I purchased this laptop to upgrade a 5 year old laptop. I chose this over others for the Intel Core i7 processor and so far the speed has been impressive. The laptop has some very useable features and the larger screen makes a big difference when you take it on the go. I have an additional monitor plugged in for home use, so that gives me 2 screens which is great. The display has great resolution and is very clear as well. It seems to be a good weight for the size and I don't think that it will be a problem when traveling ( it actually weighs less than my old 15" laptop). I think the price and the features make this a great option, I only wish the keyboard lit up.

If you're looking for screen real estate but don't need touch-screen or 2-in-1 features, this is a fast, good-looking machine. For basic home or business use, you can't beat the features for the price.

I was browsing stores for a new laptop. An earlier HP Pavilion DV6 I bought (from BestBuy) 4 years ago gave up on me with its screen hinge stuck on the keyboard body. Its still working ! but more like a 'table'-top now. I saw this laptop in BestBuy, they had 10% rewards on a new bestbuy credit card (I did not need a new credit card but this was $62 back on an already great price of $629 on a great 17 inch I-7 HP) and the net cost to me was $569 ! (no taxes, we live in Delaware) So far I love it. I personally dont know what the big deal is about touch laptops. I tried out a touch laptop from BJs for a few days before I got tired of it and returned it. I have my galaxy Tab, and my Galaxy Edge so why do I need to touch my laptop? Back to this one.. the keys are super responsive. I have always been a big fan of the island style keypad so I love this. Its lighter than my earlier DV6 pavilion (that was also 17 in). 6 GB of RAM and 750 GB of hard disk is more than enough for any basic work. May be not for heavy gaming but I do not do that anyway. My recommendation - get Windows 10 on it ASAP. This laptop comes with Windows 8 pre-installed and we all know how 'fast' Windows 8 was. With windows 10, everything I do on this is a breeze.

I researched laptops for over a year before I purchased this one. This laptop has the Intel i7 operating system, and every other feature about it is amazing! I got it for an amazing price!!! There are two things I sacrificed to save hundreds of dollars, and that is a touch screen and a backlit keyboard. This laptop has every awesome feature except for those two things. If I would have wanted a laptop with those two extra features I would have spend at least twice as much or more than I spent on this one. I absolutely highly recommend this laptop. It will last you for years with the amazing Intel i7 operating system!

Needed to update from my 6 yr old laptop. Has Windows 8 which I upgraded to Windows 10. Has a 17" screen which I love. Couldn't pass up the great price.

This laptop worked as advertised. Its processor/board combination has sufficient speed The display view is average, but with narrow viewing angle. However, the viewing angle is better than lower cost units. The large size screen is welcome and very useful. The contrast between shades of blue and white could be better, but is on par with similarly priced units. Keyboard action is good. I took this computer on a 2000 mile trip and it connected without fail to a variety of WiFi locations showing good sensitivity of its radio and antenna. The spacing between the two USB ports should be a little more. I could not insert two Cruser thumb drives adjacent to each other. The width of a USB devices should be considered when outfitting this lap top. This lap top has no latch for holding it closed; It depends on the hinge friction alone.and this has been adequate while the unit is new. In time, the hinge friction may reduce. Opening the laptop is a little awkward because the locations of the finger slots are not obvious. These are located at the corners and one must wedge the top up a bit before it can be comfortable opened.

Computer is fast and easy to use. I did upgrade to Windows 10 which does require some learning. Everything is great except the mouse pad works erratically, but I use a wireless mouse so it doesn't matter much but is a little annoying. Bill

This laptop has power, RAM, and speed. Does everything I need it to do. I multitask a LOT and I have yet to have it slow down on me. While nice sized, it is light weight. The larger screen allows for 3 or more windows to be shown at once without any loss of font size, keeping it legible. For those who are looking for a great laptop at a great price without having to fight with a touch screen, this is the way to go.

My father came to visit and his laptop stopped working so I checked things out and headed to Best Buy to get him a new one. This is an excellent midlevel laptop. One downfall is that it WiFi is not A/C and to some the lack of a touchscreen may also be a downfall.

The main reason for my recent laptop purchase was to upgrade to a faster processor. Love the i7 processor! It has meant my expectations. The free Windows 10 upgrade was easy to install. It does everything I need from surfing on the web and working on Microsoft Word and Excel documents.

Easy setup and great picture on screen. Would like to see a lighted keyboard on this model though.

Powerful processor, great resolution especially if you like larger monitor. My wife is an interior designer and loves the larger screen. Only problem, probably isolated, cannot load Windows 10. Store says they will fix or replace.

This is a great laptop for the office. Great looking product, lightweight and gets the job done. The battery life doesn't seem all that impressive, but other than that I am happy so far.

This laptop was purchased for my wife. She's an elementary Principal and really likes the unit. The large screen and functionality of this model seems to fit her needs well. The only other feature that she wished it had would be a back-lit keyboard.

This machine is so fast, I love it. I can play all the latest games with it.

This replaces my Dell w/ a fried motherboard. Moved to a bigger screen and LOVE it, especially when working on spread sheets. I did have a computer tech remove a lot of the preloaded programs that I have yet to use on any system, which cleaned up the start screen. It came with windows 8 but I was able to get the Windows 10 update installed as soon as it was up an running. It's taking a little getting used to, as any new item does. Wish I could get rid of more of the hp installed stuff but for now, I just disregard it. Did have a fair amount of problems getting the system to acknowledge my Canon wireless printer (because hp doesn't like Canon?) which was a major pain. Overall, so far happy with the system, but it's only been about a month that I've had it.

Good computer...came with tiny scratch/crack on lid but not worth return after setup....hard drive a little noisy...crackling sound when running but geek squad said ok...some set up issues after upgrade to win 10 but hp rep on phone helped resolve...Cortona takes a while to work but overall computer works well.

I purchased the laptop as a replacement for another HP that scrambled a camera card. This laptop is fast, has good battery life, good sized screen with good colors. downside, the keyboard is uncomfortable for me to use. It is flat and the "mouse" is right in the middle. every time I type the mouse goes crazy.

the large screen is good for older eyes, although the weight of the laptop is a little heavy. Overall fits the needs of older user well.

I bought this laptop for my mom and she loves it. The size of the screen is great for her since she is older and can't see well, and Windows 10 works amazing. Overall, my mom is very happy with this laptop.
