We bought what we thought was the best laptop for the money and what she wanted and felt she needed. After only 2 weeks of used she closed the screen put in her backpack and walked to her room, took the computer back out and the screen crack when she opened it back up. Ofcourse best buy and HP is claiming physical damage is not covered but when it is a design flaw, as opening and closing a screen is normal use should be the responsibility of manufacuter. you can see by the picture i attached the broken screen was not caused by a drop but most likly by the hinge or backing while being opened and closed. others have had the same problem. i was told i have to pay over 400 dollars to have this manufacuter defect fixed. never buying another HP if they do not come back and say they will fix even though they have said no already twice.

One month latter, I found it broke. I think it broke when I bought it. I didn't look carefully. But the seller didn't change a new one for me. They said it will cost about 100$ to check the back part. So I have to keep this broken one. I just cost a lot of money on a broken laptop. What a bad experience. You can look at the picture

PROS: Great performance, storage, adaptability, lightweight & attractive design.
CONS: ITS OVERHEATS! I didn't realize this was an issue with all HP laptops, my previous laptop overheats and so does this one. There's no reason for $1000 laptop to be overheating .

First of all, I'd like to clarify that this product DOES NOT have USB C ports as the Best Buy description says. It has 3 USB 3.0 Type A ports.
I have only had this laptop for a few days, but my first impression is that this is a fantastic PC. From the outside, it looks like a MacBook Air that runs Windows, has a touchscreen, and bends backwards. I wanted something powerful because I occasionally like doing video editing and heavy multitasking, but also something lightweight and thin to take to school. This in my opinion is the best option for a touchscreen 2-in-1 laptop because of its top-of-the-line processor (i7#, solid state drive #faster startup and overall performance), and 8GB of RAM.
I would also recommend this one over the Windows 8 version, simply because it is newer and having Windows 10 pre-installed was very convenient for me.
My only issue is that sometimes I forget to move my finger to the other side of the very large trackpad to right-click, but I'll probably get used to it.
I think I am really going to enjoy using this laptop and would recommend it to any student or adult who needs a portable and powerful PC.

I was having a difficult time deciding between the Yoga 3 Pro and the Spectre 4101-dx. Fortunately I have a friend who has the Yoga, and it is an incredible machine. However, the new Intel processor it has is sufficient for a user who does not consume large amounts of computing resources but I do. If I opened Photoshop, a web browser, and MS Excel and tried to import 1,000 rows it would start to hang and I believe it was paging as well. The Spectre with the i7 given the same tasks rips through almost twice as fast as the Yoga. I do like the Yoga's weight, but at the end of the day it's still to heavy to be an effective tablet so I sacrificed the half pound for the Spectre and I'm glad I did. I am in the IT industry and have had pretty much almost every major laptop brand and I usually shy away from HP. This, however, is by far and away the best machine I have ever owned. The battery life is amazing, I don't get the advertised 12 to 12.5 hours, but I get over 10 and its great to not have to ever worry about bringing the charger to work (assuming its charged at home) as it lasts more than long enough for a long day. The touch screen is responsive with excellent display, having one slight drawback, the screen is reflective in the light. All in all well worth the money, it is a beautiful, high performing beast!

This thing is crazy. Chose it for its size and the 5th gen i7 processor. I bought it for law school but i use it just as much for personal and entertainment. Didnt really need a touch screen but now that i have it can stand using a computer that does not have it. Computer is crazy fast ultra responsive even when multi tasking.
Cons speakers could really be louder for such an expensive machine but i just blue tooth to external speakers any way.

This computer has been good outside of some minor issues. Sometimes the wifi just doesn't connect when I start it from sleep and I have to restart it. There's just some other small features that I don't like about it but some of that is more windows 10 stuff. The battery life is also excellent. Great 2 in 1 laptop if you are looking for something to use as a "tablet" as well.
Make sure if you're going to be writing on it that you get a good stylus. Read that the HP stylus doesn't work well so taking the advice of some reviews I got the Dell stylus instead. Unfortunately, the battery life (4A) for the Dell is terrible so that's an issue if I don't take the battery out of the pen when I'm done using it.
The computer itself though overall is great. It's fast, it turns on and off and restarts fast. The tablet conversion is very nice and easy.

I'm impressed with this laptop. Pricey, but nice. I researched laptops on many websites before buying this one. I had narrowed it down to a few and let my daughter have the final say from that pool. We also visited several stores for her to try out the keyboards & screen sizes. I purchased it for my daughter who is going to college this fall. I wanted her to have a few weeks getting used to Windows 10 (came pre-installed) vs only being familiar with Windows Vista and 7. The set up was very easy, though I wish there was a little more set up direction (paper form) provided in the box. Speaking of which, the box was pretty cool-one knows they have purchased something special by just unpacking the computer. I purchased the Kaspersky Internet Security software and 3 year protection plan. I did the installation of this and it went very smoothly. The computer does get warm, but not like our 9 year old Dell XPS laptop which gets almost hot to the touch (9 years & the XPS is still working fine - something to say for that too). My daughter likes how little this weighs, the lighted keyboard, the touch screen, and the SSD drive (extremely fast start up). I'm not sure if the cost of the coupon was all on Best Buy or if HP helped cover it, but thank you for having the $150 college student discount.

It was hard for me to purchase a PC after using my boyfriend's MAC. While I am more familiar with use a PC, the features on a MAC are much more user friendly and at the end of the day Apple just makes a really great computer. As for this laptop I do love the size, the touch-screen features, and the ability to use it as a tablet. I don't love that the keyboard is silver, because it makes the keys nearly impossible to read during the day, and the touch pad is larger than necessary. I have had nothing but issues with the touch pad since I purchased this computer and set up wasn't as simple as I would have liked. Thankfully I purchased the additional Geek Squad support and they were able to set up my laptop for me and adjust the touch pad setting to most closely resemble a MAC touch pad. Overall the computer is fast, has all the necessary ports for USB, SD cards, and Micro USBs. It boots up very fast and now that the Window's store has more apps, I am able to download apps like Netflix and iHeart Radio to use when I travel. If you're looking for a fast, dual purpose (tablet/laptop), and visually appealing laptop, this one will meet your needs. It's a little pricey but having the solid state hard drive is so nice because there is no fan constantly making noise. My final critique is the location of the power button (on the side almost flush with the side of the computer) and the speakers are horrible so you'll definitely need to use headphones or attach external speakers. My dad is a super tech-savvy guy and recommending this computer out of all available PC options. However, if you like the look, feel, and features of a MAC, take the jump and spend the money on one because despite what a Best Buy sales associate might tell you, this computer doesn't even come close to being comparable to a MAC.

First and foremost: Only buy this computer from a reputable seller who will easily exchange it for a NEW one if you get one with bugs. I had read reviews from people who complained that the ones they had dropped WiFi constantly or got super hot on their laps fast. Well, I got one that did both! But after speaking to a very responsive HP tech support guy and doing everything he told me to try to fix the WiFi, he finally told me to exchange it, since I was within the Best Buy 15 day returns window. I will say, my local Best Buy was great about exchanging it for another brand new one, no hassles at all (though it did take over 20 minutes, in all, to actually walk out the door with the new one).
So, on to the one I'm currently using, which has no problems with overheating and drops WiFi much less often, though still too often unless it's a really strong signal.
I'm torn.
This has everything I wanted : powerful enough to be my primary home computer for many years to come, light enough to travel with, and versatile so I don't need to get a separate tablet, too. I find I use the touch screen and tablet mode a lot. I don't actually fold it all the way back because, as others have posted, it's bulky and awkward to use as a tablet, but I put it in tent mode or with the keyboard facing down on my lap and the screen bent up, hinges facing me, whenever I'm doing more reading than typing. It's a good looking laptop, especially for a non-Apple. It boots up super fast and the screen resolution is crisp. The track pad can be a little too sensitive, but not enough to drive me nuts. I find the keyboard very comfortable. I get why many people don't like the backlit f5 key, but it doesn't bother me at all. I wish the speakers were better and that you could turn the volume up more (there's a show on HBO that I always have to have the volume way up on the TV in order to hear dialogue and on the HP Spectre I couldn't get the volume loud enough to hear it on HBOgo), but that's not essential for my current use.
So why am I torn? It still drops WiFi way too often. It goes into "Limited" mode, so I have to disconnect and then reconnect again. Sometimes it will be multiple times in a half hour, sometimes not at all. None of the WiFi devices in the house - other laptops, phones - have this problem, so it's not my home WiFi. Though my brother has a super strong Netgear router and it never drops the signal there, so somehow signal strength is involved. Other than that, there are the poor speakers and also I do wish it were closer to the MacBook Air or Lenovo Yoga Pro 3 in weight.
The other major negative that makes me unsure about this purchase is Windows 10. I migrated from a Mac but I've always used Windows for work, though nothing higher than Windows 7 (I work in the non-profit world) so I'm not a complete PC neophyte. In a nutshell, I HATE Windows 10, especially the Mail app. But that is not specific for this computer, so I won't go into it here.
I looked really hard: unless you want an Intel M processor so you can go with the Yoga Pro 3, there doesn't seem to be anything out there right now with this much power, the 2-in-1 touchscreen versatility, and that doesn't weigh a lot more. I'm going to call HP to see if they can help me fix the WiFi connectivity, and I'm now outside my second Best Buy 15 day window (this window only for an exchange, but still, what a generous, civilized policy!), so I'm keeping the Spectre 360. If I get the WiFi problem resolved and Microsoft fixes the many Windows 10 problems, I will love this baby! If . . .

This is definitely the closest Windows laptop has every gotten to compete with the MacBook. Windows 10 is so much better than the previous versions. This laptop will be perfect for travel and is built very solid. It's snappy and smooth. I am a Mac guy so it has most definitely impressed me. This is my work computer and the only thing that would make this better is a docking station. The screen is crisp and I love how Windows utilizes the touch screen with the new web browser Edge. So far this has been an excellent work. It does run hot at times but nothing too bad. My MacBook Pro retina can run a little hot but it's definitely quieter than the x360. I wanted a Mac but so much of our software is windows based that I figured just get a windows computer. I am glad I chose this one so far!

Slim and relatively light (3.3 pounds). Battery life for me has been good but not as well as advertised. I've seen 7 to 8.5 hours @ 50% brightness with wifi on, Bluetooth off. The SD card inserts almost flush with the side of the laptop which is nice. It does not stick out and you can leave it in. This is a good way to bump up some capacity and save space on the SSD. I got a 256gig card for 80$ on Amazon, which I used for music, videos,iTunes. As some reviews pointed out, the touch pad can be a little quirky at times and not respond to my touch gestures, but it's not too disruptive. There is a certain region on the touch pad for touch gestures, so this may be part in it. I.E. Double taps are not effective at the very edges of the touch pad, but work within a tighter region around the center. Laptop is fast and boots fast. If I wait until the Hp logo pops up and start counting, Windows is up in 5-6 seconds from that point. If the CPU (i7 model ) is not being stressed, it's quiet. The fan does start kicking in when CPU demand goes up. It's not a shrill, high pitched sounding fan, but it will be noticeable when the CPU utilization is high. I've had a "wireless ac " router for some time, but my old laptop was only wireless N. What a difference! Granted, I'm not too far from my router, but my old laptop would occasionally hit 300 Mbps but would run from 80-200 range. With this laptop using wireless AC, I run 600-900 Mbps. Obviously distance will be a factor, but wireless ac is the way to go. I also live in a condo with tons of neighboring networks overlapping. This always caused my speed to really drop, but so far with this laptop, the speed is way above my internet speed. No bottle neck on my internet speed with wireless that fast. Obviously a router that does wireless ac will also be necessary to take advantage of this laptop.
To summarize: A good laptop with tablet functionality and great looks. Slim, fast boots, and fast wifi.

After reading reviews, I decided to get this over The Lenovo Yoga 3, and the Dell. The Yoga is thinner, but underpowered, and the Dell is not a touch screen, or a 2-in-1. The laptop has excellent battery life, awesome screen, and responsive keyboard, and touch pad. I was hesitant about the touchpad being as good as a MacBook, but was pleasantly surprised. My only complaint is that backlit keyboard, is only on or off, but cannot be adjusted. The on option works well in a dark room. I actually like Windows 10, and coming from a MacBook Air, welcomed the 1080p screen over the 1440x900. I also passed up the other model with the higher resolution screen, as I've heard battery life is about 5-6 hrs, while this will last 11-12hrs.
Highly recommend this notebook, only think I do not know is how well HP will take care of me after 1 year warranty. Apple is excellent warranty coverage, and assistance after the 1 year.

This laptop is versatile, and fast. I love that it can be used as a laptop or a tablet, while also being a touchscreen with either. It comes on super fast, and there is nothing slow about it. After one month I have had zero issues, and could not be happier with its performance. My only regret is that it has no DVD/CD writer built in. There is also a downside that it has no ethernet connection. I had to purchase separate external peripherals, but there is so much good that this was a minimal problem.

I really don't know a whole lot about computers and their software. So technically speaking I can't compare it to other computers. I will say that this computer is really pretty, both on the outside and the screen. The clarity is beyond pretty. The computer is really fast, quiet, and does not get hot. It is really lightweight too, which I love. The battery lasts for hours and charges quickly. It also shuts down automatically after you let it sit for a while, which is also wonderful. The price was high, but I've had a lot of great hp computers and would say it's worth it. My only complaint is that the wifi randomly doesn't work. Idk why but I always am able to connect after I refresh it. I would buy it again.

I've been waiting for a true laptop to tablet conversion and here it is. It does everything I want it to do. The only thing is that many Apps are built for only Android and IOS, but this PC doesn't support either (tablet mode) so out of luck on those. The screen is nice and clear. It's plenty light and the size is perfect for travel. Good looking case too.
Two bummers I found were that my fingers can't open the case very easy - It needs a wider place to get ahold of. And it seems to take a long time to grab a wifi signal. Outside of a couple of annoyances, I think this is a great unit in many ways..

I've had the HP Spectre x360 for 1 month and really like it. This particular model came pre-installed with Windows 10 so no upgrade was necessary. I've enjoyed being able to use it as a tablet when I've wanted to. The build quality is excellent and the ports plentiful.
I struggled a lot deciding between this FHD display and the model with QHD display. My eyes are very sensitive and I see pixels easily but in the end I decided that I'd rather have the extra battery life of the FHD model. By most accounts in average use, it seems one should expect around 1.5 hours less battery life with the QHD display. It comes down to personal choice depending on what's important. That said, the FHD display does look very good but yes, I can see pixels particularly with smaller text. I'm sure if I had it side by side with the QHD display I would appreciate the better display. The display is very bright at the highest setting and does very well outdoors. As many have commented, the panel is mirror-like so reflections will happen. This is usually solved by moving the angle a bit. I wish the touch panel could operate just as well but with an anti-glare display but in the end, it's not a product-killer problem.
The boot-up time is 9 seconds from being powered off - lightening fast! There are lots of ports but they are not the new USB-C as falsely advertised as of this writing: "3 USB Type C ports with USB Boost" They are all Type A where you still have to orient the USB cable in the right direction to plug it in correctly.
Some complain that the fan runs all the time and the laptop bottom can get hot. My fan does NOT run all the time but obviously sometimes it does depending on what the laptop is doing and in those situations, it can get a bit hot underneath. Not exactly a showstopper though. The keyboard is very comfortable and accurate to type on and I have not had issues with unintended swipes on the over-sized touchpad due to the well implemented palm rejection settings.
The back-lighting works well when turned on and now with the recent BIOS update a couple of months ago, you no longer have to live with the F5 key lit all the time when the back-lighting is off to tell you what key you have to hit to turn it back on. That one lit key could be annoying and an unnecessary bit of constant (if very additional small) drain on battery life. The one thing I will say is that the choice of all silver keys can sometimes cause sun glare when using it outside depending on how the sun hits it but it does look cool. Just something to be aware of.
The weight is NOT a problem for me using it as a tablet as some reviews complain about. I think HP/Microsoft struck the perfect balance here between form factor flexibility, size and power. So, with one month in, and no major issues - this would be a strong buy recommendation for those looking for a 2-1 design where most usage is as a laptop but as much as 30% or so would be as a tablet (it is first and foremost a laptop) and of course there are all the other modes like tent or easel mode (great for watching a movie and invaluable using on an airplane tray table in a cramped seat). Wifi performance has been flawless on my Wireless N network (but of course it can do the new AC specification).
Can't comment on the web camera yet but the reviews I have read are very good. Finally, sound quality from the speakers is quite good and loud for a laptop of this size. Don't expect earth shattering bass of course (in the case use a good set of external speakers or headphones). So to the summary:
Pros:
o Cool looking, slim design
o Nice bright FHD panel
o Lightening fast boot up time and speedy processor.
o Accurate touch display (if so inclined to use in laptop mode and when using in any of the other modes).
o Comfortable typing experience with good palm rejection and backlit keyboad which can be disabled any time via F5 key.
o Light enough (3.17 lbs) to use as a tablet for reasonably long sessions without too much of a bother.
o The AC capable wireless adapter has been flawless with no dropped connections on my Wireless N network.
o Good, accurate and loud sound without distortion from built in speakers.
o HD camera is said to be very good in other reviews but I've not used mine yet.
Cons:
o Highly reflective panel will sometimes be a problem especially when used outdoors but the bright display helps mask it a bit. Usually a slight angle adjustment will improve the view if reflections are a problem. The good news is that you will always have a nice mirror handy to check your hair or apply lipstick : )
o Can sometimes get a bit hot underneath at times but not exactly egg-frying heat. Just something to be aware of.

Lightning quick. Much lighter than I expected. Great screen quality. Nice battery life. Wish the hard drive was bigger, but $20 for a 128mb usb solved that slight hiccup for me.
