Great entry-level product at its price point. Battery life is a bit disappointing when running games, but performance is initially sufficient to run at acceptable graphic and performance fidelity. Might not run modern AAA titles at max settings.

We bought this laptop for our nephew as a Christmas gift and it has been such a great purchase. The build quality is excellent, and it definitely keeps up with all the types of gaming he does—whether it’s Roblox or more demanding dedicated games. He’s a dedicated gamer on the go, and this laptop has been the perfect fit for him. The performance is smooth, the graphics look great, and it runs reliably without lag. For the price, it’s honestly a very good deal, and he absolutely loves it!

Great gaming laptop. I even do my graphic designing on it. Havent had a problem with it since i bought it. Even xame with a free game. The battery while gaming will drain pretty quick though.

I purchased an excellent condition open box HP Victus 16" 8845HS RTX4070 that was also on sale for $781. I was hesitant in buying a used laptop but I couldn't pass up that deal. The product was exactly that when I opened it up, excellent condition.
Pros: Very fast, Quiet on all power settings, Battery life, RTX 4070
Cons: Only 1 M.2 SSD slot available. 16G ram but that can be upgraded, Very flat sounding speakers

Pretty decent price/performance, esp if picked up on one of its common sales. Got mine for ~$879 around cyber monday '24, but saw it down as low as $850 after that. Powerful GPU and CPU. Upgraded with 64GB kit of Kingston memory, and a Samsung 990 Pro 2TB m.2 SSD.
I notice a performance hit on the GPU when I try to use a thunderbolt to DisplayPort cable to my monitor, vs when I'm using the built in display or using the HDMI output. The HDMI seems to be directly connected to the 4070, while the output through thunderbolt to DP seems to be doing the "work" with the 4070, but routing output through the Radeon 780M, causing a 10%-20% hit on overall performance (when using video output from thunderbolt only). This was annoying because I wanted to use a dock for the video output, as well as connecting up my peripherals, but to get full-power video output I need to use the HDMI on the laptop. Just a quirk to be aware of.
Fan can get noticeably loud under heavy load.

Admittedly upgraded the memory and ssd out of the box (sop). Sturdy construction with excellent graphics card. Runs all games cool as a cucumber. Can't comment on battery life as I haven't used it unplugged for any great length of time.

Really good! For some reason tho I keep having to mess around with the sound settings for headphones to work. I also ran out of storage pretty quickly because of my games. However, it runs really well!

All my games ran well with no issues. Screen is good enough but if you are under a bright light you may have some issues seeing the screen. Fans can get a bit loud but i usually have headset on. For upgrading it has 1 m.2 SSD slot but i wish it had 2, you can switch out both ram cards out. I got it on sale for $850 which I'm happy with.

Picked it up as a desktop replacement. Upgraded it to 32GB ram and 2TB nvme. This is a beast for $900. The Victus has a pretty good rep with being so reliable as well. So far I have no issues with it. Currently using it on a 3440x1440p Ultrawide LG and its working great.
Gaming its playing everything I throw at it at around 60FPS. Only thing you may have to do is set lower RT in some titles however I am playing at 3440x1440 so that's probably why. Stays pretty cool for a gaming laptop as well since its undervolted a bit.
Biggest con is the 8GB of VRAM!! It really is my only issue with the machine because it plays games so well being a 4070m but can max out pretty easily depending on the title. Only game I have issues playing is Indiana Jones as thats a very VRAM hungry game.

So far, so good. Seems to work well, no major issues when using it and works well with the games I have tried to date. I have had it for a couple of weeks at the moment. Admittedly, I have not tried any of the newest games, but seems good. The only issue is it is a very heavy computer, not ideal for regular travel.

HP Victus 16 (2024): A Budget-Friendly Gaming Powe

The HP Victus 16 (2024) is a solid choice for gamers who are looking for a budget-friendly laptop that can handle demanding games and creative tasks. Its strong performance, upgradeable components, and decent display make it a compelling option. However, the lack of VRR and potential battery life limitations should be considered.

If you’re looking to buy a budget laptop with performance near high end laptops, this one is for you. I liked everything about this laptop EXCEPT: the colors on the screen, the fan noise while on performance setting, speakers are bad, and that’s it! If you can get over these few things then this would be a solid laptop

Bought this laptop for 900$ which was crazy for the performance it offers. Right out of the box, it has some bloatware, but so does every other prebuilt computer/laptop. So I factory reset the computer and redownloaded all of my personal preferences. Everything runs great so far and i havent had any real issues with the build quality, performance, or noise. This laptop could easily be 1200-1300$(USD). The only thing I can't speak for is the longevity of the machine. I've only got it recently. Overall, im happy. P.S. im not some rating bot! :D

Very good laptop for the price, It's just the ram isn't high enough but can be easily modded to have 32 GB and 64 GB. Though the battery life last around 3 hours with gaming.

Runs well. Good laptop if you can get this discounted. Only downside is that the hard drive is small and can run out of space quick - hence docking a star for that.

The laptop works well. In bright conditions, the screen weak, but otherwise, it runs most modern AAA games, which I imagine is the only reason someone would buy this.

Bought in July at $899. It's now November and wanted to get a good idea of how it worked before I reviewed it. It works great! So far, it has run every game I've tried on Ultra with no problems. I upgraded to 32GB DDR5 RAM at 5600MHz & a m.2 2280 2TB SSD. It runs cool doing anything 30s-50s on normal use and 70s at most while gaming. Although I know what I'm doing when ut comes to debloat and setup. I highly recommend this gaming laptop! It works great, and if you get it on sale, its an awesome deal! Happy Gaming!

I read some reviews about some of the dislikes and when I received it I tested those things. The screen is fine. Looks very good to me. Sounds fine and does not run hot. I tested it both in gaming and 3d animations I do. Its MUCH better than the Asus Tuf I just got rid of which also had a 4070. This is an excellent laptop. Could use more space but we can all buy the space we want depending on what you want to do with it. Also, as with any laptop, UPDATE it fully before using to get the best performance. Including the GPU drivers. That should go without saying, but some people just play out of the box with minimal updates without taking the time to set things up. Devices need to be updated out of box. As for brightness, turn....it....up. Looks great
