HP OMEN :Unleashing Desktop-Class Power on the Go.

The HP OMEN - MAX 16 isn't just a gaming laptop; it's a statement. Equipped with a powerhouse combination of an Intel Core Ultra 9 275HX processor and an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5080 Laptop GPU, this machine is meticulously engineered for the enthusiast who demands uncompromising performance. It’s a bold, desktop-level experience packed into a portable form factor, and it largely succeeds in its ambitious goal.
Design and Build Quality: A Shift in Style
HP has continued its evolution of the OMEN design, moving away from overtly aggressive aesthetics and embracing a sleek, professional look. The Shadow Black chassis is crafted from a durable metal alloy, giving the laptop a premium, solid feel. It's not the thinnest or lightest machine in its class, but the build quality is immaculate, with minimal flex and a reassuring heft. The subtle OMEN branding and per-key RGB lighting strike a perfect balance, making it just as suitable for a boardroom as it is for a gaming tournament. The port selection is also well-thought-out, with the most-used ports—including the power connector and HDMI 2.1—located on the rear to keep your desk clean.
The Display: A Window to the Battlefield
The 16-inch display is a highlight, offering a crisp 2560 x 1600 (WQXGA) resolution and a lightning-fast 240Hz refresh rate. The rapid 3ms response time is crucial for competitive gaming, ensuring motion clarity and a smooth, blur-free experience. For a gaming laptop, the screen delivers excellent color accuracy and contrast, making it great for both gaming and creative work. Combined with NVIDIA G-SYNC support, the display offers a tear-free experience that truly showcases the power of the components.
Performance: Unbridled Power
This is where the OMEN - MAX 16 truly lives up to its name. The Intel Core Ultra 9 275HX is a multi-core beast, featuring 24 cores and a max turbo frequency of 5.4 GHz. It performs at or above the level of its predecessors while offering a significant leap in power efficiency, making it an ideal choice for a high-performance laptop. In our tests, it delivered exceptional frame rates across a range of modern AAA games, including Cyberpunk 2077 and Elden Ring, as well as high-refresh-rate performance in esports titles like VALORANT and CS2.
The NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5080, with its 16GB of GDDR7 VRAM, is a generational leap forward. Leveraging the new Blackwell architecture, it provides next-level AI-enhanced performance, enabling features like NVIDIA DLSS 4 and RTX Neural Shaders. These technologies not only boost frame rates dramatically but also improve visual fidelity with full ray tracing and advanced lighting effects. While the laptop's fans can get loud under full load—a necessary trade-off for this level of power—HP's OMEN Tempest Cooling Pro system does an impressive job of keeping temperatures in check, preventing thermal throttling during extended gaming sessions.
Other Features and Considerations
The laptop’s 32GB of DDR5-5600 MHz memory and 1TB NVMe SSD ensure that it can handle intensive multitasking and offers incredibly fast loading times. The keyboard is comfortable for both gaming and typing, though some might find the keys a bit mushy. The audio, tuned by HyperX, provides a decent spatial sound experience, but for serious gamers, a headset is still recommended. One minor drawback is the performance drop when running on battery, which is a common limitation for most high-powered gaming laptops.
Verdict: A New King of the Hill
The HP OMEN - MAX 16 is a phenomenal piece of hardware that solidifies HP's position at the top tier of the gaming laptop market. It combines a clean, premium design with best-in-class components and a stunning display. While the fans can be a bit noisy and it's not the most portable laptop on the market, these are small concessions for the sheer power it delivers. It's a machine built for those who want to game at the highest settings and are also engaged in demanding creative work. For its raw performance, cutting-edge features, and sophisticated design, the HP OMEN - MAX 16 is a top-tier choice that sets a new standard for gaming laptops.

Insane Laptop - HP is Back

If you had asked me a couple years ago if I’d ever recommend that anyone buy an HP Omen, it would’ve been a resounding “no”. This laptop right here though might just take the cake as not only HP’s best laptop they’ve ever made by far, but possibly one of the best gaming laptops you can buy in 2025, especially for the price. The CPU is insanely powerful and the laptop has no problem keeping thermals in check while gaming. There is a ton of customization in the Omen software for adjusting your fan speeds, power levels, undervolting, overclocking, and even load line calibration on the CPU, that is like next level tweaking! Of course battery life isnt gonna be great on these, and Nvidia’s 50 series as a whole is a little disappointing outside of multi frame gen, but that’s not HP’s fault. This laptop is a beast for the money though and is really hard to beat. Mostly metal chassis, premium and sleek feel that is super sturdy, ports on the back, nice per-key RGB if you’re cool with the pudding caps, decent trackpad, okay speakers, and just tons of customization and features, and some of the highest power and performance that you can get out of a 16” laptop anywhere else.

The Shadow Beast that Redefines Gaming Power

The HP OMEN MAX 16" Gaming Laptop is an absolute monster wrapped in a sleek Shadow Black shell—built for those who don’t just play games, but conquer them.
Right out of the box, the 16" display stuns with a buttery-smooth 240Hz refresh rate, offering crisp, tear-free visuals that hardcore gamers and creative professionals will both appreciate. Whether you're in the heat of a battle royale or editing high-res footage, the screen keeps up flawlessly.
Under the hood, it packs a serious punch: the Intel Core Ultra 9 275HX paired with 32GB of memory makes multitasking seamless, even when running CPU-intensive software alongside multiple browser tabs, Discord, and OBS. Throw in the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5080, and you've got a mobile GPU that doesn’t just flirt with desktop-level performance—it rivals it.
Load times? Practically nonexistent, thanks to the 1TB SSD. Your massive game library, project files, and media all have a high-speed home.
The cooling system is intelligently designed, keeping temps in check even during extended marathon sessions. And the keyboard? Tactile, responsive, and RGB-customizable—because style matters when you’re fragging enemies at 240 frames per second.
Pros:
Lightning-fast 240Hz QHD display
Desktop-class performance from Ultra 9 + RTX 5080
Generous 32GB RAM and 1TB SSD
Sleek, stealthy design that doesn’t scream “gamer” in public
Effective thermal management
Cons:
On the heavier side, but worth it for the power
Premium price tag (but you get what you pay for)
The HP OMEN MAX 16 is not just a laptop—it's a weapon of choice for elite gamers and performance power-users. If you're ready to go full throttle into the future of gaming and content creation, this Shadow Beast delivers in every way.

Very fast and snappy.
Coming from an old 2020 Laptop with i7 and 2070, this laptop is just way way faster.
I love the whole aesthetic of this laptop, it's simple and clean once you turn the RGB off. It's not too edgy and gamery.
The keyboard feels nice to use, good travel distance and heavy-ish feel when typing. I can't stand laptops with mushy keyboards.
The layout is not the best, but also not the worst I've seen.
It's just an alright layout.
I can't imagine putting a 1 star review on this laptop specially because you didn't like the keyboard layout.
I'm sure you've seen it in the pictures before you bought it.
The screen is also very good for an IPS, it's very bright and vibrant.

Good for gaming and multitasking. Screen is excellent with 240hz display. Solid build with plenty of ports. But battery life is short and fans get loud under heavy load. A bit bulky and includes some pre-installed bloatware

The design and build of this laptop is pretty solid, outside the comically large bezels, but that's where the positives for this device end. This laptop is incompletely slow to the point it takes 4-5 seconds for the start menu to come up after clicking the windows key, takes 3+ min to open steam, etc.
This device is completely unusable even after a fresh windows install, bios update, new drivers. There's other weird things like I set the manual fan curve to the min and the laptop is silent when browsing the internet then when I put it to sleep the fans ramp up to max and will stay that way until I shut it down all the way.
I also somehow ordered the IPS version when I was almost positive I bought the oled but this screen is absolutely atrocious. The backlight bleed is hideous, anti-glare film looks horrible, bad max brightness, no hdr, etc.
I was genuinely unable to use this laptop for long enough to figure out what else is wrong with it but at this point I wouldn't use it for free much less spend a small fortune on it. Funny enough this is the slowest computer I've owned in 20+ years since my last HP lol.

Performance itself is great, no complaints at all. What I wish was better is the keyboard and the power cord port. Keyboard does not feel that great, keys feel cramped. The powercord doesn't feel that snug compared to other laptops I've used. It's easy to pull it out, which has happened to me a couple times when I picked up the laptop. It doesn't come out all the way, I just noticed the laptop was running slower when I was gaming and then realized it wasn't plugged in all the way.

Lots of weird bugs and issues (The main SSD is trapped behind the cooler assembly, so in order to remove/upgrade it, you have to remove the CPU/GPU cooler!), but that didn't really bother me... until 2 months into ownership when the laptop stopped charging. I took it into Geek Squad, and they said it was a "Hardware Failure" and decided to give me a brand new laptop. I took that opportunity to upgrade to a better laptop.
Unfortunately, I've always had issues with HP laptops lasting. I was hoping that maybe they had sorted the longevity issues, but I was proven wrong once again. Very disappointing.

Had the laptop for 5 days, tried COD and it stuttered during gaming to the point it was unplayable. Returned. According to HP and the Internet, the Core Ultra and NVidia 5000 series cards have a lot of issues. NVidia is focused on AI and could not care less about gamers, that built their company.

This is a great laptop. I don't know why that guy is complaining about the arrow keys being small and the bezels. What games does he play? Flash games on a $3k laptop. Just get a keyboard. Anyways, the OLED screen is very nice and the keyboard is designed by Hyper X. Not Dell. Dumb uninformed one star review.

The configuration and performance of this machine are quite satisfying to me, but the thick bottom bezel of the screen and those half-height arrow keys are dealbreakers. I simply can't comprehend your designers' aesthetic judgment. Do your designers even play games? Why on earth would you create such an awful arrow key design?
