I gave this computer a 3 star review. It is pretty zippy at first and I needed it for Unreal Engine project and Video editing. I think it failed me. I would have given it a one star but I bought it as an open box through Best Buy and I feel maybe I got a lemon and someone else saw this too. Best Buy sold it as in excellent condition so they might bear some of the responsibility. I thought it was because I had a real complex scene in UE 5.5 but when I worked in Resolve and other programs the computer kept crashing.

the Omen Max 16 is like if someone took a tank and taught it to game. It’s dang powerful.
• Performance? Totally crushing it. This thing runs Cyberpunk 2077 at ultra settings with ease—like a boss. In benchmarks, it’s almost always beating other RTX 5080 laptops and occasionally giving the Lenovo Legion Pro 7i a run for its money.

Great gaming laptop; Gaming Hub software is the best I've seen on a laptop; only complaint no adjustment to keep battery at 80% to improve battery life that I could find. Used everyday for email, podcasts, and gaming. Fans can occasionally be noisy, but don't bother me much.

Bought mine off of the HP website directly due a nice sale at the time. Everything worked great out if the box. All Windows upadtaes and drivers installed with zero issues. I even updated the BIOS. Then it was time to game. Loaded up several games and started playing. The laptop fans come on full force and it is loud, but games are playing fine at furst. Then i notice studdering and then a few minutes later, the laptop just shuts downs without warning. I restart the laptop and it boots up fine. I then play another game and aame exact thing happens again. I an now returnibg tgis laptop. It’s defective and does jot have the proper cooling solution to keel it stable. This is a major design glaw by HP. I hope they can fix this issue. I will be looking for a new gaming laptop that doesnt have this problem.

Pad mouse freezes sometimes and I don't like the computer port for the electrical plug. Computer electrical port is old school and they don't last as long as the USB-C.
Otherwise, great computer.
P.S.- Some of the software is slightly different than the past.

We did a lot of research and decided to get our first gaming laptop. Usually we would purchase big heavy powerful gaming PC's. I am really happy that this laptop has such great specs. This laptop has great specs, all the power you need for gaming & draws less electricity than our old gaming PC. Very happy we decided to get this one.

I purchased this laptop to be a desktop replacement. It has held up great. The only thing I would have wanted to know before making the purchase was. If you are going to hook this laptop up to a monitor. For the GPU to engage in gaming, it needs to be connected via HDMI. It will not engage the GPU through USB-C. That could have been me, not knowing that. Aside from that, I highly recommend this laptop.

I’ve been waiting to grab a 5080 laptop for a while but needed the perfect opportunity to strike. When this went on sale for Black Friday I knew i needed too. The specs are great. 32gb of ram. 5080 card. 2tb ssd. It can more than handle any game on the market with high end graphics. I recommend getting a cooling pad though because it can get hot running max.

It is a power house of a gaming laptop, overkill even. But when its unplugged its really slow and you can tell it really needs to be plugged in for any type of good performance

Laptop is fast, and pretty.
However, the speakers are terrible and the screen is almost like a mirror...they put almost no reflective covering over this beautiful screen causing any light to make it almost unusable.
I returned it and purchased a different laptop as I wanted better speakers and a better reflective coating on the screen.

The laptop is a powerhouse. It will run anything you throw at it with no issues. The temps are pretty cool while playing monster hunter on Ultra settings locked at 90fps (my preference). It can run higher fps no issue. Aside from power, 1. my issues are: the screen is not as bright or good looking as the asus g16 oled. 2. The laptop feels extremely cheap. The keyboard feels like cheap plastic. The keys get stuck sometines. The power button works after pressing it a few times. 3. The audio might be the worst I have ever heard in any laptop so far. Even at 100% its very low and sounds terrible. 4. The laptop has marks all over even in areas i never even touched. How? The mousepad sucks too and half the time registers right click even when left clicking. Anyways i will try it for s bit longer and if not i will end up returning it. Its very expensive to feel like as cheap as it does.

For the Black Friday price it was a steal but my only complaint is it has to be plug to the wall to get the most out of the laptop even with 4 generations of RTX card u would think the would be efficient and powerful by now.

Lightning fast. OLED is great. Gaming over the road playing AAA online titles. No issues after one month. I wish it had one or two more usb connections but I just bought a usb hub.
