Positive feedback also highlights its quiet operation and reliable performance. A notable drawback, however, is the lack of a built-in scanner.

This is without a doubt the worst printer I have owned in over 25 years of personal computing. It has no provisions for a wired connection, so if it loses the ability to connect to WiFi networks (which in our case, took less than a year), you're left with a $150 paperweight. HP support is worthless, and will give you the same runaround ("download our App! Go to 123.hp.com!" Pro Tip - the app locks up at the first step of printer setup, and you have to force-quit the application). HP refuses to provide actual product support until your warranty runs out, at which point you can move on to a different brand that is actually worth a lick of salt. Oh, and the ink cartridges are insanely expensive and they run out almost instantly.

      Hi there.

I’m sorry that your printer has not maintained a reliable wireless connection. I can readily understand why that, plus the repeated attempts you’ve made at remedying the situation without success, would be tremendously frustrating, so I’ll offer some resources and information I hope will help.

First, I recommend you visit a page on our support site that has diagnostic tools for various problems, including wireless connectivity issues. Visit that page here:
      - support.hp.com/us-en/topic/diagnostics

If the problem persists, I suggest that you contact us directly at +1 800-474-6836 so we can help you assess the situation and guide you through any applicable troubleshooting. (Please note that because of restrictions on personal movement and workplace attendance associated with the COVID-19 pandemic, wait times for agents are longer than normal. Thanks in advance for your understanding.) To expedite the process, I recommend gathering the following information before the call:

      - Model number
      - Serial number
      - Your location
      - Case number (from any previous contact with HP support)

I'll also mention that HP printers have a one-year warranty from their purchase date that covers hardware as well as ink supplies, so if it comes to that, you might consider making use of it. You can verify the warranty using the following link: support.hp.com/us-en/checkwarranty

When I can get it to work it's great. More often than not it has lost it's wifi connection. I have to uninstall and reinstall the app, it actual stinks. I didn't use it enough in the 1st 90 days to know it was awful otherwise I would have returned it.

      Hi there.

Thanks for the review and the input. While I’m glad you like your printer when it works, I’m sorry to hear that it has not maintained a reliable wireless connection like it should. I can understand why that would quickly become frustrating, so I’ll point to some resources and offer some information I hope will help.

    Poor Cartridge Performance

I have used HP Printers for years and have been happy with the older printers. My printing needs changed so I opted for a smaller printer to use and I signed up for the HP Instant Ink program. Initially, the printer worked fine and printed pictures and standard documents well. However, a few weeks later when I attempted to print documents, the documents were faded and not legible. This necessitated printing multiple pages in order to get clear documents. Since I am on the HP Instant Ink Program, having to print multiple pages to finally get a clear print is detrimental to my monthly page allotment. I would not recommend this printer due to the cartridge issues.

      Hi there.

Thanks for the review and feedback. While I’m glad to hear that your printer performed well when you first got it, I’m sorry to hear the print quality declined. I can understand why that would be quite unsettling, especially considering printing diagnostic pages affected your Instant Ink page count. With that in mind, I’ll offer some resources and information I hope will help.

First, I recommend following the steps listed in this guide to improving print quality, including faded or streaked prints, color or black ink not printing properly, and blurred or fuzzy text:

    A disappointment for me

Mine was defective, it printed but the printing wasn't clear and offset every other line. I ended up having to return it after extensive troubleshooting, and the process to unregister from the instant ink program was needlessly stressful. There is no way to do it online. I waited on hold for an hour before returning the ink shipment to sender. I don't doubt that they aren't all lemons, but don't register for the instant ink until you're sure your unit arrives in good condition.

Great little printer for what you get, but.......

First let me say, I love this printer for my living room. It is fast, quiet, small enough to fit in and so far after a few months dependable. So what is there that I don't like, well I had no idea how much I would miss that it can't print on both sides of a piece of paper or that I couldn't copy and print. I really am going to miss it, but after eight months, I find that I need those features. I can't keep feeling guilty that I am wasting paper or making it hard to flip through my notebook when there are two pages to turn instead of one. I find it very inconvenient to stop what I am doing to go turn over the paper and then print to the other side. I didn't realize at the time that it would print on only one side so my mistake,,, but a big one.

Hands down worst printer I've ever owned

It glitches out if there's no paper in the tray, and stays glitched out for several minutes after restocking paper. It also takes several minutes after powering on to show up on bluetooth. It ran out of ink after maybe 40 pages, then after changing ink cartridges required a full reconfiguration to be usable again. The app is terrible and troubleshooting instructions are worthless. I didn't realize all the ways you could screw up a printer, thanks for showing me, HP.

Absolutely the worst printer I have ever boughten. The first one I purchased worked for about a week of light printing, and then the paper feeder stopped working. So the print thought that it was printing even though it wasn't grabbing paper. I returned that one and ordered a new one thinking it was just a defective unit. Nope. Same issue has now occurred with the new porudct. Except I'm outside of the return/exchange policy, so it's lucky I purchased the protection plan.

Cartridges you get with this printer will be enough for just a few pages which you will all spend while trying to calibrate this peace of garbage. But what they will not tell you that "Easy Replenish" is a sham. They don't have cartridges for that model and will feed you BS how the order almost finished and will be delivered any day now. Right until 30 days when you can still return this garbage are up and you still didn't get a chance to even try it.

The company provides a free trial and without further warning begin charging your account, despite using the ink that came originally with the printer. For some the subscription is worth the price. For most others, it’s just another meaningless deduction from your monthly income. The advertise free photo prints, but the quality is horrible. Your better off buying a quality brother printer than this gimmick.

I wanted to love this printer but unfortunately we couldn't get it to maintain its connection to our network longer than a few days at a time. After spending dozens of hours trying to resolve the issues I finally gave up and we will be replacing this with a different printer. Sadly best buys return policy doesn't allow for us to even exchange it for a different printer.
