolution. this PC was able to automatically set the game on High Settings. with that I was getting over 120fps it was also utilizing 97% on GPU so yeah maybe if best if I keep it on high setting. CPU temps I was getting around 35 degrees at the game utilities about 64% of my RAM, another game that I spend a great amount of time was Sifu the single player kung fu game. I was getting massive performance on that game with this 4060 TI, I was honestly surprised. with everything set to max my FPS was going above 200 to high 100+ fps it was a joy to play. you shouldn’t have any issue running all games with this PC, I would also say this is a great PC to have for Sim Racing. since you technically don’t need high graphics and most Sim racing game are not graphics heavy. overall the PC was quite I was keeping with PC performance using Omen dedicated applications which I think works well. hey why not use it, they build it for a reason. CONCLUSION OMEN 35L was a great come back for Omen as a company i’m glad they went beyond what they were comfortable at and actually created something that they can be proud of. they don’t look like just another prebuild PC to me. PC was stunning with great RGB on fans it blends great the white case with white fans pops a lot when it’s on. one thing I wish I know it’s only a 4060 TI but I wish the PSU had dedicated button it turn off. looks like you’ll only get that unless you get a much beefed up version of this PC. overall fantastic job Dell Omen, keep it up now I can actually recommend their PC.

The latest HP Omen Gaming Desktop delivers on so many areas, gamers are not going to be sure what to point out is their favorite part and I think that’s what really hammers home the value this provides! Let me give my thoughts on this desktop so far: PROS: - Unboxing this is a really nice looking desktop. Gone are the days where you hide your desktop underneath your desk, now you want to proudly show it and the HP Omen does that! It looks very futuristic, very sleek and modern, and of course the aesthetics of the lights and open box design really make it a statement piece for your home gaming/computing setup. - Right off the bat you notice how fast and speedy this desktop is. I mean it’s packed with an awesome AMD processor, 16 GB ram, and a 1 TB SSD so you would assume it would be, but experiencing it first hand is something else. It could easily handle me having multiple programs open at once and had no lag time while doing so. - Speaking of performance, gaming performance is awesome for this as well! The dedicated NVIDIA graphics card really showcases the highest end you can get with amazing processing speed, great reaction time, and overall a high performance for me to feel like I have a real edge using a desktop like this. - I will also add this PC is just simply great for doing anything on. It can handle content creation, content consumption, home office needs, and overall entertainment. Makes for a do it all type of approach that add to the value of this desktop. - If you are into upgrading and customizing your PC, this HP Omen 35L does that too. HP makes it really easy to access the components so you can modify and swap out and overall is a great feature for future proofing. - Lastly, this has a lot of nice inputs like USB-C ports, USB-A, and headphone/microphone jacks so you can make sure to have your best accessories hooked up with fast response times. CONS: - Only WiFi 6, not 7. Although I’d imagine most people would hardwire in but still a missing feature! - An HDMI chord in the box would have been nice too! But thats pretty standard these days. BOTTOM LINE: - PC Gamers want the best and this is what the HP Omen 35L Gaming Desktop offers. It has a stunning design that is begged to be seen, tons of power with lots of memory and tons of storage, a dedicated graphics card that is the best of the best, and ports and customization that can help you make this desktop your own for a long time. I’ve had a lot of fun using this for gaming and more, and I think its will be a winner for many!

Pros: - Easy to set up (packaging is great too) - Super quiet, almost no noise at all! - Everything works well, games run smoothly, PC keeps cool, RAM and GPU does it's job - Good value if on sale (I got this for around $1000) - Very aesthetic as well, RGB colors and case - There's reviews saying it tends to heat up a bit, but so far with normal usage it's kept super cool and case has great air flow Cons (nothing too big): - Windows 11 lol - Some bloatware (McAfee) - The HP game hub can be annoying but you sort of need it - The free mouse and keyboard it comes with are both WIRED which means it is basically useless (but I guess it's free) - The Bluetooth has given me a little bit of issue, but it might also just be a problem with my other device Overall: It's a great prebuilt PC. You can see the care HP put into this down to the details. It has run everything quite well after the initial setup and removing some bloatware. I would recommend this.

PC came in really nice packaging. The PC itself is pretty big compared to most, but it looks really nice on a desk. It came with a keyboard and mouse. Neither of them were anything crazy, but they work and feel good. The PC itself hasn't had any trouble playing the games I like. For the gamers out there who care a little too much about the specs when they are playing their first person shooters, you may want something else. Personally, the pc ran even the fancier fps's. Didn't struggle with higher settings or anything. Despite this, I know those hardcore gamers won't be satisified with 'only' 100 frames a second on max settings. I play a lot of indie games and vr, so I never ran into any issues with performance. This isn't necessarily a negative, but something I just found weird is that there is no 'real' power or reset button on the pc. The power button it has just boots it up and puts the pc in 'sleep mode'. It isn't able to actually turn off the pc. In order to turn it off, you have to press the 'shut down' button in the windows software. I also noticed that there wasn't a physical restart button. I haven't ever needed to restart it physically, but if I ever need to restart it, it would be nice to have one. The only two issues I've had are as follows: The rgb on the ram stick doesn't turn off, even in sleep mode. And, It comes preinstalled with McAfee, and it didn't want to uninstall nicely, so I had to force it a bit. The thing kept notifying me after my 1 month free was up, but I had to really dig through the files to get the whole of the program off my computer. As for the nerdy specs aspect of the computer; Probably not worth the whole price. I got mine on sale for $1000, so it was about what the thing is worth. The stuff inside is all around decent, but the cpu and gpu aren't on the same level, which means it could be working better than it is. Luckily the thing isn't hard to take apart, so you can add upgrades to it as your budget allows. The short of this is as the title says. The thing isn't bad by any standards, but only buy it when it's on sale. Also, if you are really particular about preformance, you might need to upgrade things as you see fit. Nothing actually wrong with the product though, so 5/5.

Pc is solid but Impressed with the upgradability!

If you are like many gamers looking to enter the PC gaming space or even someone who has experience with Pc gaming and wants to upgrade but does not need a the most powerful machine then this pc might be right. Especially if you game on a high refresh rate 1080p monitor or if you have a 1440p monitor but you play less demanding games. The 4060ti is not a beast by any means but it isn’t necessarily a slouch either. Paired with a very capable ryzen 7 8700G with built in graphics(if ever needed to troubleshoot) plus 16gb of DDR5 running at a fast 5200mt and a 1TB gen 4 NVME WIFI 6 and Bluetooth 5.3. The CPU cooler tower while small is very nice with the included RGB fan and keeps the temps down while gaming for a few hours. I’m not sure what the motherboard is but it’s HP branded and seems like a solid board from the looks of it and has plenty of features. The power supply is also HP branded but I’m guessing it’s manufactured by LITE ON. which is a very reputable OEM company and if I’m correct you won’t have any issues with the power supply. It’s a 600 watt 80 plus gold. I also believe it’s a newer 3.0 power supply as it has a high power 12 pin connector sitting inside the 3.5 inch HDD tray slot. (Awesome). Before I get into the upgradability, I’ll say this. This is not going to blow any one away. While playing Fortnite on a 1440p monitor I averaged about 100 fps on medium-high ish settings which are solid but not amazing. Warzone is even lower at around 80 fps at medium settings. Those are the types of games I play so this pc is more suitable for my 7year old son who is big into gaming as well but does not care if he hits 165hz in every game. One great thing about the 40 series cards is DLSS3.0. It does help to increase your FPS but at a cost of fidelity and latency. That’s a great feature to have but if you don’t want to take the hit go for one of HP higher end gaming pc for sure. Spend the extra bucks can’t hurt. As far as the reason I think HP deserves some praise is due to the fact that they have really thought about the typical PC enthusiasts. Meaning that you can upgrade several parts to make this more powerful and more customizable to your liking. Like the 12 pin high power connector with a 600 watt PSU you should realistically be able to upgrade to a 4070ti or higher if you wanted later on. Also HP made it super easy to add more fans with the fan hub on the back plus rgb. Good job there. They also made it to where you can unscrew the top panel and remove it to add 2 more fans up top(do exhaust) you screw them in and replace the fan tray and screw back in(see my pics).they also thought to make a slot for an older mechanical HDD to save some money on a game drive. This might sound like useless information if all you plan on doing is buying this pc and gaming but you will love being able to upgrade your own pc in the future Im sure of it. Over all this pc looks beautiful, runs cool&smoothly, is capable enough plus you have an upgrade path so I can recommend so long as you keep your expectations in check. Only down side I would say is that they really should have added at the very least a non mechanical RGB keyboard and mouse. But it’s fine I guess lol. Sorry so long but I hope this helps in your buying decision. Good luck and happy gaming ya!

The HP Omen 35L is a solid gaming PC with great performance and a sleek design. However, the 16GB RAM can feel a bit limiting for heavy multitasking or future-proofing, so I’d recommend upgrading to at least 32GB. Similarly, the 1TB SSD might not be enough if you have a large game library or work with big files, so consider adding more storage. That said, it’s still a great machine that’s easy to upgrade, making it a reliable choice for gaming and other demanding tasks.

Unpacking my HP Omen 35L was a great and exciting experience. The packaging was so thorough that even a dented box wouldn't have touched the desktop inside. Despite all that material, it was easy to get out, thanks to the heavy-duty plastic bag with handles. Seeing the desktop for the first time blew me away. The flat white with black accents looks cool, and the inside was super clean and organized, unlike some previous OMEN models that I had 3-4 years ago. However, the keyboard and mouse included felt like a mismatch and too basic compared to this sleek and powerful machine. Honestly, I’d prefer nothing over those, especially since most gamers will upgrade them anyway. Noise-wise, this is the quietest PC I’ve ever had. My old OMEN was fans were noisy and mismatched to its performance and I had to do a lot of my own upgrades. The 35L on the other hand has four large RGB fans are whisper-quiet, even on full turbo. The cooling system, with its sideways-mounted CPU fan and radiator, looks like a wind tunnel and works like it supposed to cool your computer. All the fans are large—the front case fans are 140mm, and the CPU and rear fans are 120mm. It’s clear that airflow was a big design focus. Gaming on the HP Omen 35L Gaming Desktop is where this desktop performs. Whether you're diving into a visually intense game like Forza Horizon or battling it out in Warzone, the Omen 35L makes every frame count. The graphics are crisp and there are no delays and will never miss a beat! What sets this desktop apart is how quietly it operates. With the four large RGB fans barely making a whisper, you can concentrate on your gaming without the distraction of loud fan noise. Even when you're pushing the system to its limits, it remains cool. It doesn't even squeak! Through the OMEN HUB, you can tweak performance settings to your liking and sync the RGB lighting to match your style. The AMD Ryzen 7 8700G CPU handles multitasking like a champ. Whether you're recording your gameplay, chatting with friends, search the web while you wait for a game to load, everything runs smooth. The HP Omen 35L Gaming Desktop is a game changer for me. It’s powerful, quiet, and looks amazing. Aside from the basic keyboard and mouse, everything about it is based on quality and performance. Whether you're into gaming or the latest releases, this desktop handles it all. Specs and features: Windows 11 Home comes pre-installed. Nvidia GeForce RTX 4060 Ti for killer graphics. Kingston Fury DDR Dual Channel RAM (16GB) with two slots for future upgrades. 128GB RAM support on the motherboard 1TB PCIe Gen4 NVMe M.2 SSD for fast storage. With spots to add more! OMEN HUB for easy system management of everything gaming, lighting, and mods. 3 USB Type-C 3.1 (10Gbps), 4 USB Type-A 3.0 (5Gbps), and 4 USB Type-A 2.0. AMD Ryzen 7 8700G CPU with 8 cores at 5.1 GHz, a beast for gaming. 1 HDMI port and 3 DisplayPorts. Wi-Fi 6 support and Bluetooth. 600W power supply—ample for all my needs. The CPU cooling system is air-based despite its liquid-cooler look. As a retro game lover, I played SIMS 2 without a hitch. I also ran newer games like Forza, Halo, and Warzone at full output, and it handled them effortlessly.

Unboxing and Setup: Packaged with care, the PC was a breeze to unbox and transfer to my desk using the included bag with handles from the box. Inside, I found a basic white mouse and keyboard that matched the tower's aesthetic. The setup was incredibly easy: I simply plugged everything in, added my account, and updated all the necessary software, drivers, and Windows updates. The entire process took around an hour. First Impressions/Gameplay Performance: My initial reaction upon pressing the power button was WOW—this thing is QUIET! It makes virtually no noise at all. Even with all the fans running on performance mode and set to turbo during gameplay, it remained barely audible. As for gameplay, the HP Omen handled every game I threw at it flawlessly on max settings with 1440p resolution. There were no issues with screen tearing, choppiness, freezing, or any other common PC gaming problems. Everything was silky smooth, with a high frame rate, quiet fans, and overall perfect performance. Case and Hardware: The HP Omen 35L case features a striking white and black design, with one side sporting a clear window to showcase the compact, well-organized hardware inside. Opening the case is effortless: just twist the four back screws—no tools needed—making cleaning and upgrading a breeze. The customizable RGB lighting is a standout feature, allowing me to personalize the PC's look to match my style and mood. The vibrant colors and effects make the setup even more visually appealing. For its price, the hardware is impressive. The RTX 4060 Ti provides future-proofing for gaming. My immediate upgrade plans include boosting the SSD and at least doubling the current 16GB DDR5 RAM, which won't be costly at all. I also appreciate the ample ports, including multiple high-speed USB ports, three Display Ports for multiple monitors, an HDMI port, and even a headphone jack. Omen Gaming Hub: Pre-installed on the PC is the Omen Gaming Hub, my go-to for customizing the RGB lighting, setting power modes (Balanced or Performance), adjusting fan speeds, and monitoring system vitals like temperature and GPU/CPU/RAM utilization. It optimizes programs to run games better, provides a network booster to prevent online lag, enables overclocking for improved performance when needed, and even lets me shop for games and find deals. I was also pleased to see that a month of Xbox Game Pass Ultimate was included for free, allowing me to immediately install and play plenty of games at no cost. Overall Thoughts: I absolutely recommend the HP OMEN - 35L Gaming Desktop. It runs flawlessly, is quiet, and can handle anything you throw at it. With just some minor memory upgrades, I would consider this PC to be perfect. As it stands, it’s still amazing at the current price.

Got this computer during black friday sale. Since then, It's been nice! No problems, easy setup, looks clean, and the rgb lights are a plus! The program to change the rgb on the ram doesnt really work, it resets once the computer has been restarted. I don't mind because I'm not a hardcore rgb guy. The computer runs great!

This is a great desktop with more than enough power for most people. There are some drawbacks, the included wifi card doesnt get great speeds, I would upgrade to the Intel Ax210 they can be had in amazon for less than 30.00, if you want to uograde the ram keep in mind that per my testing no ram will work correctly with the included ddr5 you will need to replace them, also ram only works in slots 2 and 4 for some reason it wont work in 1 and 3, I found that if i mix the channels with the included ram staying in 2 and 4 and then I added Kingston Fury beast rgb 6000MT into the remaining slots if i let it sit for a few eventually it would boot but would inly run at 1700mt which in dual channel is equivalent to 3200. If I use with my acer nitro 180hz 1440 monitor, i have to turn thr monitor off and on sometimes to get a signal, sometimes the unit doesnt post, I have ruled out the unit being bad as this is my second one. IN SUMMARY, DONT USE AN ACER MONITOR with this unit and AS LONG AS YOU PLAN TO LEAVE THE COMPUTER AS IT COMES OUT OF THE BOX, THIS IS A GREAT DESKTOP TO BUY. $techdigital if this review helped you.

I went to just buy a PC for regular use but did not need a laptop, so looking through all the desktops I found this one and for the Black Friday price it was more then a deal! Fair priced, easy to set up, and beasty powerful, I can probably even mine crypto on it if I wanted ;) I’m happy with this purchase

Going into the store to pickup one of these desktops after seeing it on sale for 450$ off was a wonderful experience because of the deal, the nice worker who assisted me in finding a quality monitor to go with it, and the availability of other peripherals to consider. Not only is this desktop suitable for lower high end gaming but it serves nicely as a desktop for work and school. Bestbuy deals during black friday for quality items such as this are amazing!

Great machine. I use this PC mainly for streaming. I am able to multi stream on Stream Labs to Twitch and TikTok with no issues. Stream quality is great and cpu usage remains low during the entire stream. I haven’t tried to play while streaming yet as at I play on console mainly. Overall fast, handles well, and a beautiful design. Only thing that could be better is more HDMI ports but I plan to upgrade the GPU later anyway. I have used it to game aside of streaming and handles Apex Legends wonderfully. There are some frame drops here and there but I do run on WiFi and not Ethernet cord. Maintains 144fps throughout the game, aside from the drops occasionally which only last for like 2 sec.

This computer was a massive upgrade for me. I bought it during the most recent Black Friday sale. My pc kept crashing, and it was old enough that I could justify getting a new one. This thing is capable of playing pretty much any game you want up to 1080p and 60 fps. If you’re looking to play games at a higher resolution than that consistently, you’re gonna wanna buy something more powerful. But for the price to performance ratio, I am very happy with this. It’s also one of the most aesthetically pleasing PCs I’ve ever seen.

Bought this for the wife, i couldnt have even built her one for the price i got this at (999). She loves it, its very esthetically pleasing, the fans are entirely silent even while gaming, and the omen software is very beginner friendly. It has run any game shes tried to play at max settings on 1080p so far. This particular prebuilt also uses standard components so upgrading should not be an issue. Honestly there is nothing i dislike about this unit.

This was a replacement gaming computer, i had bought some games and my old computer couldn't handle them. This computer handles everything i needed. I wasn't looking for a top end computer, just 1 that would last my gaming needs for awhile. From what ive experienced so far, this computer is above and beyond my expectations. I may need more ram in the future, but for now, it's great. Im very happy with it for now.
