The best bang for buck, especially at black friday price of $450. I just picked this up yesterday. I downloaded pcdecrapifier (an older copy) and deleted the bloatware (not a lot, but still some). After all the windows updates, installed overwatch and apex legends, and they play great. The 4600h is so power efficient that the laptop just doesn't get hot (i dont know how efficient the cooling is due to this fact, and the fact that it has a lower end gpu). This is easily superior to the i5 version that wally world has. hd/ram upgrades: There are seven screws on the bottom, After removing them, use a pry tool or guitar pick to pry open the bottom panel (youlll see the thin gap along the edges). once removed, you'll see a 2.5" drive bay, with a plastic hp "place holder". remove the three silver screws, lift out the cage, and unplug the sata/power cable. remove the four black screws from the cage and the plastic hp shroud, and insert your new drive. done. ssd and ram are under the black tape. i have ordered 16gb to replace the 8gb, but so far gaming has not been bottlenecked at 8gb.

This little guy has been a performer. Bought this for the wife to replace a broken old lappy. Added 8gb more ram, an SSD, and this thing is perfect. Its fast, quiet, and zips through all her tasks. Even installed steam and epic stores to play some games. It runs surprisingly well. This is very easy to open and add memory or another drive.

The value on this laptop was very good. Very good specs and very capable. The build quality was a little lacking but I think it will hold up fine, just need to be gentle with it. But it has good gaming performance to run Shadow of the Tomb raider well, a notorious CPU hog and graphically impressive.

So I got it Black Friday like most people that were lucky enough to get one. I’m happy with it so far disappointed about a few things at the same time. My main disappointment is the weird screen that you can only see when your looking right at it. It’s a horrible screen and doesn’t look 1080 cause it’s weird. I have 10 year old laptops with a 720 screen that are nicer. I would prefer a shiny screen, but the ryzen 5 and the gtx 1650 make up for the screen. What I will ultimately do is connect it to a monitor a get a keyboard and mouse like a desktop uses. The mousepad sucks also to me I think it could’ve been a lot better coming from a company like hp. The battery life is very poor also, and I haven’t even attempted to play a game yet but without playing a game it seems to only last maybe 2-3 hours. Besides those problems it seems to be a nice laptop. I did have a problem trying to figure out how to turn the backlit keyboard on after it randomly turned off and I haven’t had to deal with again since. I’ve put maybe 12 hours on it so far until I can add another hard drive.

Fast laptop when purchased. Added memory and storage to what originally came with it, and was pretty straightforward to do. Screen is only so-so, but works very well with an additional monitor. USB-C port on this unit does not support external displays or power to laptop.

You can't beat the price to performance ratio when you take into account the sale price at 449.99. Do be aware though that the screen is not great and it is not running dual channel ram. You can easily purchase more ram and storage but if having a high-quality screen is a deal-breaker you may want to reconsider.

I bought this during black friday/month for $450 marked down from $700. Its a entry level type laptop. I wouldnt play FPS games on this laptop but playing RPGs is perfectly fine. It only comes with 256 GBs of nvme pcie storage but you can add storage with the 2.5 inch bay thats available for a SATA SSD. Also comes with 8 GBs of ram that you can expand to 32 GBs.

Got this laptop for sale at $450. Definitely worth it the price. I needed a laptop good for general use, content creation, and entry level gaming (not having the best specs for gaming, but has good enough to play games like Modern Warafare, etc.) This laptop is it. CON - The only con about this laptop is the memory, having only SSD. However, there are plenty of Pros. PROS - Mentioning the 256 SSD memory being a con, good thing this laptop is friendly in upgradeability. You can purchase and install a SATA 3 HDD or SSD. I was able to purchase a 1 TB SATA 3 SSD for $100 and installed it in. Now my laptop is good enough memory wise. You can also add another 8gb RAM to make it total 16 gb RAM, making it run faster. - GTX 1650 graphics card is the best minimal graphics card you need to play top quality games. - Good input and output options. Again, wanting to use this laptop for content creation, it comes a good amount of input and output, along with a SD card slot. This laptop definitely isn't the top or best gaming laptop, but it definitely is the best budget gaming laptop. With the upgradeability, you can definitely save up to have more RAM or memory. At the $450 sale price? Definitely worth it. If at the full $800 price? Ehhh, I don't think it's worth it at $800.

got this for black friday and for the price i paid it is AMAZING! the one down side like other reviews say is the screen. the screen is very dark and not much color. other than that it is everything i needed for day to day use. i use my desktop rig for gaming. but for regular use you cant beat this laptop. been a month and no issues so far. solid build.

Excellent price and this thing is a beast. Bought this during black Friday sale and at least they have this item in stock for a little bit compared to their competitors. The screen is ok and useable. I've planned on using an external monitor if I need to see better pictures quality. Overall I am satisfied.

Has really great performance. Runs Doom Eternal perfectly, if that's a good benchmark for you. Been catching up on pc games I haven't played in a minute. The only drawbacks I see is the screen can be a little washed out, but you can adjust the settings. And the hard drive is a bit small, but it's a PCIe nvme drive, so you can upgrade it if you want.

Can't be beaten for value. The display could use some improvement, but this was a 450.00 laptop on sale! Easily upgraded to 16gbs of ram and a 1TB SSD. Considering the quality of this model, at the regular price you are getting a much better rig than what Acer or Dell offer at this price point.

I paid around $460 for the laptop, which, at the time of purchase, is insane! Not only that, but this laptop has upgradeable ram, upgradeable SSD, and a 2.5" slot for even more storage! Not even ASUS nor MSi does this with their laptops! Hardware: The thermals are amazing until you're literally pinning the CPU, which is when it reaches 90C, which for most laptops at this price, is expected, so I'll let it slide. As stated above, the upgradability is amazing for the price. I have already increased the SSD size to 1TB, and doubled the ram. The chassis is all ABS plastic according to the feel of it. It is definitely NOT magnesium or aluminum or any metal, but it does the job well! The keyboard is decently tactile and enjoyable to type on. The green backlighting is a bonus as well for typing at night, and can be disabled if you so wish. The screen is not an IPS. I do not really care for this but I know plenty others will. It's a TN panel but it's full HD 1080p and it looks decent to me. If you plan to use this laptop for art however, you'll probably be skipping this laptop since it doesn't have an IPS panel. The camera is very basic. Its a 720p30fps camera iirc and is very low in quality. If you're in a zoom class or the like, this won't matter, but if you plan on streaming and using the webcam as your main camera, just know it wont look that nice. The microphone on the laptop is also pretty bad. It's good enough to pick up your voice but it's also able to pick up background noise from the next room over. The speaker system is engineered by B&O audio. But that doesn't matter to me. To my non-audiophile opinion, playing music from my laptop speakers is pretty decent. Nowhere near as good as my AirPods Pros, but they definitely didn't cheap out on the speaker system by any means! The IO on the system supports a second HDMI monitor which is nice. This also means it should support some VR headsets, but I'd personally advise against such as a 1650 probably won't do much in VR expect maybe Beat Saber. It does have two USB 3 type As and a USBC as well as a gigabit LAN, SD slot, and a 3.5mm jack. The lack of USB slots is a bit upsetting if you want to use an external keyboard and mouse, or have an external drive or capture card hooked up, but otherwise, it will do just fine. Just know you will need a USB hub or two. Software: I always do a clean install of windows on laptops. OEM bloatware is something I tend to avoid as I'm more tech inclined. HP has always had this issue of filling their laptops with bloatware so I will always recommend you do a clean install on this laptop! Overall: Solid 8.5/10 from me. 10/10 on the price though. If you just want to game on a laptop with dedicated graphics for real cheap, this is for you. If you want to use this for art, you're in the wrong neighborhood. If you want to play some games or emulate some old games, while doing some schoolwork on the side, this is honestly the perfect laptop for that! Thanks for reading!

So I've never owned an elite gaming laptop so I can't compare this to one but I am more than happy with this one. I bought it to play the new WOW shadowlands and it has worked amazingly. I have it set on the highest settings and it hasnt bogged down or lagged. It stays running smooth in the major cities and in dungeons. The picture is excellent. And I love how the keyboard lights up. It's by far the best laptop I've owned. And for the money it's hard to beat in my opinion.

I am very happy with the performance of this laptop. The Ryzen 5 with the GTX1650 works great for the video editing I needed it for. Though the screen is not the best, when looking straight at it from a normal distance it is fine to me, a great value for the sale price.

Got this on sale for $450 and after all of the upgrades it was a $650 investment. I suggest upgrading the wifi card to a AX200 from Intel, Upgrading to Crucial 2x8 (16gb kit) of CL 22 3200 MT/s memory, and last but not least a 500gb - 1tb Samsung EVO SSD. With these upgrades this laptop turns into a beast and it's a great way to teach a kid how to do all of the upgrades if you're buying this for x-mas. Always remember to keep this plugged in if you are gaming or go to the Nvidia control panel and adjust the settings because the computer will restrict your frame rate and other features if not plugged in.

I got this laptop at a great price. It is very fast. I use it for mixing audio. The files can be upwards to 1GB or more. Because of that, I added a 500GB SATA SSD in the open slot and put 16GB of ram in it. I'm very pleased with it. No mechanical drive ... yay!

I'm giving this the perfect rating because of the outstanding performance at $449! Some have complained about the display being poor. This can be improved by adjusting the radeon settings. Click on the radeon app. Click on the display and click on color located to the right. Click on automatic instead of 6500k. Brightness O Contrast 120 saturation 115. Click off vari-bright, Click on to virtual super resolution. You should see a much more vibrant screen as long as you are directly in front of the screen. Happy gaming!
